The change in the Pheasant made me emotional. The Inn Collection Group have ripped the soul out of this former genteel haven. Gone are the lounges and character. Its now just a pub restaurant, no longer an Inn. They have introduced the group redesign and furniture even though it doesn't suit this venue. Food is ok, just pub grub now with sachets of ketchup and vinegar at your table at dinner. The service was good and friendly and our room was nice and spacious. However if you liked it before you'll hate it now.

The Pheasant is now under new ownership, part of a pub group, and it’s very much the end of an era, I’m afraid. I suppose if you’ve never been before and your expectations are basically pub food and a room for the night in a quieter part of the Lake District then it fits the bill – albeit at the pricier end of the spectrum. But the charm, the fine dining, the decent wine list, the hidden gem in the north Lakes – it’s all gone. Such a shame.

Wonderful 2 days at The Pheasant Bassenthwaite. Our room was lovely and the original bar was amazing! We ate in both dining rooms and both meals were excellent! Would heartily recommend The Pheasant to anyone!

Love the pheasant. Didn't stay this time just popped in for lunch in the bistro. Great food and service in a spot that I hope never changes.

Very much enjoyed my guinea fowl in the bistro last night, tasted as good as the presentation...

Stayed here on the recommendation of Sugarvine. My partner and I were very impressed and loved the food in the brasserie. A real gem of a rural retreat in the North Lakes.

Love the new Brasserie here. Nice change from the more formal dining room. It's encouraged more of the locals to go more regularly. If I didn't live so close I'd stay over too

This was my first stay at the Pheasant, I was delighted with the 'Oldy worldy' charm of the building and the fantastic five hundred year old bar situated inside the hotel. This is the perfect place to relax in, completely devoid of modern day trappings!!
Great for a lazy weekend, it is surrounded by pretty countryside perfect for an amble before Sunday lunch. The food was enjoyable, an excellent British menu to chooses from, I will definitely be returning soon for another relaxing weekend.

A special venue that our family have been frequenting for years. Expect a very traditional and character filled country coaching inn. The dining room is of the old school, starch linen, heavy silver with hearty satisfying British cuisine. A great feature of the Inn is the bar with its original smoke stained and varnished walls.
