The Old Tramshed – ShipleyThis restaurant is a fantastic venue to dine at, Located just next to the Shipley train station, easily accessed if your coming from Leeds, Bradford and surrounding areas. It is a ideal venue if you are having a special occasion. We as a family have dined here on many occasions such as, Birthdays, anniversary parties, office parties and family get together. The place has been awarded the "BEST RESTAURANT IN BRADFORD" for the past 2 running years. Serving the finest Asian cuisine in the perfect setting, where you can also take your own alcohol(no corkage charged), It saves alot of your bill, Just give this restaurant a try, VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Shimla Spice – ShipleyI was recommended this restaurant by a friend and am now wondering what I did to upset them to deserve this! Quite possibly the worst meal I have ever had. Arrived at 1.05 p.m (to a not very busy restaurant) and ordered our food and drinks at 1.15 p.m. No drinks arrived by 1.30 p.m. so we asked the waitress if they had been ordered. Several seconds of blank stares later she wandered off. 10 minutes later and still no drinks so I went to the very empty bar area to order them again and get them myself. Finally at 1.50 p.m. the starters arrived. Clap cold and not even as described on the menu. A hint to the chef if you are reading this...Cajun Spiced Chicken usually has Cajun Spices on it! We made our feelings about the starters known to the waitress and rather stupidly and against better judgement waited for the main courses. At 2.20 p.m. and still no main course we found the manager and complained and were promised they were on their way. Well they must have been getting sent their on the tram as it took a further 15 minutes to arrive. Perhaps the wait would be worthwhile...not a chance in hell! We both ordered the same and below is the results: "Ribeye" Steak requested to be medium cooked: If what we received was "Ribeye" steak I will quite glady bare my ar*e in Leeds City Centre. More like a minute steak from the nearest cut price supermarket. It was cooked way past any life it may have had left in it. On a plus note my wifes boots are in need of new soles and this may just fit the bill. "Garlic Mushroom Sauce" - no sauce to be seen. Just some button mushrooms with a quite vile tasting garlic residue drizzled over. Also it must be noted that again the main course was clap cold and did not arrived with the mushrooms, onion rings or tomato that were shown on the menu. We did not even attempt to eat the mains and instead informed the manager of our total dissatisfaction and informed him that we shall not be paying and left with still hungry stomachs. Needless to say we shall not be going back!
The Old Tramshed – ShipleyTravelled from Manchester with my wife to tapas tree in shipley and according to my wife: time spent going to shipley was well worth it.Very pleased. Will do it again very soon.
The Tapas Tree – ShipleyThis is a good restaurant and caters for every ones needs and they give good service and have quality standard of food for a reasonable price.
Adaab Balti Restaurant – ShipleyWe've been to this restaurant three times now, and although the food has been exceptional every time, we simply can't justify going back any more. Why? Very simple really. Each time we have been to La Rue we have received unbelievably slow service. You can forgive this on the occasional visit but not every time! The waitresses rush around with their eyes on the floor or ceiling to avoid your attempts to make eye contact. Simply not good enough. Great food though.
La Rue Restaurant – ShipleyI'm sorry, but I have to say that this is one of the worst meals at this kind of price I have eaten in a long time. We decided to try La Rue again after some years where previously we had not enjoyed it on more than one occasion. "It's changed", say people. Well, it hadn't! From the outset, the choice of pre-dinner drinks was abysmal and the poor waitresses had no idea about anything other than, "there's beer" pointing to the lager and "... erm ... some shots". Great! I'll have a German Pils, which clearly tasted of maize and so could not be a German Pils. Oh well ... let's hope the food is better. What a bizarre menu! I'm all for adventurous, but taking a classic combination and sticking a polar opposite from out in left field just because, well it just doesn't work. That went on through the starters to the mains. Scrabbling for something that I could eat, I opted for a Kofta starter with some out of the bottle chilli sauce and a tzatziki without the ziki! My wife had a smoked salmon and pea tart, which turned to the be pureed, rather missing the point of beautiful flakes of smoked salmon and rather tasted of baby food! Oh, the Kofta was on a torilla! What? Yes, I know ... The mains faired no better. I had lamb shank in a roasted mediterranean vegetable jus with garlic potatoes. Gorgeous, except for the flavour which jarred between the roasted vegetable jus and the creamy garlic potatoe gratin. Nooooo ... crushed garlic potatoes. Did I say, classic combinations with a left field entry? My wife has a piece of salmon, which could have been good if it had been cooked in butter to bring out the sumptuous flavour of the salmon, but it was served with an utterly tasteless rositto. Tasteless? Yes, clearly no use of a good stock made from left over bones, most likely water, salt and perhaps a splash of wine. Even lemon juice would have lifted it a little. Puddings. How can they mess this up? Well, I was so fed up by this point, I asked for a mix and match so as to avoid the bizarre combinations and opted for a custard tart with some vanilla ice cream. Finally, I'd found something on the menu that worked, yet I'd had to put it together. I forget what my wife had, but she left it. How disappointing. I got a decent grappa to take the taste away and my wife had a coffee, which they'd manage to burn. Oh well, we won't be going there again. Sounding most pompous, I should suggest that the chef find a culinary primer course in classic combinations and stick to it - the basic are good, but when put together simply do not work. I can't even give the place 1/10 - there were no saving graces. I simply cannot recommend this to anyone.
