I really enjoyed the food at Samis when we went for my friends 30th birthday last week, the portion sizes were good and the menu was small enough so you were not bombarded with choices but large enough to offer good variety. However I thought the service could have been alot better.
We had pre booked in advanced a table for 18 which they accommodated for us by putting us upstairs. The room was nice and we were the only people up there (probably for the best as we were making quite a lot of noise) but it took about 25 minuets for someone to come and take our order. When a waitress did arrive the menu is numbered so it was just a matter of telling her the number of your dish, we all went for a starter and a main but the waitress missed of 4 starters form the order which had to then be cooked and brought up after the rest of us had finished and then a different 4 mains were forgotten and a waitress had to come up again to re take the order as the rest of us were eating.
When the food did arrive everyone seemed to finish there meal and enjoy them as well. They also didn't mind that we had brought our own birthday cake which they lit the candles and brought to the table.
My recommendation is thumbs up for small groups but thumbs down for large ones.

We went to Samis for a friend birthday meal and i have to say I was not at all impressed. The starter was OK - goats cheese in filo pastry, however the main course (lamb couscous) was a dry, overcooked lamb chop on a bed of very bland couscous, no sauce and a few mushy carrots on the side. Desert was a dry chocolate cake which was clearly fresh out of the cash and carry freezer. When we went to tip the waitresses said that all the tips go straight to Sami the owner, and when we said we wanted the tip to go to them, they said they weren't allowed to accept it. I will not be returning here again.

Samis is fantastic value for money and delicious food. I've read old reviews which say portion sizes are small but this is certainly no longer true - especially with the meat dishes. Try and eat upstairs as the decor and atmosphere is a lot better. Its a great place to meet with friends and have a relaxing meal - a lovely 3 course meal for £15 -£20 a head due to providing your own alcohol. We go back again and again.

I loooooove Samis. I went there this evening for a meal. I will certainly return. It is not very often I will give full marks to a restaurant, but I make an exception for Samis. I started off with Falafel it is divine, I had Lamb tagine with Apricots. It was perfect. The lamb was cooked to perfection. The taste was amazing. I for one and my Hubby for 2 will become regulars at his place....

I'd never had Moroccan food before and I've been twice in a month. It looks like a cafe from the outside but the food is truly amazing! You have to take your own alcohol so it keeps it a reasonably priced meal - around £60 for 4 people, 4 courses. Try it, you will not be disappointed.
