Very rude, aggressive staff. We were told we would have to eat elsewhere as we had not ordered food for all the children in our party, offending children were 1, and 2 but there had been larger adults portions ordered to share with them. But this was not good enough and we were informed it was their busy time despite there being several other vacant tables in the restaurant so it was best we ate elsewhere.
Never been spoken too so condescending, it's amazing how much damage to a reputation can one older lady do. If this is the owner of Scoffs, then she really is doing more harm then good with this high handed approach. Will never eat there again and I can safely say the same for the other 6 adults and 5 children in our party.

On the 9/9/14 we tried to eat at Scoffs. My friend was in a scooter and had her foot in a brace which meant that she needed to stay in the scooter. The place was quiet. Upon entry the tall guy asked us to leave the scooter outside one of the other staff noticed that my friend had her leg in a brace and pointed it out, to which the other guy then said "can you sit outside then"!! It was late in the afternoon and going off chilly. I noticed that someone else had a seat walker frame which wasn't that much smaller than the scooter but they were allowed to sit inside. I said "oh so you can allow that in here then" We told him to forget it and we ate at a much friendlier place. Later when we went back past we saw a pushchair in there!!!! What's the difference???? Certainly NOT disabled friendly...... only to certain people it seems. Your loss mate.

WOW WOW WOW!!! The best chips I have tasted in the 40 years and some I've been on this planet. Me and my partner took a short 2 night break this week and on the first evening we were greeted with a lovely young lady offering free sample chips to try. We normally avoid these sort of gimmicks like the plague but my partner couldn't resist and soon reeled me into have a try!! It was so soft and fluffy on the inside and the great battered texture on the outside without a trace of grease like you'd expect from the good old UK chippy!! We weren't pressured into the shop and was left to go on our way and on return to our B

After a long day in Paignton my friend and I decided to stop at what looked like a nice place to eat. Little did we know..
The girl on the till was rushing us to place our order and her maths wasn't the best with giving change either, a non-issue really..
However, we politely asked a guy who worked there and was stacking shelves if he minded us taking down a chair to sit on, it had been a long day! Apparently this was unacceptable. We sat outside the chip shop on one of the seats, deciding it was far too cold we went inside and another customer offered up a spare chair on their table. We kindly accepted.
The gent who was stacking the shelves came over as if he was going to hit us, "You can't bring chairs in from outside! Put it back!" After explaining that we had used a chair from inside the store, we were once more shouted at and told this was unacceptable.
We instantly demanded our money back as we would not be dining there, we were once again shouted at. After asking to see the manager we were informed there would be a long wait, clearly only said to get rid of us. It's ok, we had a few hours left on the car..
The girl on the till gave us our money back, but was furious when we still wanted to see the manager.
The manager comes out, "What's your problem?!" was the greeting. After explaining the issue she didn't seem to care in the slightest. With a manager like that no wonder the staff are terrible.
Will never visit again.

I used to love Scoffs as takeaway chips but last Sunday I sat down in their restaurant and I swear that ill never ever buy from there again, nor will my friends. I and 2 members of my family from Kenya went for takeaway chips then decided as we had half hour to kill to sit down and eat them in the restaurant.
The assistants kept staring at the two kenyans as if they had never seen a non white person before, then 4 members of staff (yes 4!!) all came up together and intimidated us by standing over the table and demanding to know what we were doing.
We said we wanted to eat the food we had bought there, but they were bullying and demanded we pay extra to sit down, and were incredibly rude to us. Then after we complained about the service, they stood behind the counter gossiping, pointing fingers and making fun of us.
Racist, inept, ill mannered, ill trained and redneck. Ill never go there again and will complain to the owners too.

Went here to buy chips and was waiting in the queue when the woman on the till told us to wait outside as they were "busy" [serving one person in front, one of our friends]. If she called that busy I'd love to have heard what she thought of the summer peak season. Went outside and sat on the table whilst waiting when she stuck her head round the corner and said that the table was only for paying customers! Used to eat here regularly but after this, never again which is a shame as the staff have been good up until now.
