After reading the reviews about the spice lounge I was a bit worried about what we were going to find. NO need the restaurant is beautiful and in a great setting. Service was a little slow but this was 9pm on a Saturday night and very busy. The food was great a little expensive but you do pay for the whole experience. I will return to this restaurant, fantastic night.

Its not often that I have such a poor experience n a restaurant that I feel the need to write about it.. however after visiting the Spice Lounge recently I do feel a complaint is justified.
My wife and I ate here recently and found all aspects of this place rubbish.
The curries are appalling, the service is indifferent and the cost is extortionate.
For 2 starters 2 curries with rice and 3 cokes? £53. You can eat in the Malmaison for less. On top of that they slapped on a 10% service charge. It wouldn't be so bad if the food was good but it wasn't. My kebab starter was bland and dry and came with a brown (should have been green) salad.
The curries were dreadful and tasted very synthetic.
Avoid.

Went to spice lounge on the 14th Dec 2010 first of all was going to a concert at the arena so thought what better place to eat, also took advantage of a local radio offer of half price food voucher, and to be honest was glad of the voucher, 1st course I had was a minced chicken kebab that for some reason all you could taste was fish sauce? My wife’s 1st course was aloo tikki described as potato patties with Indian spices. What came resembled and tasted like small savoury cakes from our local chip shop, 2nd course for myself was a lamb chooka what i can only describe as pieces of lamb cooked in a mulligatawny soup? My wife’s 2nd course was a chicken jalfreasi which at £16 for the main without a rice or bread we thought was expensive, then it come to the table, all be it after a mammoth wait, what arrived was hugely disappointing, dry tasteless chicken in a tomato sauce with a slight kick in, we did not have time to have desert after it taking over two hours for 2 courses, overall i had a massively disappointing meal, that does not compare anywhere near the other Indian restaurants i go to in Liverpool city centre and also one on the east lancs road,
And mainly was astounded with the prices of the food , just because it is in the Albert dock does not mean the have to charge premier league footballers prices for 4th division food,

Service was not as good as expected. There had been an overbooking at the time that we were due to eat and staff left us waiting near the door for 10 minutes for our table. Although the food was very good, it seemed a little over-priced. With improved service and cheaper pricing, I would recommend.

hi everyone , if you are thinking of going to this non authentic indian cusine please please please think again.
our meal was well over priced and well over cooked,
i asked for a chicken madras which they don't make! along with all famous other indian currys . the manager recommended a curry and stated very clear it was similar to madras . i trusted his judgement and was more than disappointed , as it was basically a korma (coconut milk based) with some chilli added, this is a huge difference as a madras is tomatoe based . to my horror i hate korma or anything to do with coconut . the saga loo is awful they over do it with too much spinage you cant even taste the potato and add cheese to it.
my partner ordered the crispy lamb which was no better than our local Chinese take away accept it cost 14.50
our rice could have feed 4 people and they let us order two.
our starters and main meal cost 91.53 .
we did not eat hardly anything , and when asked why we didnt eat it i explained to the manager i dont like coconut this is why i asked for a madras he said sorry and still give us the 91.53 bill.
to be honest i dont care about the money we have wasted , im more upset with the management and non authentic indian food.
i absolutely love indian food more than i like shoes or handbags and was really looking forward to dining there regular as we live close by .
also there website is currently not working properly so can not see the whole menu , ( you would think a restaurant with this price tag would have this sorted)
definitely don't take your children (or child) like we did.
i feel this should be clearly stated on the menu or website as they do not cater for children at all .
the manger recommended fish fingers which cost 7.50 , these were fish with a curry paste deep fried in breadcrumbs.
also the garlic naan is not fresh garlic and is too over powering .
i dont feel they can justify the money they charge be prepared for a weird non indian chinese experience .

The place out side and seating area was lovely then once i was seated and asked for my order i could see through to the cooking area it was filthy dirty the food was horrible and the price for two was a hundred and twenty pound we both could not even place the food in our mouths it is a wonder health an safety have not closed it.

£98 for poppadoms (wrong ones delivered) 2 starters (very good) 2 mains (quite good but wrong rice delivered) 1 pint and a bottle of wine. And then the final insult being asked to move to the bar because they were busy before we had finished our drinks. Wont be there again,

Went to Spice Lounge for my husbands birthday on 2nd April with a couple of friends and have to say we ( all four of us ) were very disappointed , the service was poor we had to keep asking for drinks that we had previously ordered, the writing on the menu was so small we all struggled to read it and last but not least the prices charged were way over the top for the quality of the food. Also ten yes ten extra drinks were put on our bill ( I think they kept adding our reminders for drinks orders each time we asked ) either that or they thought we were all half cut from the races at Aintree. Would never go again. Very disappointed as this was supposed to be hubbies birthday treat,

Not so much a recommendation to go but to be wary. Firstly, I have been here many times before, it is an amazing place; the food is to die for. However on my last visit we had two separate dishes with food in them and dirty glasses with beer residue. When we tried to complain the management weren't having it, telling us it is 'only hair'. I think they thought we were too young to afford the food, not realising we were a group of recently qualified dentists and doctors!

Spice Lounge where do I start:
I was treating my wonderful wife today, because I wasn’t able to take her out on Valentine’s Day of damn WORK. Anyway while in work this afternoon I over heard my company boss talking about a new Indian restaurant in the Albert dock, saying how excellent everything was the service, food and environment etc.
They also where boosting about the restaurant in the Albert dock called the Spice Lounge. Without thinking got the phone out and booked a table for two. When we got there my god that place was like stepping in to HEAVEN everything was perfect. We sat down had a good look through the menu but didn’t understand anything; there were no massalla, korma, madras or vindaloo. So my wife called the waiter over and said were are the massalla etc, “he just laughed and told us your in the wrong place mate”. So he told this Spice Lounge is not your typically Indian restaurant. This is more authentic more back home style. Anyway I knew what I was going to have I was being the CHICKEN JALFREZI and my wife Order a king prawn dish and a lamb dish. As our food started to arrive we starting getting into the food. My god the smell and taste of the lamb just melted in my mouth. The service was ten times better than the Ivy restaurant in London and many many other restaurants through out Liverpool. The bill at the end of the night was not what I expected considering the locating and the unique style of food.
Ps. I recommend this unique restaurant to whom so ever. Guess I have found my local now.
