Having read the reports on Volare we decided to give it a go.
The restaurant has a lovely cosy atmosphere and the service was good friendly and attentive.
The menu is extensive with a full suite of Mediterranean options.
We chose calamari but found them to be of the deep fried heavily battered variety and had been cooked before the fryer got to temperature resulting in a fat laden offering which was refunded when we were asked if it was good. We also chose the mussels - which were delicious but we had to request the crusty bread offered with it in the menu as this had been overlooked.
For mains one went for pizza and the other went for salmon.
The pizza was felt to have been the pre-frozen variety and had the soggiest of soggy bottoms and little taste - the salmon however was superb.
Overall the meal was disappointing and this might well be the result of having too large a range of options on the menu resulting in the use of many pre prepared meals.
£46 for 2 people seemed a lot ( including £14.00 for a bottle of wine) however if the food had been up to scratch this would have been OK.
Shame really - the restaurant has many redeeming features but we doubt if we will take the lotters of it's food quality again by returning.

The food was gorgeous but I wouldn't recommend the service - the waitresses appeared to be rushed and stressed, and they looked very young. I think it is a little expensive for the quality.
