Having been a regular visitor to Hereford for years, the one thing I have noticed is the lack of good quality food available for the people wanting to dine out there, we have family living in Hereford and like to eat out on occasions when we visit them.
We live in Birmingham and so are spoilt for choice when choosing to eat out on one occasion that we chose to eat out in a pub near Hereford Racecourse, I had steak and ale pie, there was no gravy in the dried up pastry, and one piece of grisly meat that was supposed to be steak, the ham on one of the lunches looked similar to ham but was inedible because it was just a tasteless piece of rubbish.
When visiting another pub about 20 past 2 in the afternoon, at a pub in Breadwardine, the first comment from the owner was that food was stopped being served at 2, but because there were several of us he would serve us, wow nice to be wanted, the menu consisted of about 6 items!!!!!!
On a recent visit to our family, they said they had been for a meal at a local pub called the Kinnersley, after our experience of pub meals in the area we were a bit reluctant to dine out in Hereford again and particularly as we had my sister and her husband with us but we were all starving and needed sustenance so when seeing the sign for The Kinnersley we turned off, we were driving along the A438 so had to drive along a lane about 3quarters of a mile long, had we known we would have driven up to the A4112 and turned off at the sign for The Kinnersley, it was about 2 minutes off the A4112.
On the 11th July 2009 we made our second visit to The Kinnersley in less than a month and again it was well worth the drive down from Birmingham.
Being a child of the 1940’s I was well acquainted with rabbit meat so was interested to see in on the menu at The Kinnersley, the menu goes on forever, and is all good quality food, the service is next to none.
Cant remember what the others in our group were eating because I was enjoying my meal too much, well I would have if people didn’t keep asking to taste my rabbit, all were impressed with this tasty lean meat.
This pub really is a little gem that’s been hidden away a short distance off the A4112, if you drive along the A438 it’s the main road from Hereford to Kington, when you see the sign for Leominster turn right, along there about half a mile and you will see a black sign indicating where to turn off for The Kinnersley, I will guarantee after tasting the food there your visit will not be a one off visit.
Also they have a great system of special deals, you go there at 5-30 you pay £5-50, you got there at 6-30 you pay £6-50, you go there at 7-30, you pay £7-50 and that’s for anything on the menu, and is available from Sunday till Thursday.
