This canalside inn is just a mile or so out of Glasson Dock at Conder Green. Converted from an old grain mill in 1992, the building dates back to the 18th century and now boasts 16 en suite rooms as well as a brand-new function suite. The Hurst family took over the reins here in 2011 and completely refurbished the venue inside and out. All the bedrooms are well appointed with modern styling and all boast canal or countryside views. It's a popular retreat for nature lovers, cyclists, walkers and business guests too with Lancaster and the university only a short drive away. Dogs are welcome. Food is served every day at lunch and dinner with the Contemporary Lancashire menu overseen by Executive Chef Barry Jackson (ex-Hilton Hotels). You can choose from three dining areas with the Lock-Keepers Room the pick of the bunch looking out onto the towpath, canal lock and countryside beyond. And the smart new function suite caters for up to 120 people.
