Small portions of what was left off the limited (no stock) menu choice. Quite disappointing really.

Water Rat – IronbridgeVisited here on a Sunday afternoon (late Sunday lunch) and we had a lovely meal. We ordered the beef and pork Sunday roasts and the portions were HUGE! Plenty of meat, loads of nicely cooked veg, roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese. The only thing I’d criticise about the food, is that the roast potatoes were VERY hard on the outside. We did need the steak knives to cut through. On the inside they were lovely and fluffy but was scared of chipping a tooth! We sat outside and therefore had to pay at the bar up front, which is fine. Staff were lovely, but, it seems if you’re sat outside you are forgotten about slightly as in we weren’t offered to order any desserts or coffee etc. Even if we had to order and pay at the bar. Probably because we were sat outside but would be nice to have had that attention you’d expect whether inside or outside the pub! Overall good experience and will be returning.
The Swan At Ironbridge – TelfordHad a wonderful afternoon at the Malthouse, 5 diners, 4 had Sunday Road and 1 had a meal of the main menu, the food was excellent and staff very friendly, highly recommend visiting
The Malthouse – TelfordCannot fault this place. Amazing service, felt very well looked after and the food was amazing. I highly recommend The Bull. You’d be mad not to try it! Best food we’ve had out for ages! Definitely make this my local! I live in Longdon-on-Tern. Was just lovely !
The Bull – ShrewsburyOut for our sons and his girlfriends 18ths. Lovely round table to comfortably sit around. Shared some small plates (fab meatballs). Two perfect Sirloins, tasty tagliatelle and delicious duck. Really enjoyed the Australian Pinot Noir too plus a couple of sticky toffee puddings and espresso Martinis for dessert. Friendly service and lovely atmosphere too,
Water Rat – IronbridgeVery poor service and food not good. Ordered a steak cooked medium to well and when it came it was dry and burnt, would not recommend.
Water Rat – IronbridgeNice place friendly staff only one thing not much on the menu to choice from There was only one thing on the menu I liked but that was very nice what I had
The Smokey Cow – TelfordVisited on a Saturday night. Food and service all very good and the pub looks much nicer after the refurb. Will definitely visit again.
Water Rat – IronbridgeWell after having written a long email of complaint and them not even having the courtesy to acknowledge my email 2 weeks ago here goes: We booked a table for 2 for 8pm on a Thursday night whilst visiting Telford. The food was lovely and couldn't fault that at all but the front of house staff were appalling. Service wasn't great - forgot one of our drinks then brought the bottle of water without a glass. Didn't have wet wipes or a finger bowl for with the platter of meats. No offer of a dessert or coffee just the bill! They refused to call us a taxi saying they had no taxi numbers when we were having problems getting through to the one number we had, we finally got through and were told there would be a 30 - 45 minute wait. The waitress told us that we would have to leave way before then as they wanted to do the till and clean up (it was about 9.15pm by now) We asked if they were going to throw us out and she said yes!! My husband ordered one last drink so she rudely told him there was no ice as it was last orders. Tried to short change him from a £20 note arguing that he had only given her a ten! He asked her to open the till and there was his £20. No apologies! Whilst he was at the bar the other waitress was hoovering around the tables including the one we were sat at. Toilets were filthy - cobwebs on the walls. Surely in the middle of a world pandemic they should have been clean! Only used them as we didn't know how long we were going to be waiting outside. We promptly left at about 9.40pm as we couldn't stand the atmosphere any longer. No offer to wait for our taxi indoors so we stood outside. In our 40 odd years of eating out never ever have we encountered such rude staff and being made to feel so unwelcome anywhere. After advertising that they serve food until 9.30pm and opening until late then wanting to close so early. They should make their customers aware especially like ourselves having caught a taxi there and needing one to get back. We didn't know the area at all so found it all quite intimidating. I would imagine if you went there early you would probably think it was ok such a shame when the kitchen staff work so hard - one of which did apologise as we were leaving! So no we wouldn't recommend The Swan and neither will we ever revisit. I always thought when you are in hospitality you are supposed to encourage visitors to come and to be pleasant and helpful - costs nothing at all!! Very disappointing :( And luckily our taxi arrived at 9.50pm.
The Swan At Ironbridge – Telfordlovely meal,we all enjoyed the 'small dishes' but a bit cramped on the table as there where 5 of us ,15 small tureens not a lot of room !
Water Rat – IronbridgeExcellent service for the entire stay. Although busy, the service was very friendly and quick. Food really good too. In a time where staff shortages are common, these guys didn’t let it show. Top marks.
The Malthouse – TelfordWe had a nice family meal, food was good and the staff friendly and efficient.Havent been in this place for a good few years but would definitely be back for a second visit.
The Bull – ShrewsburyWe had a mid week dinner. I had the small plates and the dishes were lovely. However my husband was not too impressed with his ham, egg and chips. The prices seemed a little steep for the quality of the food. We are going out again on the weekend as it was a disappointing meal for his birthday.
Water Rat – IronbridgeGreat food and generous portions. Friendly and responsive service. Only wish would be there are more than 2 vegetarian main meals to choose from.
The Tilley Raven – ShrewsburyGood food, prompt and friendly service and nice atmosphere despite nearby chaos of road resurfacing of Ironbridge High Street.
The Malthouse – TelfordEnjoyed a lovely meal, our waitress was great very accommodating with a wonderful smile. Enjoyed the choices on the menu and great value for money. Will definitely go again
