The Tilley Raven – ShrewsburyHaving recently moved to Shropshire, this was our first visit to the Smokey Cow. Lovely Shropshire village location and cool contemporary look & feel to the pub. Service was okay and food was tasty & reasonably priced. However, my partner has Coeliac Disease and is therefore allergic to gluten. Fortunately, in this day and age, most progressive pubs have a GF menu or clearly marked GF options on their menus. Sadly, the Smokey Cow has yet to catch up and when requesting the GF menu, after a 5 minute search for it, we were handed the dreaded ‘allergens folder’ which is frankly a horrible experience for any diner. It is much nicer to be advised what you can have rather than given a list of what you can’t have which in this case was most things on the menu. On a more positive note, after requesting that the waitress ask the chef if they could adapt any meal a GF option was provided and the food was delicious. My advice to “Craft & Jam” is to consider the customer experience of being handed the allergen folder and move with the times like so many others. Brunning & Price is a great example. Sadly, we won’t be back.
The Smokey Cow – TelfordGreat food and lovely personal service, would definitely recommend .
The Tilley Raven – ShrewsburyWent for the mother in law’s birthday last time we went was 4 years ago for my wife’s birthday and it was terrible. Heard of some good reviews so decided to try it again. Couldn’t fault the staff, ordered steak and all it came with was steak, chips, 1 mushroom with small amount of greenery, this was the same for the for all the other 4 meals really could have done with veg or salad, slightly pricey for what you got, the food however was nice. I ordered the black pudding, bacon chips to go with my burger this was an additional £3.50, stand alone price £6, definitely wasn’t worth the additional cost should have just had the chips that came with the burger. Would go back.
The Bull – ShrewsburyWonderful dinner and dog friendly too. Great find. Thank you for a lovely evening.
The White Hart – IronbridgeFood was ok service was terrible not because of any attitude but poor girl was on her own. Room was freezing
The Smokey Cow – TelfordWe haven’t been to the Tilley Raven for a long time and we’re delighted when we heard it had reopened! We were also pleasantly surprised! We had booked as a meet up with family and thought we would give it a go…we will definitely be back. The food was delish and extremely reasonable- price wise. The service was equally as good, the lovely lady was so friendly and accommodating. She didn’t rush us or seem stressed considering it looked to be only her on service and it was busy. She was a big part of our lovely experience. Also, the decor, so gorgeous! Comfortable, warm and rustic. But also clean! We will see you again soon! Thank you for such a lovely experience!
The Tilley Raven – ShrewsburyFantastic Sunday lunch. Everyone’s plates were clean. Polite friendly service. Will definitely have a return visit
The Tilley Raven – ShrewsburyThe Swan is special to me and my, now fiancé, as we dined there for our first date, have had dinner and drinks with friends here and it’s where I proposed to my fiancé as well! Our latest outing took place on New Years Eve where we were cashing in our voucher. The staff, as always, were friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great
The Swan At Ironbridge – TelfordThis is our local but don't use it that much as we have always had a long wait for food. Decided to try it again as it was New years eve as a treat and to try it again. Service was a lot quicker yay! Unfortunately my meal was tasty but not hot, meal disappointing for the price, staff unsure of the menu and missed the ice cream off our puddings. Really disappointed as this is in walking distance but as before we won't be rushing back.
The Bull – ShrewsburyAmazing place to stay, staff so helpful and friendly food lush!! We shall be back thank you !!
The Malthouse – TelfordStaff very attentive; nice atmosphere. Food disappointing: ordered hunters chicken which was dry and had some grissle in the chicken; was disappointed that this came only with salad( few leaves and onions)and chips; coleslaw or another side would have been nice/ preferable to the salad. Husband had the mixed grill: this was dry and meat quality was not great. We have visited on numerous occasions previously; however both left disappointed on this visit.
The Bull – ShrewsburyLovely food very good service varied menu
The Malthouse – TelfordOur first visit to this lovely 'village' located eating house which we fully enjoyed. Our table for eight was celebrating a birthday. All the meals were excellent which was served on hot plates nicely served by the staff. Our supplied birthday cake came on time lite with candles and a verse of happy birthday was start by the staff. I don't think the staff could have been more helpful well done all Thanks Smokey Cow,
The Smokey Cow – TelfordTable of four on Boxing Day - took my mum out for lunch. Covid safe environment, well prepared food and excellent, friendly service. Very agreeable experience. Thank you for being there on a Christmas Bank Holiday. Food would have got a five but the menu had become limited - the steaks had been very popular and were no longer being offered - didn’t matter in the end though.
The Tilley Raven – ShrewsburyAways look forward to going to the Swan great food and a relaxing atmosphere
The Swan At Ironbridge – TelfordChristmas meal on Christmas Day. All in all a very nice visit, food was tasty and well presented, slightly big meal for the oap next time maybe better with a child’s meal if possible. Christmas pudding light on the brandy sauce but more easily supplied when requested. Overall very nice would go back and would recommend :)
