Jasmine – EdinburghBy far the best Indian Buffet I have ever been to. An absolute must!
India Palms – GlasgowAte at the new Edinburgh branch recently. Well... I guess this is what Scottish might think Tapas or Spanish cooking is. More accurately (and depressingly) it is what Scottish people want in a restaurant ie lots of very heavy, deep fried, greasy and gloopy versions of Tapas. The service was very good, the restaurant is bright cheery and new, but sadly the food is dreadful. Went with a Spanish person who begged me to leave, but we were hungry so stayed. A shame really as fresh, authentic simple Tapas are easy to produce and delicious. (perfect example is Barrafina in London) Upon asking the (French) waiter, he confirmed that there was not a Spanish person anywhere to be seen in the kitchen. Can we not raise our expectations and standards a little in this country when it comes to food ?
Cafe Andaluz – Glasgowexcellent food, service and 100% recommended!!! Go it is GREAT!!!!
Delhi Darbar – GlasgowThe food has gone downhill something terrible.
Classic India – GlasgowThe Salmon!
Balbirs Restaurant – GlasgowMy favourite Italian in Edinburgh but a great shame that the Polish chefs cannot manage Zabaglioni!
Vittoria Restaurant – EdinburghThe decor is relaxed, intimate and welcoming. The staff are extremely pleasant, attentive and patient. More so, the food is extremely good. It is clean tasting, delicious and leaves you wishing it could start all over again. If you haven't been, you must go, if you have been already, you must go back! See you there!
Thai Lemon Grass Restaurant – GlasgowHad lunch recently in cafe rogano- the food was overpriced and very disappointing. would not return
Rogano – Glasgowbalbir, you are the man! ... thanks to this guy i have discovered the true meaning of wine and dine. he choose our food and told us exactly what wine to have with it.... well sir you know your stuff, spot on!
Balbirs Restaurant – GlasgowThe kind of Italian that you find away from the tourist trail in Italy. Unlike its big name rivals in town, La Piazza smacks of authenticity and gives you a traditionally italian dining experience. Superb quality food, unobtrusive but efficient service and value for money makes this one of the best restaurants in the city. A must for those looking for a real Italian.
La Piazza – EdinburghLast weekend me and a good friend of mine dressed in our best attire which included the finest silk scarfs hand crafted by poor gyspys given as a gift from the Prince Jumbaliya of Indonesia, hand picked jewelled slippers, and, to round our outfits off, a beautiful orange bindi placed on our unique monobrow. We entered the restaurant with grace and elegance, hoping to draw lots of attention, we were shocked by the waitresses lack of compliments but decided to let it fall. As we stepped onto the tables to proceed our cultural/religious pre-meal jig, we were rudely interrupted, and appalled to be asked to refrain from doing so. Being a strong believer of pre-meal bop, we continued for a few minutes, then, when asked politely to leave, which shocked us to the brim of our fine silk covered bodies. We think that your staff of The Kitchin are extremely rude and unprofessional and very prejudice and discriminative.
The Kitchin – EdinburghMy Wife and I went to "the Kitchin" on saturday evening, we hadn't booked, but there had been a table that hadn't turned up, so they managed to get us in. Nice welcome, pleasant if a little monotone decor and good initial impression. The canapes were a nice touch as was the pea and mint soup. I had ordered Scallops with chorizo (which was great) and because the chorizo had arrived after the dish, they sent us portions of foie gras, with no charge! The main courses of Lamb and Lobster were excellent. We went on to order a dessert and glass of dessert wine, at this point my daughter and her friend arrived at the reception, my daughter asked if she could check if her parents were there, they allowed my daughter in and after she had seen us returned with her friend , as they approached the table a waiter pulled up two chairs, and then retracted them, apparently after a gesture from the head waiter. The girls left to wait outside, and my wife and I, being a little embarrassed followed, paid the bill and left. A slightly embarrasing end to a lovely meal.
The Kitchin – Edinburgh" i went to the restaurant with my husband and my daughter and another friend of mine. we just came back from holiday that evening and hoping something pleasant for us. so we went to this thai orchid. me, myself is very common with thai restaurant around glasgow. and for me, they're very good. but to my surprise, after waited for 5-10min to be seated, the manager (probably, from his acted) came to me and said; you probably want to go somewhere else because we're very busy!. there's a table that full of people just looked at me and my family because the manager's voice was loud. i don't know what his problem, and rather than having a wasted time arguing, we just went out from the restaurant. yes, i can see they're busy. but there's lots of still empty table to be seated. and though, there's no 'sorry' word came out from his mouth. just feel sad for them. they're losing their customer if they keep behaving in this manner."
