The Swan At Ironbridge – TelfordFirst meal there last night. Cannot fault the service, particularly lovely man on the bar. Unfortunately, the staff are let down by the average food and the cold lighting (although the air temperature was good). The belly pork starter was chewy and so was the short rib which was supposedly slow cooked for 8 hours. Perhaps it had dried out afterwards or not been fully submerged. It was also meant to come with leeks which were missing. And it was HUGE! Great if you have a big appetite but not if you were hoping for dessert! My partner enjoyed his Smokey cow burger however and the Brie wedges were delicious. Lovely place and lovely staff. Fine if you want some average pub grub but don’t expect fine dining.
The Smokey Cow – TelfordNice food nice staff good value and a decent choice. Advised that if we ordered the pie it would be around 20 minutes as made fresh to order which if you are aware is no problem at all and the pie was very good.
The Bull – ShrewsburyWe went on the recommendation of a friend and returned two days later, so we enjoyed our visit. We have now booked a Christmas meal with friends. The venue is cosy and atmospheric, the service friendly and informal and the food tasty.
Water Rat – IronbridgeMe and my friend shared a few starters / side plates each. The loaded fries were unreal and so were the chicken wings and chicken strips. I didn’t overly enjoy the Mac and cheese but I had more than enough food anyway. Staff were lovely and attentive and the place was busy but not over crowded which was perfect! We had a great time
The Swan At Ironbridge – TelfordWe have been to the Malthouse quite a few times and usually enjoy it however this time we went for Sunday roast and unfortunately it was very disappointing. We both had roast beef which was very thinly sliced, very chewy/tough and difficult to cut. The roast potatoes were also cold and parsnip barely roasted. Staff were pleasant.
The Malthouse – TelfordA GROUP OF 6 WE ALL HAD VERY GOOD MEALS BUT THE SIDES AT AN EXTRA COST WERE NOT WORTH ANY MONEY AT ALL.
The Bull – ShrewsburyFood was so tasty & good & everything was fine on our visit. Improvements which could be made with service - check everything ok after giving diners food & check for empty/emptying glasses for top ups.
Water Rat – IronbridgeOur second meal here in three months and it was, like the first, utterly joyful. The menu offers mainstream pub food if that's what you want but there is some serious cooking going on here, even on a bleak Tuesday evening in October. The disconcertingly youthful staff are efficient, attentive and friendly. A particular shout out to whoever put the wine list together - some real gems.
The White Hart – IronbridgeThis is one if our most favourite places to eat. Really reasonable prices, lovely staff, and very yummy food.
The White Hart – Ironbridgereally lovely Sunday lunch ........one tiny irritation they were running out of food, we were unable to have the lunches we wanted but what we had instead was excellent.....and sadly no pudding as they had sold out :-( that being said we would return again in a heartbeat...and a special mention for the staff who were absolutely lovely
Water Rat – IronbridgeI thoroughly enjoyed my meal on Sunday; topside of beef with all of the trimmings. I had been looking forward to this all week having eaten fish and chips here earlier in the week. Friendly service and it’s also dog friendly. I’ll be coming back to enjoy another meal soon.
Water Rat – IronbridgeVery slow service. After waiting 20 mins for someone to take our order has to go to the bar to order food for another 20 minute wait. Just everything was dealt with at a very slow pace and spending over 70 pound on a meal was just a bit disappointed with how slow things were
The Tayleur Arms – TelfordWe love our BBQ food and we ordered the Pit Master sharing platter. There was a lot of meat which was a good thing and most of it was cooked to perfection and delicious. Unfortunately the pork ribs where tough and chewy which would indicate not cooked for long enough low and slow.
The Smokey Cow – TelfordHad a fantastic night for Octoberfest. The food was absolutely amazing and the service was second to none. We had such a great time and couldn’t recommend it enough.
The Butchers Kitchen – TelfordCame 24th in the evening for a drink after an event in ironbridge. Ended up ordering food to be told they don’t except walk ins and it wasn’t really that busy and the guy at the bar was patronising and sarcastic which annoyed me instantly. So I sat down booked on line for 20 mins time which was easily available !!! Clearly not over run on bookings. Went back to the bar to order and they didn’t have certain things on the menu ( more like they couldn’t be arsed ) staff got faces like wet weekends. Bit disappointing. Also having worked in hospitality walk ins make extra money and being in a really good spot for that, kitchen should be fully stocked for that reason
The Swan At Ironbridge – TelfordExcellent food and hospitality. Would highly recommend it
The Butchers Kitchen – TelfordHaving noticed the pub when driving by we were caught by its appearance and signage. Once home we reviewed the extensive menu which looked superb with an offering for everyone in our party (9) so we made a reservation for a table for Sunday afternoon. We were greeted by a friendly waitress and showed to our table ordered drinks all going perfectly great start. We were provided with menus although we had already decided prior to what we wished to order and here is we’re it went dramatically downhill. Now we were provided a Sunday lunch menu on arrival to now be told we are sorry we have sold out of all Sunday lunches , slightly disappointed but no problems as the main menu contained more than enough options or so we thought , we were then told that three out of the five pies advertised were unavailable along with around half of the rest of the menu limiting our options further. So we placed our orders for what we could have and ordered some extras including the house salad and onion rings. At this point we are told of a thirty minute wait for food , not to worry we waited. Our order started to arrive which consisted of two orders of the full rack of ribs but we were first served two half racks we raised this with our server who informed us this was an error in the kitchen and we would be served this twice (the ribs though were of a very poor standard and burnt) the rest of the order followed which included the house salad which should be re named the grossly overpriced embarrassing to be served salad , it was pathetic to say the least. We informed the waitress that we were not prepared to pay £4.95 for it and could it be returned in her defence she removed it from the bill and left it with us. The “pie” is actually a slice of pie and the seasonal vegetables consisted of two carrots and a parsnip (they had also ran out of greens). We spoke to the manager and has a refund of 20% of the bill making the final bill come in at £198 including drinks which included a bottle of wine so we found this acceptable. A real shame as the menu and venue is very good but the food or lack of it is a real shame and we personally wouldn’t visit again.
