Boars Head – SkiptonHello, great time till breakfast, did not expect to find 2 dogs in restaurant , being allergic to animal fur I had an allergic reaction during my meal which forced me to leave early. Sadly, only because of this, I won't be going back again.
Boars Head – SkiptonMy wife and I stopped there for a bar meal on Saturday 3/8/13 and were very pleased with the range of beers available even though i could only have one as i was driving. The staff were very friendly and helpful and they combined the Mushroom stronganof and a steak for me. The steak was very tender and the best steak I have ever had, my wife had the small fish and chips and said it was the best fish she had ever had. To just find this place by chance, we were so lucky and will definitely be back.
Boars Head – SkiptonPub is ok but have a friend who isnt aloud in for reason I cant go into but the person that caused the trouble can still go in so I and my family and friends will no longer be going in for this reason the person in question is a so called builder and im sure most people round long preston know who im talking about
Boars Head – SkiptonJust consistently marvellous- thank you. And thank you for the chat about Shetland versus Yorkshire weather this evening. Very funny..
Westmoreland Fisheries – SkiptonMyself, my wife and our little boy (4 years old) have, this evening, had a fantastic experience at the Boars Head (1st time visit). We had completed the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail, and were very tired as my wife had sustained a leg injury, and this was also the longest trail that our little boy had undertaken. On our way back towards the Ribble Valley, we decided to try the Boars Head. I nipped in to have a quick look at the menu, and was pleasantly surprised that the Sunday roast menu was available, even though it was a Bank Holiday, (particularly as my little boy loves his Yorkshire puds). We enjoyed a truly delicious meal. We often try different carveries and this was great. The pork crackling was fantastic and the vegetables were cooked really well, not over cooked as they often are at other pubs. The desserts were delicious, in particular the apple crumble - large pieces of apple, generous amounts of 'crumble' with just a hint of cinnamon - fab! The experience was topped off by the level of service. The young lady who served us both at the bar, and who served our meals (we never caught her name) was brilliant, nothing was too much trouble; really friendly. Will definitely be returning, probably often. Would most highly recommend this pub/restaurant to others!!!
Boars Head – Skiptonfriendly efficient staff. Relaxed atmosphere, delicious good quality food. Clean and get a good welcome.
Abbots Harbour – SkiptonVisited 3rd march 2013, four of us enjoyed a varied selection of main courses, Roast Beef, Steak Pie, Scampi, all good, good guest ales, Youngs, Moorhouses, etc. Would highly recommend, the tragedy is, the management are retiring, hope whoever comes in is as good.
The Maypole – SkiptonNipped in to browse the goodies and decided to stay for lunch. (was on holiday in Yorkshire) wonderful home made soup and coffee cake for pud was to die for ...and very generous portions. Excellent value for money. Pity I don't live nearer (200 miles away) can thoroughly recommend
Taste – SkiptonVisited 21/9/2012 good country pub, always a good selection of beers, Wainwright , Bombardier, Black Sheep, etc. Good atmosphere, very busy Friday nights, fish and chips good, as is the gammon, prices OK, would recommend.
Elm Tree Inn – SkiptonWe spent an enjoyable few days on and off over a week in the middle of August. The rooms were fine - nice and big - and the baths - big. The breakfast was brilliant - as was all of the food we ate. The price and quality / quantity was great value for money and Craig the chef was excellent. The service was quick even at busy times. Derek and all the rest of his staff were so friendly and socialble - as were the locals - even when we won the play your cards right jackpot!!! We wish we had found this little gem years ago. We will have no problem to return and spend more time at thew Boars Head. We wishh Derek and all his staff the best. The Osbornes (Somerset) and the Griffiths ( Herefordshire)
Boars Head – SkiptonI visited the black bull as I was working in Skipton I did not have any food as I was threatened and assaulted by one of the regulars for winning some money from the gambling machine they had in the bar and was offered no help from the bar staff but to be accused of being unlawful in my actions and told by a bar member who was announced across the bar he was studying law that I should go and get a education and read a law book being a north east business man I will no longer be bringing my business to Skipton I see this ad a great disappointment as I always believe it to be a welcoming place
Black Horse Hotel – SkiptonDreadful ! The battered fish was burned, the chips were sparse - i got seven chips on my meal of ham egg and chips. The chicken was tough, the panini was cold . None of the food was warm enough and the portion sizes were a joke. 11 of us had a meal there and only 1 was happy. Mass produced rubbish with no thought. We all ordered together and some meals came ten minutes after I had finished mine ! The real sting in the tail was that it's two meals for a tenner everyday except Saturday . We resented paying full price for rubbish that was sub standard and inadequate.
Black Horse Hotel – SkiptonRecently on a visit to North Yorkshire we called into the Boars Head for something to eat and drink. The food was excellent. It was quality and tasty home cooked food. Compliments to the chef. The Proprietor Derek who served us our food and drinks was most helpful and welcoming. It was that good that we returned again the next day!
Boars Head – SkiptonSunday dinner was the best our group of four had ever had out. every week we try a new place, its by far the best ! plus the service was superb. WELL DONE to all. I don't want to try anywhere else. Look forward to next time.
