Upon arriving at The swan with Two Knicks i was impressed with the old building and location. We were kindly greeted and told to find a table.
But from there it went downhill. My partner and i both ordered for starters Chorizo with potatoes. It came in a bowl covered in some spicy sauce that was so bland. The chorizo was semi warm and just made your jaw ache trying to chew it. Ive eaten chorizo in South America and their was no comparision.
For my main course i chose Cajun Chicken in Pitta Pockets and this was even worse. It tasted like the same bland sauce as the starter. I would compare it to a cheap tesco sauce in a jar.
My partner had cheese and onion pie and asked before if it came with a sauce or gravy to which she was told no. So she asked for some gravy with it. When it arrived it was already smothered in a cheese sauce. When cutting into it the pastry was soggy and grey and looked disgusting.
The waitress the poor girl asked if everything was ok to which i said no and she called the manager over. The manager said the reason my cajun sauce was bland was because the chef thought it may of been too hot for me so toned it down. WITHOUT EVEN ASKING ME!!!!!.
And worse still the chef and waitress had had a conversation between them about whether my partner wanted cheese sauce, gravy or both and decided both again WITHOUT ASKING HER.
We were offered a free desert but were already disgusted so declined.
Worse still upon getting the bill we then found we were charged £1:50 for a tiny jug of watered down gravy.
Utterly disgusted

Just got back from the Swan with Two Nicks where we had a shocking experience. We ordered our food, waited, waited, after 45 minutes enquired as to where our food was. We had young children with us, who were starving and bored by this time. We were told our order had been lost, not just forgotten but lost. They retook our order, and brought us some bread to keep the kids going. The bread was dotted with mould, so that went back. When the food finally arrived, the venison steak was dry and tough, the chips were undercooked and tasteless, the veggies over cooked... They knocked a kids meal off the bill, but we still paid over £30 for 2 poor main courses and a drink each. It used to be a great pub, we won't be going again.

I had to arrange a funeral reception at short notice and Ann at The Swan was able to accommodate our requirements. We were given the use of the restaurant area for as long as we wanted and a hot buffet was provided with two main choices and two desserts. The helpings were generous and the food was all home made and tasted excellent. The vegetables were fresh. The staff were very friendly and efficient and I cannot thank them enough.
