We had a really great meal here on Saturday 23 February 2013. We are not from the area but spotted this as we were driving around looking for Indian or Asian food. Although it was quite early (6pm) the restaurant was fully open and we were given a warm welcome. The interior of the restaurant is really lovely with a rich dark red decor, comfortable seating and nice lighting. The menu had some favourite Indian dishes but also some specials that we hadn't heard of.We (me and my husband) had poppadoms with chutneys. The chutneys were especially nice and they were quite large portions. For starters we had a boti kebab and a mixed grill. Both were excellent; nice sized portions with lovely chicken/meat and salad. The lamb on the mixed grill was particularly excellent. For our main courses we had a chicken masalla dish and a traditional vindaloo with aloo. For accompaniaments we had a sweet peshwari nan bread and some plain rice.It was lovely, fresh tasting, hot, beutifully served and really delicious. We really enjoyed our dinner. I would also like to mention the service which was great, the staff seemed genuinely nice and helpful. I asked for a rum coffee and the waitress made a special point of checking which rum I wanted. We thought that everything about the restaurant was nice and we both said we would go back if we were in the area again.

Ordered takeaway on Saturday night was told that the food was really good. Time of arrival was supposed to be 30-45mins turned up around 1hr 10mins the food was cold forgot the poppadom's which we had paid for. Rang the restaurant to advise as the driver has just left to be told they'd discount our next order!! Told the woman on the phone to get the driver to return but surprise, surprise he didn't turn up!! Very disappointing and we won't be returning or recommending to anyone else!!!

Went to look for Sardar restaurant but found out its been moved to The Palatine Bar & Restaurant and it has to be the worst meal ive ever eaten.I spent £28 on a takeaway and would of been better off eating beans on toast.
The chicken madras as soon as i opened it looked liked it had been heated out of a tin. There was no taste at all and just lumps of chicken in a tomato sauce. The nan bread was dry and burnt and the onion bhajis dry and tasteless.
Overall a very very bad meal and im more disappointed because ive been to Spice on the same road twice and the foods amazing
