Great pub in the heart of the glorious Langdales. Very dog friendly too. We enjoyed a Goulash and a steak and guinness pie, hearty helpings...

we have been going to the lake district for over 10 years and have always enjoyed our local pub/restaurant the sticklebarn.we last visited the sticklebarn 2 years ago and we were surprised how much the price of the meals had increased and we were not impressed with the quality of the food on 2 occasions during our stay.we recently visited the stickle barn this year 11th-13th june 2010 and we were really unhappy with a few things.firstly the prices had risen again (£9.25 for a burger and chips) secondly that there was no families with children??? also the management and staff were very dull in attitude.after noticing a few people had left nearly half of their dinners i decided to ask one women customer why she had left half her burger,to which she replied the burger had no taste and the bun was saturated in fat.we both agreed that the quality of the food had gone downhill in the last few years and the prices had gone up.i decided to go into ambelside where i found a really nice fish and chip shop that sold fish and chips for £5.00 which is nearly half the price of the sticklebarn, and was very happy with the portion and quality..i know where i will be eating in future when visiting great langdale...
