It is sad about the fire but good news the new restaurant in Shipley serves food just as good as it did in Bradford. Excellent cuisine and service. I will keep going back and so should you!!!!!

Visited with my husband, who is notoriously fussy but likes to try new cuisines. We were both very impressed with the food - I had the mushroom pancake, chicken kiev and black chocolate mousse while he had the borscht, pelmeni and ice cream, plus a shot of raspberry vodka. All were absolutely delicious. Service was a little slow as the restaurant was full of people cashing in their Groupon vouchers, but the manager made a point of explaining and apologising. Would definitely visit again.

Great I thought - I'd promised my partner food she had never tried before and this would be the perfect place to take her for a surprise romantic meal. I should have sensed problems ahead when they didn't respond to my two emails over the course of a week and then every time I tried to call I was diverted to the no service dial tone. I finally managed to speak to someone the night before and thought I had booked a table although the person I spoke to seemed to understand little of what I was saying to her. She did, however, repeat my request for a table at 5.30 Saturday for two people. Thought it was strange when she didn't take my name. Aw well I thought, they mustn't get that busy that early. I turned up at 5.20 on Saturday with my girlfriend who was very excited at the prospect of eating a meal here. The sign on the wall clearly stated 5pm opening time (I had checked this already). The door was locked, I knock, no answer. I look inside and the place is clearly shut, no lights on and no staff. I tried knocking again and after ten minutes ate somewhere else (Akbars - was excellent - like a real restaurant). All I can say is that I am surprised they are still operating as a business, what a joke. I hear they like Sushi in Moscow so if you are thinking of eating here then don't waste your time and go for a Japanese instead.

Very excited to visit this restaurant after reading rave reviews I when I bought a Groupon Voucher I was on my way....... We arrived at the venue and told there was no white wine so we would have to have red, we were then told they had none of the things that we wanted to taste so we were left with limited choice -we could only have one soup but it was very nice then for main course my husband had fish in almonds which when opened was un cooked actually raw we called the waitress who gave us the menu and said we could have anything we wanted then brought us two glass of white wine!!! we decide to have 2 sweets and left the restaurant Also during the meal I asked the waitress where the toilet was situated and she showed me the direction I stepped back and fell down the stair very badly hurting both knees and was very shocked u nobody came to see how I was from the management the waitress tried to help me but was very busy - very disappointed in this restaurant

Cannot comment on the food but can comment on the fact that I made a booking for Monday 12th March, drove from Manchester and the restaurant was closed. I can comment on the fact that after speaking to a member of staff on the phone no explanation was given as to why they were shut. Food may be good ,vodka flowing but obviously very unreliable.

Married to a delightful Russian lady all things Russian fascinate me. Been to the Russian Restaurant a number of times, my choice for birthday celebrations. Unless you know its location you may find that it is hard to find in a city of curry houses. Once your through the red doors a warm welcome receives you from Vlad and his staff. Good hearty food, great selection of vodka, if you can don't drive. Ice cold vodka and gherkins typically Russian - fantastic. You will not be disappointed. Give it a try, don't believe the Russians are cold - definitely not true.

I had what was probably my worst meal out at the Russian Restaurant. The owner was very pleasant. We had a nice chat. However, the food was bad. I ordered stroganoff and was puzzled to find it was topped with cheese! This was definitely not stated in the menu. The beef was tough and the sad salad consisted of a lettuce leaf, part of a tomato and some sliced onion. The starter claimed to be home made pickled vegetables. which sounded different. Apart from some cabbage, the rest was from a tin or jar: cornichons; button mushrooms (not the wild ones the menu stated) and a few olives. This item was seriously over-priced. The cooking was poor; the presentation depressing. The restaurant was a serious let-down.

We were looking around for somewhere to eat, in central Bradford, and decided to try the Russian Restaurant as we've never experienced Russian food before. We were greeted by the owner who was very friendly and took time to have a chat and explain some of the dishes. Although some might find the interior dated, it had a good atmosphere, was really well laid out and was impeccably clean - even the toilets, which is a rarity! All dishes arrived promptly, looked great and tasted amazing. The owner was always on hand at the right times but never intrusively so, and nothing was too much trouble. We were just coming to the end of the week's holiday in Yorkshire, having eaten out a couple of times each day, and this was definitely the best place for service. Good value for money, too, so we felt really lucky to have come across it.

We have now visited the Russian Restaurant more times than I can count and have always found the quality of both the food and service to be of the highest standard - and the bill always seems to be amazingly small. Vlad is the warmest of hosts, and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The menu is diverse and the food always cooked to perfection with clearly quality ingredients. I think the fact that in February we feasted in the Russian Restaurant on 3 consecutive evenings (and enjoyed a completely different, wonderful, meal each night) speaks for itself. I often work in London, and have been fortunate enough to be taken to several City restaurants that are seen to be among the best that London has to offer. They were interesting experiences - but is it always the Russian Restaurant that I look forward to coming back to.

Fabulous Food!!! Been here a few times now and just can't stop going back and every time I take my friends they want more of it. Vlad and Natalia are great- A great Host and a Fantastic Chef. I have tried real Russian before when I Lived in Russia and this restaurant brings back the enchanting memories and make me Nostalgic. Thank you Vlad and Natalia for bringing real Heart of Russia to Yorkshire!
