Absolutely terrible, I found a hair in my food, wouldn't recommend to a homeless person, waited ages for my food and waitress was incredibly ignorant. The pizza was ok but not great, interior is quite nice, overall, I hated it and thought it was a waste of money.

After having not been to the Pack Horse for some years, I was interested to see whether it had changed - no - the decor was very dated - something out of the 80's!
The food wasn't much better. Stuffed mushrooms and garlic bread were okay, nothing special, but the tortellini della casa was bland, overcooked mush. Other members of the party were disappointed in the undercooked pizza base, the chicken which was already cooked and re-heated and the abysmal service. Service was no better. We were told the chef was incapable of dealing with 2 separate orders from 1 large table (so we couldn't split the bill). Drinks took forever to be served, jugs of water arrived after we had finished our main course, along with side salads - again, after we finished our main courses. I can't think of any reason to recommend the Pack Horse to anybody

Leave well alone, my Son's pizza was runny greasy and burnt. When he complained he was told it is the correct way to serve pizza. Intimidated in front of other diners and ended up paying and leaving quickly as other diners were staring.
No apology, no answer to complaint letter. (My son has worked as a pizza chef by the way so knows his stuff)

Staff very hard working, disagree with 1 comment of a high staff turnover, we have been eating here for years & mostly the same staff have stayed there, other than that staff stay a few years then go to university - the same for any restaurant.
Food is excellent, reasonably priced, nicely decorated, would recommend anyone trying.

Have been going here for a good number of years. Generally good Italian cuisine but not many italian staff!
Despite always booking never expect to sit down usually up to an hour later than your booking time.
Also they also seem to have a high staff turnover of waiting-on staff, usually college age people. Went recently and no rest period between first and second course which I find unacceptable.
Despite the above the spare ribs are our fave...the garlic bread to die for... the pollo ala creme yum yum and my favourite the calzone pizza

The mid-week table d'hote menu is excellent value with a good choice, including wine. If you prefer a much wider choice then the a' la carte menu is superb with very generous portions. Friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Booking recommended especially at peak times.
