The Swan At Ironbridge – TelfordNice venue in quiet countryside, parking was easy although the disabled spaces are not marked very clearly with the symbols being very worn, also on a bit of an incline but nothing too major. We didn’t stay too long after finishing our meal, for me it was too noisy, and I don’t know why that was, there were other people in the restaurant but not overcrowded, the chairs not very comfortable and not much in the soft furnishings department but adequate. The food was good without being amazing, a little on the expensive side, but again not amazing so, would I go back, no but that’s because it was to noisy which does bother me. I’ve given each section a 3 from 5 rating, if I’d gone with a bigger crowd that might have changed the score, but not the place if you want a quite meal, nobody’s fault really. In the summer months an outside table might have been better for me. Mart
The Smokey Cow – TelfordExcellent service as ever, catered for allergies in the group really well, food fab as usual. Temperature of the room was very warm though, just a small thing
The Bull – ShrewsburyBeautiful food, and service was great. Will definitely return.
The Bull – ShrewsburyWe had a very nice relaxing lunch with good food at a reasonable price for a riverside pub. Will definitely go back.
Water Rat – IronbridgeLovely table by the fire, food cooked fresh and food was lovely. Service from all staff were lovely and friendly. They were really accommodating
Water Rat – IronbridgeI do write this review through gritted teeth, reason being, this isn’t a great review, yet, the menu and food itself is excellent. Everything else is the issue. The friendliness of the staff was great, but, overall service, attentiveness to the table and time for the food to be served is disappointing. From seating to placing an order was fine, but, we must have waited 50 minutes for our meal. Once finished, we sat with empty plates for quite some time and actually wanted to order deserts but gave up in the end. After asking for the bill and again waiting some further 10-15 minutes I went to the bar to pay. For a booking on a Sunday afternoon where the restaurant was at about 50% capacity and lastly, considering the price range is mid-higher end, it was disappointing. If you are prepared to put up with this, for nice food, then go for it!
The Smokey Cow – TelfordSunday Lunch was lovely. Ample portions was served. The only negative our party had was the 10% service charge added to the bill. If we had not scrutinised the payment this would have been missed. It is optional and we did ask for this to be removed but being British a lot of people would find this embarrassing. We are not America and in our opinion we should not be subsidising salaries. We did leave a tip but one that was comfortable for our pocket. Maybe management need to have a rethink?
Water Rat – IronbridgeSunday lunch is delicious, excellent portion size. Full of freshly cooked vegetables. Asked for extra gravy and got it straight away. Serving staff really helpful and friendly. Would score 11/10 if I could. Good ambiance and great value for money. My dad's comment was best Sunday dinner out ever and he is nearly 80 years old. Thank you.
The White Hart – IronbridgeBooked a table for 7.15pm, didn't get the table until around 8 with no drinks in the meantime. There was an event on in the bar and it was obvious the restaurant were severely understaffed. I felt really bad for the poor staff running around like crazy. We ordered about 8.15 and food came around 9. By this point we weren't hungry anymore and left a lot of food. Food was amazing though, just wish I could of enjoyed at a reasonable time. Staff were nice and helpful but not the best experience.
The Malthouse – TelfordGreat evening - vegetarian carnivores and vegan all happy with the food - well done to the chef as some interesting and unusual combinations of food We will be back soon
The Bull – ShrewsburyLocation was perfect, nice building. Staff very friendly, but food was very average. Wouldn’t return for food, but would for a drink.
The White Hart – IronbridgeLovely food, great portion sizes. Very tasty and good selection of food options. Will come back!
The Bull – ShrewsburyThank you for a wonderful meal on 20/01/2023. The food was beautiful and well presented. Staff were all lovely and professional. We had a fab time and will return soon. Thank you :-)
The Malthouse – Telford2nd visit in 2 days. Still fab. Mushroom risotto was a bit gritty at times. Tasted like glass but suspect it was grit from mushrooms
The White Hart – IronbridgeStaff were terrific. Could clearly see a staff shortage, the manager explained about a 30 minute wait on food as they had just had a big table seated which we found fair as there was only 1 or 2 tables free. Food came after about 35 minutes and it was perfect. Beautiful beef and the veg was plentiful and cooked very nicely. Staff kept us topped up on drinks and we were well looked after. Will definitely return! Well worth a visit *****
