What can I say, I've never submitted a review before but after my experience on Saturday night (and since) I felt compelled to relate my views on Viva Espana. My partner and I booked a table for 8pm, upon arriving we were greeted pleasantly, given our menus and ordered drinks. It was all downhill from there, it took close on 45 mins for our dishes to arrive, the couple on the adjacent table also ordered at the same time and also waited a similar ludicrous amount of time.
When the dishes finally arrived the olives I ordered didn't arrive, frankly by that point I couldn't be bothered telling them though it didn't stop them from putting it on the bill. the food was reasonable, we paid the bill and left.
Very soon after leaving I started to feel queasy and gradually became increasingly unwell culminating in spending most of the night being violently sick and having severe diarrohea symptoms and as I write this on Monday evening I'm only just starting to feel human again. I'm afraid I can only attribute this to something I ate at the restaurant most likely culprit being the mixed fried seafood dish.
Needless to say with the substandard service combined with a severe bout of food poisoning I'd recommend anyone to give this place the widest possible berth.

We visited Viva Espana for the first time on a Wednesday night. It was a good job that we'd booked, it's such a tiny place. Very homely, authentic music adds to the atmosphere. The food portions were larger than expected so we ordered too much. We will have to return so that we can try a pudding, as the menu looked very tempting. All the tapas we ate were very tasty. Parking just across the road and good service. We definitely recommend.

Absolutely our FAVOURITE restaurant! We've been going to Viva Espana for about 8 years and we love it. The atmosphere is wonderful and relaxed, and the choice of food is wide. We've tried many dishes from the menu, plus new ones as added, and we've never had any disappointment. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the prices are good too. This certainly won't break the bank and you'll leave wanting to book another night. Highly recommended!

A bit of Spain in Horwich???
Yes!!! It's true
Service could do with more "presence". but food was excellent and certainly a true taste of Spain - authentic tapas.

A very colourful, happy and relaxed evening. The menu is enticing and very competitively priced for the area...delicious, very authentic tasting food with oodles of garlic and chilli. superb service by very friendly and facetious waitress who was professional and thorough! Highly recommended!

Viva Espana is what I look for in a restaurant, small cosy and inviting. A wonderful little tapas bar serving authentic homemade Spanish cuisine served by Spanish staff. Javier, the owner, is a wonderful host, and the lovely chatty Friday night waitress both deserve a special mention. We have enjoyed everything on the menu and feel there is little that could improve the restaurant although a daily specials board would be most appreciated . Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone for a fantastic meal out.
