Took my family and parents the other night, great value again at £10.95 for 3 courses, food excellent, but what made it was the attentive staff and the ambience of the place.
I do hope the only thing they change here from time to time is the menu they have a winning formula with the small cosy setting and very good food. Well done again

Myself and family enjoyed a lovely meal last Friday. I was originally going to eat at a well know chain that rhymes with hanky and jennys, however I remembered House after trying at short notice to eat there once before only failing because they were booked up. This time again was very short notice (only 30mins) The host was not sure about fitting us in but agreed as long as his table was clear for 8pm, which was not a problem as we were going to the cinema afterwards. We had a really nice meal, nothing too pretentious but good quality simple food and great value. The atmosphere is very nice and I will be going again. Only problem is it too handy to where we live!!

Having a small child, our nights out are limited and so we have to choose wisely. A wrong decision on a Saturday night and that? it until the next month or two.... We fancied steak and so thought about going to the Gaucho again, but also wanted something new and not the laborious drive and taxi journey home from town. So having had a look on Sugarvine we decided to give the House in Altrincham a go. I am so glad we did. We managed to get a table at short notice and were not disappointed. The starters were great but nothing amazing, although it was the first restaurant I could take my veggie mother and she would be able to eat nearly everything, rather than the veggie section being an afterthought! The main course.......Blimey...... If you like your steak..... Forget the Gaucho, head here. I had the fillet, I'm a bit of a steak snob, rare and it was done to perfection. The other half had the rump-medium rare and again it was like a cooking lesson on how they should be cooked. They came with the most beautiful chips which were so potatoey and lovely. And the pepper sauce/pan juices were mouth watering. Our dessert was again superb, the other half had ice cream which not only had the lovely vanilla bits in but also came with its own side dish of hot choc sauce...hmmmm I was really cheeky and asked for strawberries which weren't on the menu but they did dutifully provide. In a fantastic huge dish with whipped cream and pouring cream..... It was like they had read my mind on my favourite dessert. I am writing this at 23.19 after the night in question.. I can't wait to go back!

I went for the Early-Dinner Menu; three courses for £10.95, along with my parents. I was worried, as they expect large portions, but our meal was a lovely balance of quality and quantity.
I had salmon and cod fishcakes for starters, followed by an 8oz steak with chunky chips, and pear and almond tart - each of the courses was hearty, traditional fare. The puddings were huge, and the service was prompt and pleasant, in a very casual and relaxed atmosphere.
This is not experimental food, but the quality was excellent, and the food caringly prepared. A very pleasant, laid-back restaurant, and excellent value.
