Yak and Yeti is a family run Nepalese restaurant with close connections to the Gurkha Signal Squadron based in York. Nepali cuisine is quite different to its Indian cousin and exploring the menu is a real culinary adventure. You might start with a Mo:Mo, a type of steamed bun that’s a traditional delicacy in Nepal and Tibet. Or maybe try Sukuti, a dish prepared with dry buffalo meat. For mains, Gurkhali Pork is one of the most popular curries on the menu whilst Thukpa is a noodle soup from the foothills of the Himalayas. There are fish and vegetarian dishes as well as the classic Dal Bhat, an all-inclusive Nepali meal with rice, potato, bamboo shoots curry, saag, lentil soup and either meat, fish or vegetables. Yak and Yeti is fully licensed and they even have their own take on liqueur coffee, Jhaikhatte (Mustang Coffee), made from coffee, honey, roasted rice and brandy - popular in the trekking region of Ghandruk.
