About The Black Boy

There has been a public house on this spot, with its prime canalside location in Knowle, since 1793. The pub has been under the same family ownership for the past 30 years and has built a solid reputation for good food and hearty portions. It seats 120 inside and another 350 in the huge beer garden with kids play area that adjoins the Grand Union Canal. The Black Boy is open all day, every day from 11.30am until late (from 12 noon on Sundays) and the Birmingham NEC is just 15 minutes away. Motorhomes are welcome too for an overnight stay.

Great sunny day sat outside enjoying the beautiful surroundings. My choice today was a long cold pimms and a Caesar salad. No wait really 20 mins even though was busy. Great pub. They have definitely got it right .

I like the Black Boy, I have special needs, and every time I go the staff always look after me. I like to sit next to the window and look out onto the canal, I like canals. The food is very nice and the gravy on the chill con carne is especially good. The price of the food is very good. I am not allowed alcohol any more but the drinks are good value, they make me a big glass of lime squash for 25p Will be going back shortly I hope Please

just been to the black boy had a great meal. the surroundings were fantastic as i drove down the long drive on one side i was greeted by 3 beautiful horses grazing in the february sunshine on the other side were daffodils in full bloom this together with excellent food and service with real value for money what more could you want. i will definitely be back.

Yanks here to visit family for 2nd time. Great meals on both occasions. Right on the canal. Must be great in the summer.

Excellent size portions, hearty well made meals with lots of options. Good prices and nice setting, especially in the summer. Advise visiting here more so than those chain restaurants for that little bit extra.
