under NEW management in spring 2008 and superb. Made our first visit in May with friends and though the food and service superb. Excellent value. Will definitely return.

Giffnock Ivy The – GlasgowThe Battlefield Rest is a firm favourite in our family. The food is always delicious and the staff are efficient and friendly. The restaurant has a very continental atmosphere. Advance booking is always required at weekends proving it's popularity
Battlefield Rest – GlasgowThe staff were really friendly, and the atmosphere is old but very cosy and familiar. The mezedes served as a starter were really nice. For the main course we had the Afelia and Pastichio. The afelia pork was dry and had a very distinct and unattractive flavour to it. The pastichio I ‘m afraid to say is one of the worst I have ever tried. Maybe it’s how they make it in Cyprus (although I doubt it). As I am Greek myself, it’s difficult to understand how someone can go wrong with simple, good old Greek food. Not good value for money. I will not be going back.
Greek Golden Kebab – GlasgowA taste of the high life at a price for everyone! We were so pleasantly surprised at the whole experience when we went for lunch here. After seeing Tom on Great British Menu, i was intrigued... and was not disappointed at all. The staff, decor, menu and not forgetting the food was superb. It was wonderful watching the staff busy away in the kitchen and seeing that Tom was there made you feel that you were just as important as the next person and that everyone was getting the best he and his team could produce. Have mentioned it to all my family... we will definitely go again!
The Kitchin – Edinburghgood delicious
Jasmin One – GlasgowMy wife and i had a wonderful time there, its a great location and the food is superb especially the desserts. Its almost like a home away from home and Geoff and Kate are so friendly and welcoming.
Katies Diner – EdinburghDont go there! Dreadful place. On arrival there were no locals despite the palce being busy, it was all tourists. The meal took two and ahalf hours! Not because we enjoyed it but becasue the service was so slow. The food was appalling. The literature states that Norman makes all the special sauces to his own recipe. I told the manager that I hoped Macdonalds did not sue him for perjury. A Complete waste of an afternoon
Maxies Bistro – EdinburghI took my partner to Snooks for his birthday on Wednesday after reading the reviews and I was very disappointed. My partners steak arrived on a plate with a single sprig of parsley for garnish (poor presentation) I was surprised to taste the veg and realise it was frozen and not fresh. I think for what you pay you expect fresh vegetables at least. Went into Lidl afterwards who confirmed that Snooks get their frozen vegetables from their store. Staff were pleasant enough. Wouldn't go back nor recommend it. We were not offered the unopened baked potatoes away with us and left £60 lighter but still hungry.
SJ @ Snooks – GlasgowHaving worked in Edinburgh for the last 15 months it's hard to imagine how any restaurant in the city can survive when it produces such appalling food and with service to match. Periodically I revisit in the hope that things may have changed, however as evidenced by tonights meal my dish must have previously coughed up fur balls and purred - it was like a whiskas jalfrezi.... horrendous and £28 to boot. hungry ? avoid this place at all costs...go hungry...eat out a wheelie bin, it won't be worse!
Bay Of Bengal – EdinburghMy party of 14 arrived at this restaurant and on first impressions were taken by the interior of the building which looked great. Unfortunately the rest of the night was more like a nightmare. Food as just awful and I would go so far as to say disgraceful. The food was not cheap but we would have happily paid the higher rates given the location had the food been edible. Lasagne was completely burned to a crisp- charcoal on top and it was the manager of the restaurant who actually served it to one of my party!!! When a substitute was provided it was bland and presented with tin foil round the edge of it...more like a bad ready made meal for one! This Italian couldnt even get the pizza right. Base was extremely dry and actually split in half it was so over cooked. There was no sauce on the goats cheese pizza only crumbled cheese and lots of rocket- just terrible. When only 3 out of our 14 could stomach eating their dinner I complained to the waiter and asked to speak to the manager. The very nice waiter had to ask the manager 3 times to please come and deal with us, as she kept ignoring us and walking past the table. After a 15 minute wait she came over and I explained our disappointment. She shrugged, made no excuse and went to see the owner. When she returned she explained that was the way food was served here (I did question the fact that she served the lasagne completely burned- was this normal?) but she agreed to discount our meal in the end. I left the restaurant completely starving and very disappointed
Centotre – EdinburghThe restaurant in Clydebank was such Bad service i would never go back and never recommend anyone to eat there, i waited 40 mins for my lunch and i was late back to work so i had to leave my food and still had to pay for it
Frankie and Bennys – GlasgowI recently ate here with a group of 8 (mixed ages), there was something for everyone on the fixed price menu. Particularly enjoyed the Mexican Chicken which was on the Special's Board! Lovely creamy sauce, not too spicy. Waitress very pleasant and Manager approached us to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. Very well looked after here. Had the Banana & Toffee Cheesecake which was tasty and well presented. Set-menu good value for money. I have already booked my next meal!
Mailcoach – GlasgowThis is the best chinese buffet in Glasgow. It has a wide range of main meal dishes and plenty of seafood. The desserts aren't as impressive but all in all its good food at a good price.
Kings Lodge – GlasgowWhen I visit Glasgow from Los Angeles I always make Buongiorno a must stop, simply a very pleasant experience. Great food and unusually good service for a Glasgow restaurant. My kids love the place and talk about 'that pasta we had in Glasgow' all the time. Buongiorno thank you.
Buongiorno – GlasgowCaprice is a small Italian pizzeria which sells the most gorgeous freshly wood fired oven-baked pizza I’ve had in a while, its prepared right fresh in front of you. Does takeaway and sitting in the small, dimly lit restaurant is a good experience. Very busy so advise to reserve ahead of time. portions are huge and very tasty!!! Good value for money and an old favourite with the locals. ;-)))
Caprice – EdinburghWe visited Stravaigan in Gibson Street yesterday to have a drink and with the intention of having lunch. The place was bustling, good atmosphere. However noticed three large dogs being brought in by owners. One couple then sat down at a table for two, they each had a poodle on their knees which placed the dogs at table height. There was food being served all around. I could hear other people commenting on the presence of the dogs. I questioned the waitress but was told "the manageress likes dogs". We decided to eat lunch elsewhere.
Stravaigin – Glasgowi would just like to say, its the best meal i have ever had! thank you balbir, cant wait to come back!
Balbirs Restaurant – Glasgownice place. been to friendlier tho. some of the girls were very nice, but some of them had sour faces and were bitching about another member of staff while i was there, the food was ok. the best thing about the place was the fish tank table
