I think I have tried every Indian/Asian restaurant in Leeds over the decades and I make a point of trying out new ones as they arrive on the scene. Shabab on the Headrow was, I believe, the first or one of the first to open in Leeds and it was viewed as very exotic at the time. I loved it then and I still return to it regularly. It rarely disappoints. There is some genuine talent in the kitchen; all of the dishes are freshly prepared with quality ingredients and the flavouring and seasoning is a cut above the opposition. The staff are always welcoming and considerate and the restaurant offers good value for money overall. Highly recommended.

I visited this restaurant with my husband and 2 babies. The food was excellent. Having been to many indian restaurants over the years i've tried a variety of dishes, but the food at this restaurant stands out- very different from the usual. I was feeding my baby at the time our starters arrived and our waiter was very attentively came over and asked to put my starters away to be kept warm for when i was ready to eat- i've not had that service anywhere before- i was very pleased. All in all a lovely and enjoyable eating out experience. I think we'll go again tonight!

ABSOLUTE CRAP ...That's what i will call tonight's experience. Had to call the waiter for everything. 1)call for taking order. had to ask a second time before order was taken 2)no one served popadoms 3)there were at least 3 tables near us who came after they were served their main course even before we got our starters ...... i can go on finally the food was pathetic.

My family and I have been to Shabab many times. The food is always excellent, and service friendly and well timed. Their buffet is definitely worth a go too- it is great value at lunchtimes and good value in the evenings, and the food is of the same high standard as the a la carte menu, and the staff just as friendly. This is a great restaurant at a resonable price.

We were a party of 20 on a Saturday night and the service and food were faultless. Each dish with its' own special flavour, not swamped in too much sauce. Decent wine list. Would recommend to anyone.

We are more and more impressed with the food at Shabab we go weekly and I have yet to sample anything that was not fantastic. The food itself is well presented and it is not like other Indian restaurants like Akbars, Aagrah and so on there is never a mass of the usual sloppy sauce that accompanies a curry which is the norm for most restaurant to serve, the lamb is mouth-watering and the staff can not do enough for you. I would advise curry lovers to try Shabab and I know you will love it like we do !
Shabab Restaurant

Shabab Restaurant
2 weeks before christmas, my partner and i visited the indian restaurant shabab in leeds, at first we were going to go to akbars across the road but decided to go to shabab for a bit of a change. it was a very wise decision, although the food was more expensive than akbars which is very cheap, it was still not too expensive. the restaurant was buzzing and the bar was filled with around 35 people waited to be seated. after around 30 mins wait we were seated at a very good table in the middle of the hall. the staff were excellent through out and very kind. they didn't mind having a laugh with us either. the service overall was excellent and we were greeted with popadoms on the table along with somepickles and chutnies. we then after around 20 mins recieved our starters, my starter was excellent, it was called haleem and was recomended to us by the staff. my partner had onion bhajis nad enjoyed them too. the main courses were excellent too, the gosht sabz masala was very good and accompanied by a peshwari nan it was excellent. for desert me and my partner shared some home made kulfi that had been made by the restaurant itself which made it taste much better. overall the experience was excellent and from now me and my family will always go to shabab!!!!
