Sanam's probably do the nicest Indian food I've tasted in a restaurant and I have been to many to be able to say that. One letdown is the waiters and the manager in particular. The waiters look like there sentenced to be on death row and can't seem to crack a smile. One showed us to our table without even a hello or how are you which is the basic thing every waiter should say to make customers feel comfortable. The manager is the worst, he was so rude to me and my friends when we went. We asked him a question and he snapped back at us,clearly has an attitude problem. Food is great though so would recommend it only on that basis.

We were visiting Manchester for the day and we decided to go to Sanam’s for a evening meal. Upon arriving we were shown to our table, firstly the décor is 1980’s at best, who has plastic sheets on the dining tables anymore?
Anyway…we ordered a started each, chicken and lamb tikka respectively, both dishes were garnished with one stale cucumber, one quarter of a tomato and a piece of lettuce. Whilst tucking into the rubber like tikka’s we were approached by a waiter who requested we order the main’s, we told him that we had to think about it and we were told that if we did not order then we would be put in the back of the que and our food would be delayed! I would understand if the place was heaving but it was barley half full! The night got worse…I found a hair.
I won’t entertain you further other than to say this place has no class, the food is poor, the service is even worse and I will be spreading the word.

A friend and I decided to try this restaurant specifically after reading another reader recommendation on Sugarvine which stated that it was unlicensed and you could bring your own alcohol. When we asked for wine glasses for the bottle of bubbly we had brought, we were told that they are unlicensed and do not allow alcohol to be consumed. They said this is because they do not have a license to sell alcohol, which seems preposterous as we have been to other restaurants without alcohol licenses who allow you to bring your own alcohol. So, they just dont allow people to drink anything alcoholic in the restaurant. We were disappointed at this but the disappointment quickly turned to irritation when the waiter brought a large bottle of still water and some glasses to the table, both of which we hadn't asked for. We enquired if we would have to pay for the bottled water to which they replied yes. So, we sent it back and asked for a jug of iced tap water. We wouldn't have minded if we had actually asked for the bottled water but thought it a cheek for them to put it on the table and add it to the bill without it being requested. This also happened with poppadums and chutney - this time they asked if we wanted any, to which we replied no. Someone else brought some anyway and we had to ask for them to be taken away as these, as we carefully checked with the waiter, would also have been added to the bill. A little later, the tray of chutneys was brought back to the table, again unrequested by us, which we had to send back yet again. The food was nothing to shout home about and actually had far too many fennel seeds in pretty much everything (starters and main course) which just made it all taste of fennel instead of what it should have tasted of. To top it off, the restaurant allowed an irritating person selling roses on the street to come inside and pester the male customers to buy a rose for the women with them. For us, this was the final irritation. We got the rest of our food to take out and we won't be going back.

As a founder member of Trafford Curry Club I have visited this underrated establishment on numerous occasions and have never been disappointed. The decor is basic with no pretentious fittings and furnishings but the atmosphere is cosy and relaxed. No drinks licence so you have to bring your own but that should not put you off. The food is excellent and prepared to a high standard. Myself and three other members recently visited on a Tuesday evening. We ordered mixed starters for four and four different main courses, including Nan bread and Peshwari, the bill came to £38. Less than £10 each for an absolute feast! I recommend this establishment to other curry aficianados 100%

A run-of-the-mill Indian restaurant. No complaints, but nothing to write home about either.

I am a drummer and travel to many places; I am honoured to dine in the best of restaurants, humdelia. When I? in Manchester, England Sanam Sweet House & Restaurant at 145-151 Wilmslow Rd. M14 5AW is my home. The ambience is warm and intriguing [eastern intrigue...], and the food is always fresh and superbly spiced. The fact that it is halal makes me sure that it is an element of the tremendous sanam ingredients for success. The staff truly are family, always smiling, and their 'nothing is too much to ask for' approach is an element of their success. I have attended small and large gatherings at the snaam, and it is always an excellent occasion. Ohh! Did I mention they also have drums there...? Put all these elements together and there is a winner!