La Rue Restaurant – ShipleyI visited this restaurant on 25 July 2009. My wife and i were totally ignored by the staff at the bar for 15 mins. As we had booked a table we decided to try the restaurant upstairs, when we got there, they didn't have our booking. We had to ask for drinks 3 times and the bill twice. I am Indian by origin maybe this had something this had something to do wih the diabolical level of service provided.
The Old Tramshed – Shipleyi do not recommend this restaurant if 1- you are a vegetarian 2- if you have kids 3- if you wanting a meal within 2 hours our meal was appalling we had to wait over 2 hours for our mains, 6 people,no kids menu and vegetarians you can have fish fish or quiche that's the choice,i wouldn't recommend this restaurant worst i have been to the excuse we got we are very busy, with a total of 6 tables outside to me thats not busy
The Old Tramshed – ShipleyI certainly would recommend this venue to anyone! Its a star in west Yorkshire's crown. Recently under new award winning management some noted changes have occur ed, food quality had got far better, food served all day. The bands are back on a Monday and there is a varied amount of cask ale on the bar. Better than the previous owners!
The Old Tramshed – ShipleyWe have eaten here a few times in the past and noticed the signs advertising new management and new menus and thought we would give it a try again. Past experiences hadn't been great. What a surprise to see massive differences, the staff were very attentive and the atmosphere was amazing. We decided to have one of their platters to share as a starter, wow wow wow, we had the Teriyaki beef with, mixed seafood, sweet potato chips and spicy chicken wings, with extra bread and oil. My wife opted for the locally sourced Ellison's sausage and mash and I had the homemade steak and ale pie, the portions were generous but it was so good we took desserts as well, all washed down with a lovely bottle of red from their new wine list. Now whoever is driving this tram shed at the moment really knows what they are doing. Food - Amazing, Staff - Amazing, Atmosphere - Amazing, Wines - Amazing, PLATTERS - OUT OF THIS WORLD. I will be back and back and back. Its so good to get fresh healthy unfried food all prepared on site.
The Old Tramshed – ShipleyHidden away behind the indoor market, Interlude Tea Room brings an ambience and quality not often found in today's busy times. Great food, all made and baked on the premises (including their ownbread), wonderful service and a chance to chill out before returning to the 21st century.
Interlude Tea Room – ShipleyI wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. When we first arrived we were stood in the entrance for at least 20 minutes without a greeting. We were then taken to our table and left for another 20 minutes without a drink - at which point I went to the bar and bought a round. The menu is boring - all typical run of the mill 'Italian' food with no real creativity. I had a steak, and this was the highlight as it was cooked beautifully, however it was drowned in a peppercorn sauce that was overpowering and had a skin on it like it had been sat under the kitchen lights for too long (I also wondered if it came out of a packet?). The steak was served with a dish of vegetables, but because we were unaware of this we also ordered potatoes. It was far too much and therefore a huge waste. The service was appalling - no enquiry was made into whether we had enjoyed our meals, and the lady that took our order (who I presume is the owner) was smug to the point of being rude. It took forever to get another drink, and even then I asked a waiter who then had to go and get a waitress. The waitresses seemed to have very little to do yet we could never get hold of one! I really wanted to complain at the end, but as with the rest of the meal there was nobody about to speak to and so we got fed up of waiting and left our money on the table. It was such a disappointment.
Da Tonini – Shipleywonderful food, i had an incredible salad nicoise, and salts burger. A great atmosphere and a nice menu
Salts Diner – ShipleyFirst Class. With such a varied menu it is always difficult to choose though, my favourites which I can highly recommend are the Crab Tart starter followed by the Duo of Duck. The food here is excellent, fresh, tender, tasty and always looks good enough to eat! Nothing is too much trouble for the friendly and attentive staff which adds to the lovely atmosphere and ambience here. Excellent value for money is the icing on the cake. My favourite restaurant, my favourite night out.
La Rue Restaurant – ShipleyZaaras is a really fantastic place. The menu is really extensive and especially good for vegetarians. I have eaten there over 5 times now and have never been disappointed. The service is always excellent. and the food always delicious. I can particularly recommend the Makhani's both the chicken and the vegetarian.
Zaara’s – ShipleyI think la rue is one of the nicest , relaxed restaurants in the shipley area, with a nice warm host to greet you on entry. I think the problem with most restaurants these days is that no-one takes into consideration customers thoughts, views etc.The food is top notch, value for money, and the tastiest desserts going! I highly recommend la rue! All restaurants should take a leaf out of their book!
La Rue Restaurant – ShipleyAfter hearing a sea of compliments about zaaras restaurant me and my partner decided to take a visit. Brilliant food. Brilliant service. Brilliant experience. I could say no less than but what a stunning effort Harry has put into creating zaaras, the passion really shows his love for Indian cuisine. We will most certainly return! See you soon!
