Meal out with friends in November 2022. Excellent food for all four of us and great service
The White Hart – IronbridgeGreat food, very tasty but let down by very slow service from the waiting staff despite the pub being very quiet.
Water Rat – IronbridgeGreat food, very tasty, but was sadly let down by very slow service despite being very quiet.
Water Rat – IronbridgeExcellent food all home cooked and served hot. Staff very friendly and welcoming nothing to much trouble, we enjoyed our visit.
The Malthouse – TelfordThis was a lunch time time in mid week(Friday). I had a standard Friday cid and chips which was excellent - and my wife had the fish pie which was also very good. It was ice cream and chocolate brownies for dessert - again very good. . The two members of staff were very friendly and welcoming although a little slow. . The bill for the two of us was £47 which I guess is pretty normal. However there were few customers and all of a ‘certain age’. I award only 2/5 and considered a zero for ‘atmosphere’ because for us the ‘musak’ was intrusive and distracting. I suspect that it was the staff choice and cared not for the customers. In a pleasant restaurant with wonderful views and surroundings such as this there was really no need for such a poor choice of music played at too high a volume. It rather spoiled our enjoyment and I will probably not return for this reason alone. Such a pity…
Water Rat – IronbridgeLovely cosy pub and restaurant. Staff attentive and food tasted good
Water Rat – IronbridgeFab place Meal was perfect Went for lunch Lovely friendly staff
Water Rat – IronbridgeWent for evening meal on a Tuesday night. We were greeted and looked after extremely well by the manager who was very friendly and chatty. We all had the pie of the day, which was chicken, ham and leek. It was very nice alongside lovely crispy chunky chips and well cooked aldente vegetables. I detest over cooked vegetables but these were just right! We shared a couple of puddings which was a nice end to the meal. The layout and decor of the pub is light and bright with a good feel to it. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and will definitely be returning. Thank you!
The Bull – ShrewsburyFriendly staff, food was very bad - reheated, very poor quality and expensive. We were hungry and normally I would have eaten food that wasn't great so as not to waste it but this was inedible and so we didn't eat our meal. We weren't charged for the food.
The Malthouse – TelfordBest Sunday roast I’ve ever had. Beautiful beef and everything else cooked to perfection. Good portion size too I was stuffed. 14 pounds for a beautiful roast I found a reasonable price for the quality and quantity. It is something for a treat now and again. Lovely staff too. Nice location in a little village you could go and have a nice walk before your meal ! Lovely pub (I think the bit we ate in was a converted barn?) with the beams showing that’s something I like. It was a bit echoey could be solved by putting some tapestries on the walls maybe (I am a bit hippy tho)
The Bull – ShrewsburyEnjoyable Sunday lunch. Pleasant, modern restaurant. Food was good quality and quantity was good. Two minor issues - firstly we asked where the meat came from, and whether is was from the butcher next door and the waiter said she didn't know (we heard nothing further), and secondly I asked to have broccoli instead of red cabbage and was told that wouldn't be possible because the chef prepares the food "by numbers" (no idea what that means). Still a place we would be happy to return to - but neither request should have been too difficult to fulfil.
The Butchers Kitchen – TelfordHi, we booked a table for 4 based on a number of friends recommendations. We arrived on time and were promptly given a menu each. Having chosen our starters and main course the waitress then presented us with another identical menu but this one had nearly all of our choices unavailable. We didn't stay for our meal as we were so disappointed with the now severely diminished choices. If we had been given the second menu at the beginning, we may have stayed but considering the poor start to the evening probably not.
The Tayleur Arms – TelfordExcellent food, excellent service, excellent backgrount misic. Thank you.
The Malthouse – TelfordFood was great drink offering good and live entertainment what more do you need
The Swan At Ironbridge – TelfordWe were welcomed into the cosy restaurant atmosphere and we looked forward to our evening. As we have enjoyed eating here before. Our drinks order was taken and they arrived promptly. Great start, unfortunately after 40 minutes waiting I got up and looked for a waitress and asked her if it was possible to order our food. She did apologise and took our order which we got about 20 mins later. 3 of us ordered the fish pie and one ordered the cottage pie. The portions were very small and were not big eaters, it was served with stem broccoli my husbands portion was just 5 stems! No florets! The fish was scarce and I had no prawns. It was poor. The cottage pie was tasty but more like a starter than a main course. The menus was quite limited and not very enticing. The water rats website seemed to show every menus except the regular one. Lunch, early bird, Christmas! Sorry not impressed.
Water Rat – IronbridgeSuper meal made even better by fabulous staff. My only criticism is the reliance on Gordon's Gin...there are sooo many excellent artisanal gins out there...Gordons is a lazy option. Thank you so much for a super evening.
The Bull – ShrewsburyAbsolutely wonderful experience here - 4 adults and an infant on Saturday afternoon. Special thanks to the chef that day for being so generous and understanding with our little boy and gave him some biscuits as well as offering to cook him extra things. We felt it was good value with some nice wines on the menu and we had an all round great experience - only knocked off a star because the food all lights had a mind of their own at times with the flickering. Overall we would definitely return!
The Smokey Cow – TelfordVery good food. Very good service. Good atmosphere. Very happy will go again.
