i went in two weeks ago with a couple of friends and I have to say that this is the worst place ever for service and food. food is not even near to italian and the staff and management are completely useless. my recommendation is: dont go there

Went to this restaurant on Friday night and our experience was not good.Had heard good things about the restaurant and was waiting for a special occasion to go there but would now not go back again and would not recommend it to anyone. Used to run a restaurant and i can tell you if any of my staff had behaved in the way there's did they wouldn't have a job to come back to. We were told to sit in the bar area which was freezing cold.Had a drinks order taken and food order promptly but everything after that went down hill. The starters came and after finishing them we start for twenty minutes before they were cleared with empty drinks glasses which we were not asked if we wanted refilled and not apologised to about the wait. The staff had barely any other customers in to serve but seemed to prefer to stand round talking and one girl even said when pointed out that we had finished to her other colleague that she did not care as her shift did not start for another 5 minutes.Good customer service! Then went our mains came they were cold and i can only assume this is due to the length of time it took for them to call our table away. There were no check backs on us and to get the bill and anymore drinks we had to go to the bar ourselves. My boyfriend actually got up and got the black pepper grinder and put it on both our meals for us because we were not offered anything when the mains came. They were just put on the table and then the waitress walked away. Very disappointing. For the high calibre image that Zeligs wants to portray, the staff clearly aren't matching up to it or helping to achieve what could be a successful restaurant

1st Jan 2010 went for our anniversary. Loved the building and the musicians were great. Starters were very nice, but the good news ends there. Ordered 2 different fillet steaks both with mash. When the waiter came he didn't know which was which so he asked another guy who told us one was a 'rib-eye'? which it wasn't, neither had a clue and were very inexperienced. We then had to ask for knives and forks. The mash was stone cold and the meat overcooked. I wanted to speak to the manageress but she wasn't around. I mentioned it to a very nice waitress who was very apologetic and said she would change it. Over 10 minutes had passed and my wife had eaten her food so I cancelled mine and then found the manageress. She said she wished she'd known sooner (she would have if she'd been around). We never saw her again although the waitress was kind enough to apologise again and wish us a happy anniversary. The table next to us had to wait an age to get drinks and like us had to ask for cutlery for their desserts. A couple of waiters were walking around with their shirt tails hanging loosely out of the back of their trousers. If the owners read this - you have a great building and theme but unfortunately I have to agree with many other emails on your service - it's very poor and you will lose lots of valuable business as a result. I'd love this restaurant to be a regular of mine, but you appear to sacrificing good service in order to employ the cheapest staff available to minimise costs and it shows.

Went on the 28th November 2009 after reading about it on sugarvine. It is vast, & I know its supposed to be warehouse style, but please put in a ceiling as it feels like the car park next door. The food was great (pizza) but we didn't see much of the staff.

My Husband and I went to this restaurant last night, we waited 3/4 of an hour for our main courses, Veal Milianaise and Milly's Meatballs. The Manager spent the whole of our visit chatting to groups of 4 or more, and although passed our table several times never once asked if everything was fine. Only once during the 3/4 of an hour wait did a waitress come to the table and this was to say the food would be another 2 minutes. The food when it came was bland and tasteless. When we were paying the bill the waitress said they were busy because of a concert on at Liverpool Arena and that was why other people had been served before us. This is not an excuse how did they know we were not going as well, it seemed you only got served promptly if you complained. I would not recommend this restaurant.

went for my friends 30th birthday and she was really upset she'd chose there - so hot that we had to leave as soon as we'd eaten - what is going on with the heat in there - i'm thinking of reporting them to environmental health it's disgusting, everyone around us was fanning themselves, even the waiters. Food was horrid as well, atmosphere ruined by the heat and people around us complaining (rightly so) every five minutes - one of the most unpleasant evenings i've ever had. Please send these comments to the restaurant - i know i'm not the only one whose complained about the heat in there but maybe a few more complaints might force them to do something about it!!!!!!!!

We visited Zelig's at lunchtime for the 1st time, and my wife and I had an excellent meal. My wife - not easily pleased- said the lasagne della casa was the best she had ever tasted! and I had an excellent pasta dish. The food was absolutely 1st class. Our waiter was very attentive and the Manager - who was very professional and charming - made a point of checking that everything was OK. He invited us to look around to make sure that we were aware of what was on offer in terms of cabaret meals etc. at different times. Thoroughly recommended!

the best restaurant around! meal for two on a Saturday night 7.30pm the place was near fully booked already! so book in advance is my warning! we booked 2 months in advance as i know how busy the place gets...why..cuz its fantastic! lovely jazz vocalist on which was replaced by a jazz band on the stage part, luckily the music isn't too loud either so don't worry if you are sitting near the band. food is delish! i recommend prawns on bruschetta to start. prices are reasonable too, we had 2 courses, side orders, couple of drinks for £60. well worth it. staff where great and always around if needed. really cant recommend this place enough, and the surroundings inside..decor etc....fantastic. go see for yourself!

THIS IS ONE OF THE WORST RESTAURANT I EVER BEEN IN MY LIFE I WENT THERE WITH SOME FRIENDS LAST SATURDAY NIGHT AND THE PLACE IS HORRIBLY WARM AND DARK, THE FOOD IS NOT ITALIAN AT ALL AND THE PRODUCTS THEY ARE USING ARE VERY CHEAP.THE MANAGERS ARE NOT VERY ATTENTIVE WITH THE CUSTOMERS, TO ME SEEMS LIKE THAT THEIR ATTENTION IS MORE TOWARDS THE BAR AND IGNORE THE RESTAURANT COMPLETELY. NO ONE OF THEM, I THINK HAS EVER WORKED IN A FINE DINING RESTAURANT. I RECOMMEND THE OWNERS TO SPEND SOME MONEY TO GET THE PLACE FRESHER, TO FIND A PROPER RESTAURANT MANAGER AND PROPER ITALIAN CHEFS. ALSO THE STAFF LOOKED LIKE LOST WITHOUT ANY GUIDE OR HELP, BECAUSE FOR WHAT I COULD SEE THAT NIGHT THE MANAGERS WERE NEVER AROUND. ONE OF THE WAITER TOLD ME THAT THE AIR CONDITIONING WAS BROKEN, BUT I DID NOT SEE ANYTHING IN THE RESTAURANT THAT TOLD ME THEY HAD ANY, WHEN I ASKED ONE OF THE MANAGERS I WAS TOLD THAT THE OWNER DID NOT WANT TO SPEND ANY MONEY FOR IT; I BELIEVED THE SECOND ANSWER.

I was in zelig's last Wednesday night and me and my friends had a lovely night. The staff was very attentive and the manager (mr Zelig's look alike), he ran the place like if was is own. Very professional and charming, he was around every table to make sure that everything was ok. Only one complaint to make: the heat. It was unbelievable and impossible to stay a t the table for to long. The place is nice, but i hope the owner will think about to spend some money for the air-con, otherwise this place will loose a lot of customers.
