Sat 16.07.11.Arrived 5 mins before our table booked for. We were left stood at the front door for 5 mins (even though 2 members of staff looked at us twice each), eventually we had to walk into the restaurant to get acknowledged. We were seated at a wobbly table and left for another 15 mins before we were even asked did we want a drink. Food was very nice but the service was awful. The manager blamed it on staff ringing in sick but reading other reviews they must suffer with a lot of sickness!!!!! Not somewhere we will be rushing back to.

We ate at Stock for a Friday lunch. The set menu for £10 gave us two superb courses -the ravioli was divine and the sea bass was delicious. Great value in spectacular surroundings - would highly recommend.

Went on a Saturday night using a Groupon voucher. Food was good but we felt like second class citizens ! We were clearly identified as "Groupons" and service was ok but no warmth or friendliness. They obviously have a special menu for Groupon bookings and when we asked about the "specials" we were told we couldn;t have any !. Missed opportunity to upsell since we would happily have paid a supplement for something we really wanted. Nothing wrong with the night - just nothing special either.

I purchased a groupon voucher for a two course meal for two and was really excited about taking my partner out as I had heard so many great reviews about Stock. We arrived and were shown to our seats which were in the far corner of the room, we felt abit isolated from the rest of the restaurant. The starters took quite a while to arrive and were slightly on the cool side. My mussels were of good size but the white wine sauce lack any distinctive flavour and was on the salty side, I was quite disappointed and hoped the main course would make up for it, unfortunately it did not.
The lamb was quite tasty but the the red wine jus has been reduced so much that it was like syrup and tasted like bisto. My partner ordered an escalope of veal with spaghetti and this seemed quite thrown together with a fried egg on top. The veal had been deep fried in breadcrumbs which made it extremely oily and the fried egg was undercooked. All in all Stock restaurant was a huge disappointment and I would not recommend anyone to dine there. We were lucky we did not have to pay full price but feel that this may have been why we were served sub standard food. I recently had a delicious meal at Thomas restaurant in the Northern quarter with excellent service...this is the place to go for a special meal out that will not disappoint....the cocktails are amazing too

Excellent restaurant where everything delivers. First class friendly service, gorgeous food, drinks, ambience. No matter what the occasion I have always had a fabulous time at Stocks and highly recommend a visit. The manager and staff really do go out of their way to ensure you have an enjoyable evening (or day!).

I visited Stock on Saturday 6th of Feb with a group of 6 friends and had the worst dining experience of my life.
I have read very bad reviews about Stock but decided to give them the benefit of the doubt because of the wonderful setting. I implore you to not waste your money at this establishment after our shocking experience.
Some of the waiting staff were extremely unprofessional forgetting orders, not clearing starter plates, not bringing wine lists and most worryingly being curt and rude whilst the wait for our food was intolerable.
We waited 60 minutes for starters and just before they arrived we were informed there was no pate and when they did arrive the Ravioli Neri was still cold/frozen. The mains arrived a further hour later.
Numerous complaints were made to the manager and owner who placed two bottle of house wine on our table but would not discount the bill for the long delays, mistakes, rudeness and general tardiness.
We paid the full £180 bill, tipped the one waiter (Leo) who tried to salvage the night £20 and they offered us free coffees.
A shameful example of how not to run a restaurant.

A huge disappointment on my birthday celebrations '07, with no response to my letter of complaint. Broken glass within table setting swept into my lap by brusque waiter; long delays, seated before 8pm yet some had to leave for last train 11.25pm before after dinner drinks arrived. Such a contrast to my fabulous anniversary celebration when the food and service were excellent. We have never returned since.

We came as a party of 12 to the Stock Restaurant yesterday to celebrate a birthday. The table was booked for 8.30pm. We sat down at our table at 9pm. Our starters were served at 10.10pm and our main course at 11.15pm.
Food: Had the food been hot when it arrived at the table (which it wasn’t, in particular the steaks, duck and chicken), it would certainly have been cold by the time the 2 waitresses served the whole table. This applied to both starters and main meals. My chicken livers were bitter and just off cold, the king prawn taglierini bland and dry.
Service: Extremely poor: 4 bottles of wine had been pre ordered for our table for our arrival. No one seemed to know about this and we were repeatedly given the wine list (though not offered ANY drink for the first 45 minutes after our arrival or any indication of the time delays) The door manager had a most unusual style of address in that she appeared not to acknowledge any conversation directed at her. The waits between ordering and food arriving were unacceptably long, despite the restaurant being only half full towards the end of the evening. Generally the staff seemed harassed, without care and disinterested if not downright rude. Starting our main course at 11.15pm at a table booked for 8.30pm was extremely disappointing not least as most of us were unable to eat it. A service charge of £29 was automatically added to the bill.
This was a special birthday celebrated with special friends and family and we were determined to enjoy our time together in the beautiful building, but the occasion was not helped in any way by our experience with the food and service at the Stock Restaurant.

Food good, staff absolutely dreadful. In particular the Manager and owners.
That is basically all you need to know.
We had a special offer deal, 2 for 1, and after the manager was incredibly rude to us, we ended up being dragged into the managers office to show him the offer on the website. I couldn't believe it!
Would never ever consider going back.

Only 3 staff waiting tables on a fairly busy Wednesday Night. I've visited stock a few times and everything's been near perfect before, this visit however was a bit of a let down. The staff that were working were reasonably helpful, the food seems to have become a bit rushed and my partner's gnocchi had the same sauce as my steak (although advertised differently). The food had to be sent back both at the starter and main course because it had gone cold. Lavish, exquisite surroundings but just a bit of a poor performance on the night
