Chef-owner Paul Franklin and his wife Svenia re-opened The Loughpool in February 2015. Set in the beautiful Herefordshire countryside northwest of Ross-on-Wye, their black-and-white timbered cottage is full of character with flagstones, rustic furniture and a wood burner helping create a warm and welcoming interior. There is also a pretty outside beer garden where you are free to drink or eat, weather permitting. Dogs are welcome too inside and out but must be kept on a lead. Paul was classically trained in France and his style of cooking combines Modern British and Classical French with the emphasis on taste and seasonality. Menus change constantly in line with what’s available locally and there is also an extensive wine list to complement the food. The Loughpool caters for all occasions, ranging from a simple lunch to a romantic meal, a family gathering and even small wedding parties.
