I wanted somewhere to eat in Formby and this is quite a long way away. The map isn't accurate so finding it was difficult. We arrived at 2pm and ordered straight away. It was nearly 3pm by the time our food arrived. We had a 2 yr old, so keeping him happy for that length of time was a challenge. There was nothing wrong with the food, but, by the time it arrived we were all so hungry that we would've eaten anything. We won't be going back.

Highly recommend this pub! Good beers, great staff and the food is beyond comparison at thie price. The pound and a penny meals are lovely, and for 30p more than it would cost for a packet of crisps.

I am a member of a walking group, and my favourite walk is tomorrow which happens to be the walk from Seaforth to Hightown with lunch in the Hightown Hotel. It is always a friendly welcome with a good choice of real ales, including a managers special offer and a cracking menu to choose from. It is also handy for popping on the train back to Southport,

Sadly this once fine pub has an absentee landlord, regularly runs out out beer, through not paying the bills on time.
It is also swamped by army personel from the nearby army camp.
It is NOT a place to take your family for a quite drink.

Nice pub, OK atmosphere, but a disgusting man for a landlord, be a nice place without him

The cost was average but not worth a penny. The food was dreadful and had to be sent back, as the chicken was not cooked properly, service was slow with the staff standing at the ends of the bars chatting or reading magazines. The only decent thing to come out of it was the bar manager Vicky was a delight.

Stumbled across this place as I was going to the beach, this is a really nice pub, the atmosphere is good and the service and bar staff are excellent. the food is top notch, 2 4 1 on meals on a week day. you have to try the 20 ounce steak though it was cooked to perfection. I am a regular every Sunday now.

They have a buy one get one free on a monday, and the portions do NOT decrease like in most pubs.
The food is good prices are fair and the ambience is a nice friendly welcoming pub.
Its worth a trip i go at least once a week now after stumbling on it by accident.
Hightown Hotel
Excellent range of cask beers.
A pub for the whole family.
Hightown Hotel
Let's not go crazy - it's not as bad as it was, but the food isn't brilliant by any stretch of the imagination. Nice pub though.
