went for a meal on 2nd of may 2011 had to wait half an hour to get a table,so was hoping for some good food and what a let down it was, nachos for 2 to start with but needed a magnifying glass 2 see the cheese on top, then we had steak and duck main course steak was o.k. came with Caesar salad chips you don't get any veg, the duck again OK the skin not crispy which is nice when u have duck some salad and burned roast potatoes which it came with had to ask for hoisin sauce which they forgot wish i had not bothered because it was not nice at all, but wait i can recommend the garlic bread with cheese best part of the meal. I would say do not waste your money cost £35.00 ive had much better meals on a two for £10.00 deal would never go again.
Not A Fussy Eater
Been here twice. First time we waited 50 minutes for our meal only to send the T-bone steak back as it was inedible. Second time we ordered sea bass (menu said 2 fillets) and only one arrived; there were no strawberries as advertised with the cheesecake; and the banoffee pie looked more like eton mess. Also no spoons left - could we use a fork? Never again will we set foot in the place!

we go to the wiggin tree twice a week, the food is brilliant, but the service is terrible, the staff are always stood around the bar talking instead of looking after customers, they seem to have a table near the bar were they all congregate. we put up with the bad service because the food is good but other people will not.
There never seems to be a manager around. We have been going for 6months and have never seen a manager, there is always young staff on who don't care about the customer, there is only 1 member of staff who is good and that is the older lady with the glasses(she is very attentive) & looks after customers well, perhaps she should train the young ones in how to deal with customers as the management don't seem to be bothered.

Service was good, though waitress had an uncanny knack of shouting and being very giddy! But she was working on her own!! Food was quite poor considering the price, small portions, you had to pay extra for veg or salad so it worked out quite expensive for what you got. Also - we were told that many things on the menu were sold-out - Fish, steak, wine!! It was only 7pm on a Saturday night!! Problems with the stock-control there! The decor was lovely - but they need to sort out the problems above before we would return.

Pity you don't have another box for dissatisfied customers as I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND the Wiggin Tree - meal took over 1 and half hours to be served to table after asking about the slow service and if there were any problems in the kitchen. When it arrived it was poor to say the least and the fries were only warm and looked like they had been sitting around for half an hour. We ordered coffee - makes no difference what you order, you get a bog-standard version which takes another 25 minutes to get to table. Take my advice, choose somewhere else for your pub lunch. :(

Sat 31st January. Restaurant freezing cold. Service abysmal, Starters passable, main course abysmal. Veg was inedible. Half of restaurant closed off, not many customers in, looked as though there was no chef on duty and the few staff (we only saw 4) were trying unsuccessfully to cope
Mad
The worst place I have ever eaten. The food took over an hour, the main courses were a joke which I would not have even served to a dog! Even when we complained about the food there was no apology from the manager. The owner of this place should be ashamed!

We tried the Wiggin Tree early evening on a wet Friday. Having witnessed the recent renovation whilst regularly passing it in the car I expected good decor and ambience. I was not disappointed, a rustic edge and slightly old fashioned but not too twee, deceptively large dining areas and background 'chill out' music all gave good first impressions.
A little surprised to see the lunch time menu was still operated up until 6pm but the choice was reasonable and prices not excessive. We selected the stilton and watercress soup as starters which was tasty although the accompanying crusty bread was soft and uninviting. For mains we tried the home made burger and roasted peppers. A little disappointing, the burger lacked taste and I had anticipated chunky seasoned chips instead of the insipid fries dished up. The pepper was, at best, okay but needed to be served hot, not luke warm.
We shared a desert, the apple and gooseberry crumble, which was not only big enough but, pleasant to taste and hot.
In all, a decent place to sit and eat, reasonable prices but food is only average.

We visited on the 28/4/08, the restaurant wasn't particularly busy for a Sunday night but we had a 40 min wait for the food which went it arrived was cold and disappointing. The menu is very limited and the prices are high compared to the portions and quality. We will not be returning! Bar prices are high too.

Myself and my family visited the Wiggin Tree on the 5th April 2008. Terrible! We went in on the off chance around 2pm. The restaurant and pub were both virtually empty. The menu did not have that much to choose from. I also had my four year old nephew with me and there was nothing for him to choose from so he had a side orde of chips. We ordered three steak and chips and a burger and chips. The steak was fatty and the chips were frozen. you also got a piece of lettuce and a slice of tomato. The burger was so small, half the size of the bun itself. The waitress hovered over us all the time making it uncomfortable to eat. The view is from the restaurant is breath taking, only to be ruined by an Asda van delivering the groceries! The whole meal Was just too dear for the quality that you received.
