The Smokey Cow – TelfordChristmas lunch was lovely but couldn't eat it all. We both had the turkey ,Hubby enjoyed it also. The starter wasn't for me I'm afraid I had the halloumi. Hubby had goats cheese and enjoyed it.for desert I found the cheese cake not to my liking as the presentation didn't wow me and looked very watery on the plate.no taste to the cheese cake and the strawberry's didn't look appertising ,Hubby had cheese and crackers, I wished the tables were a bit bigger. The table seemed very cramped
The Malthouse – TelfordHad Xmas Day lunch at the Tilley. Fantastic service and quality, all staff were extremely pleasant and food was served hot and timely. Would recommend to anyone to give it a try
The Tilley Raven – Shrewsbury£450 for Christmas Day. Meal. Starter was high light. Yorkshire pudding on a Christmas Dinner? Not enough gravy. Turkey was ok. As restaurant got busier service declined. Did not clear away main course. Had to wait an hour for pudding. No custard on Xmas pudding ? To afraid d to ask for more as felt like we were forgotten about. Overall experience was disappointing. Will not go there next year.
The Last Inn – NewportWe had a meal here with family friends who came from the Cotswolds. We were one of 3 tables in the whole pub. Before coming, we got a call to say that our pre ordered food wasn’t available- lamb and pork. None the less we ordered alternative meats. We walked in and the table wasn’t fully set. After about 15 minutes we had to ask to order some drinks. After waiting a while the food came out, before our drinks. We asked for our drinks and the bar lady came over and spilt all of them all over the floor. This was unfortunate but brushed it off. The roasts didn’t come with Yorkshire puddings although ordered, so we asked for them. The food was nice, abit small for the price and the food was unfortunately Luke warm. While this is happening the waitress drops a knife on a tiny baby in a pram. The mother is obviously so shocked as the poor baby had a cut on its head. The waitress doesn’t apologise and runs off while the other waitresses were a mere meter from the table and proceeded to look at the ground, avoiding the situation. Obviously the parents of the baby were completely shocked by this. That table then has to ask for cutlery and gravy for there food….. We were not asked once for more drinks or how our meal was. Once the plates were eventually taken we were asked ‘anything else?’… well maybe some desert ? After desert we were unfortunately waiting a while again for any drinks and eventually were able to ask the waitress’ for our bill once eyecontact stopped being avoided. Although the food was nice, the service was absolutely abismal. We really weren’t asking for lot just normal service. We all got the sense that we weren’t wanted there right from the beginning. It seemed as there was no clear management. Unfortunately won’t be coming again especially as we are Ironbridge locals.
The Malthouse – TelfordThe Swan is a perfect example of why eating out isn't worth the effort anymore. If you like waiting 2 hours for plates of grisly, salty meat then go ahead. Service is terrible. Not one apology for the long wait and no offers of compensation. It wouldn't be so bad if the food was reasonably priced but it's not. Save yourself the time and money and just go to the chip shop near the square instead.
The Swan At Ironbridge – TelfordWe had the 3 course Christmas fayre, it was fabulous, the carrot and orange soup really tasty. The turkey dinner was lovely and I had the Eton Mess which was also lovely. Can't fault any of it. The only thing that let it down was the lemonade which was completely flat .
The Malthouse – TelfordWe booked a table for 6 to have Sunday lunch after reading the reviews. Im so glad we did as the whole experience was simply perfect. The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout. Nothing was rushed and we didn't wait unnecessarily. Food, well divine. Pork was scrumptious Roast beef melted, homemade yorkies and veg cooked to perfection. All delicious and puddings didn't disappoint either. We cannot recommend enough and we book again when we revisit area in summer.
The White Hart – IronbridgeJust stayed nights at the lovely White Hart Inn. I ate one lunch, two breakfasts and two dinners. Staff were friendly and welcoming and all of the meals were delicious. I highly recommend the restaurant at the White Hart Inn.
The White Hart – IronbridgeSecond visit to the Queens head to have an early Christmas Lunch with my Uncle, mother in law and husband. Just as excellent as the first visit, atmosphere, food and staff all wonderful (difficult to single out staff, but a big thanks especially out the waitress with Christmas nails, gingerbread man earrings and a Santa hair scrunchie) all of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals and are looking forward to a return visit in 2025. Well done all at the Queens Head!
