A fantastic restaurant of the quality that you would expect somewhere like London. The chateaubriand was absolutely amazing. It`s about sixty mile round trip for us, but we still go when we can. It`s definitely worth travelling to.

Went to Truffles in October 2011. What a fantastic find. We had a superb meal and found everyone pleasant and attentive. The chef/patron James deserves to do well and if you haven't tried this restaurant yet - why not!!!!!

As vegetarians, we sometimes struggle to find something different on the menu. At Truffles the vegetarian dishes are original and delicious - we have never been disappointed. Lovely atmosphere too..

The only restaurant in the Preston/Chorley area where I have never had a bad meal or service- it`s always fantastic. I`m getting to the point where I don`t want to bother going anywhere else. Anyone thinking of trying truffles- don`t be put off by the old-fashioned exterior..the inside is lovely and modern, and the food has traditional and adventurous options.

Agree with the previous reviewer/. Arrived on 5th November and the restaurant was largely empty which of course impacts on the atmosphere.
However the staff and James the boss/head chef where very attentive and made us feel very welcome.
The food was excellent . I had scallops for a starter which were the most "scallopy" scallops I'd had for ages. For the main I had lamb which was melt in the mouth and in a delicious sauce. and then for a dessert I had caramelised pineapple, apple and banana in a ginger infused syrup with ice cream--the flavours in that were spectacular.
I'm gob-smacked the restaurant is not full all the time . Couple of things...the lighting changes colours and doesn't doesn't do the appearance of the food any favours--when the lights shift to yellow/orange it looks beautiful, when its red it looks like something out of a horror film.
The menu is interesting and I wonder whether it feels as adventurous as some of the menus you see on the plethora of tv shows nowadays. I'd have to say that what it doesn't bring out is the care that James takes in sourcing his food and the fact that he cooks his food better than the majority of restaurants in the region.
We'll definitely be going back for gourmet evenings that they hold regularly there and I do hope that a few more folk go through the doors---the care and attention and great food deserve it.

This was our first time at truffles and we were very impressed. Initially we unsure as it was a wednesday night and the restaurant was largely empty, however we were soon won over by the extensive menu and excellent quality food. The staff were very attentive and despite there only being a few customers the staff were thoughtful about the seating ensuring there was still plenty of atmosphere. We had a lovely night and cant understand why this restaurant isn't packed every night of the week with such good food for reasonable prices. We particularly liked the ability to mix and match between the bistro and a la carte menus meaning that a night out need not be costly either! Our only slight irritation was the lighting - whilst it did create ambience by changing colour, during certain phases of the cycle it was difficult to see the food!

Truffles is worth trying- the food is consistently high quality at a very fair price. From simple steaks to more complex fusion dishes, James the owner/chef enjoys showing his culinary skills. The very wide choice of food, plus a small, but good wine list , combined with excellent service always make a night out there memorable .
I'd recommend you try Truffles and support a quality independent local restaurant .

I have been to Truffles on many occasions and have found it to be the only consistently good restaurant in my area. I believe that this is because the owner James is also the chef, and is always there. He even personally comes to the table to ask if everything is satisfactory. The food is always wonderful, and doesn`t seem to be as expensive as other restaurants that produce the same type of menu. I have also heard wonderful things about the gourmet nights, but I have yet to try one. I will keep you posted!

Fantastic, what more can I say!
Been twice now and both times the food was incredible, thoughtful but not over the top presentation and lots of distinct and full flavours and textures, all cooked to perfection.
Lovely staff and chef remembered us from the last time! I actually loved the sorbet so much I could have eaten that as a standalone desert!
However, the sorbet was pipped to the post by the most delicious and tasty dessert I've ever eaten - the amazing sticky toffee pudding! I'm not usually a dessert man, but it was so good I could have eaten about ten of them!
Please, please, please don't ever take that off the menu!

I have eaten at Truffles on countless occasions, and it has always been fantastic. I`m writing this recommendation because i`m going to the Thai night with my friends, and I`m so excited about it that I was reading the menu again and saw this link. Try this restaurant! the food is beautiful, especially the gourmet nights...I promise that you will never have had anything like it. Also,I used to work there so I know that the kitchen is spotless and the food is all fresh and home cooked...right down to the petit fours which I hated making. Anyway, I can`t think of a better recommendation that one from someone who has seen all the goings on and still counts this restaurant as far and away the best. So thank you James is advance for the fantastic meal that we`ll be having on Friday, but no thanks for ensuring that I whinge about every other meal I go out for, as I compare it to those at Truffles.
