The Thomas Tripp on Wick Lane in Christchurch is an old smugglers haunt, named after a brigand and local hero who was finally apprehended here and later hanged. Today it’s a pub and freehouse that’s brim full of character with stripped wooden floors and oil paintings adorning the bare brick walls. Food is served right through from 12 noon daily and Head Chef Quentin Royles is passionate about local produce. Expect traditional pub favourites with a twist. You can eat anywhere in the pub as well as in the covered garden with heaters. There’s a great drinks selection too with a constantly changing choice of cask ales and craft lager. The Thomas Tripp is also a popular music venue with live acts as often as five nights a week in high season.
