From the call to book the table my wife and myself were treated with the upmost courtesy and pleasantry from Tom, the two young ladies were also very welcoming and had a lovely friendly attitude in conversation. Now the food, I had a Mixed Grill which was terrific with excellent portions and without being overfacing and my wife had the Sirloin Steak with compliments throughout her meal, we hadn't been to the Sitting Goose for a few years but after tonight it will be a restaurant that we will look forward to visiting and enjoying the friendliness of the Staff and the quality of food that is cooked by the behind the scene staff and delivered by the ladies, thank you to all, we will see you soon.

My daughters and I went for a midweek meal. Prior to arriving
I phoned ahead to ask if they were still doing the sugarvine 2 for 1 offer ( which includes burgers) and the man who answered assured me that they did. When we arrived we were told that the advertisement was inaccurate and burgers weren't included, which was a problem as we all wanted burgers. I showed the waiter the sugarvine ad but he was pretty uninterested and just told me that it was wrong. We ordered two fish and chips and a childrens burger. The fish was ok, tartar sauce nice, mushy peas good but the chips were really cheap frozen ones, and had that crumbly texture inside. The childrens burger and chips was a good sized portion and reasonable at £3.99 but a very cheap and nasty burger and the same frozen chips. Plus we asked for cheese and bacon on it and got a sliver of each for an extra £1.50. Overall we were not impressed and won't be going again. It sounded like a good offer hut you get whet you pay for. It's a shame, because the place is lovely inside and the waitress who served us was very nice.

Never had a bad meal like this one, half cooked food, I asked for it to be replaced which they did for a part burn one and still frozen in the middle, call the girl over who was bl@*dy rude, NEVER going back..

Dined here recently with family. Was greeted with a smile by the very friendly waitresses and shown to a table quickly. Had a seafood chowder and homemade apple crumble, and both of these were absolutely faultless. Felt very full and pleased after the meal. The one thing I did pick up on was the manageress shouting at the waitresses in the dining area. I don't know what happened but I felt it was unprofessional on their part, as the waitress seemed visibly embarrassed. Aside from this, great dining experience 4/5

Dined here last Thursday evening. I must say what a hidden gem. Real ale, Real fires and Real food. We were seated in the conservatory by our very friendly waitress who told us the specials for the day. the menu was varied and the choice plentiful.I had the chicken wrapped in bacon with a leek and cheese sauce it was beautifully cooked and moist with fresh vegetables and home cooked fat chips, my wife had the beef strogonoff and she was a very happy lady!! obviously cooked to order with strips of steak with lashings of cream and wine, she had rice and garlic bread all included and i had to help her finish it ( a man has these things to do :) ) they had a great range of cakes in a display fridge but we had had our fill already. We finished off with a pint by the roaring fire before heading for home very full. I would heartily recommend a trip to the sitting goose but don't eat too much the day before.

Never failed to come away having had great food, well served ale and met a familiar face. Conservatory is a nice venue with open aspects. Well worth the run out.

Used to eat at the Sitting Goose a couple of years ago. Unfortunately on arrival last night the dining area was very cold and we would have had to sit with our coats on. Although they did put the heating on.
So we decided to sit in the main bar area.
The whole place including the menus looked very tired and uninviting. It didn't help with the view of the disabled toilet from our table and when moving our table, the line of chewing gum, underneath caught on my hands, yuk !
Sorry but we will not be returning.

Enjoyed a really good and wholesome meal in the conservatory here. The choice is excellent with something for all tastes. Well looked after by the staff in a friendly manner. Would recommend this meal and the run in the country to my friends which would make for a most enjoyable evening
