Bizzie Lizzie’s – SkiptonIf your driving, walking or canal boating through East Marton you must make some time for a meal and a pint at The Cross Keys pub. A very warm welcome will greet you from the Landlord his staff team and the locals too. We have just had a couple of weeks on a canal boat and discovered the Cross keys and had a fantastic time. The menu is brilliant, we went in for Sunday lunch and i would fully recommend the Lamb followed by the home made rice pudding with rhubarb compote. The belly of pork is outstanding along with the sticky toffee pudding, great service and fairly priced. All the food is resourced locally and all the puddings are homemade the best pub grub i think i have ever had. Quiz night on a Monday night is good fun too only a pound per person with a light supper thrown in great value for an entertaining night. WE would recommend the Cross Keys without a doubt and will be returning on our next holiday.

Cross Keys – SkiptonWe stayed for 3 nights in Gargrave and found the pub on one of our walks around the village. Brilliant food. Massive portions, shouldn't have had a dessert but we just couldn't say no. Great place to eat, we came back for the rest of our stay to eat each night. I would recommend it to anyone
The Old Swan – SkiptonA great cafe and deli, Fantastic sarnies and jacket spuds, Some great puddings as well. I have also had breakfast there,,,yummy!
Taste – SkiptonIt was our wedding anniversary and so we went for afternoon tea at the Devonshire Arms. It was a little more expensive then other venues at £20 per person but we had heard good things about the restaurant and the location is beautiful. The tea was good and the scone was very nice but we were disappointed with the sandwiches and some of the cakes. The sandwiches were cold and the bread was hard, as if they had just been taken out of the fridge (rather then being prepared fresh). One cake had far too much pastry (about an inch deep), and there was a little jelly and cream desert in a small glass where the liquid and solid had separated. When I told the waitress that I had a peanut allergy she told me how difficult I had been and that I should have told them in advance. We would not recommend the afternoon tea and we would probably now think twice about returning for dinner.
Burlington Restaurant – SkiptonNot overly impressed. I took my uncle and aunt from the USA to The Bull and we had to pay up front just because we asked to sit outside. Did the five of us (two of whom were in their 60s) look as if we were really going to do a runner? Also there was very little choice on the lunchtime menu and the staff seemed disinterested. Disappointed - had expected so much more from Nigel!
The Bull – SkiptonWe use the Tempest as one of our favourite venues to run our food safety and HACCP training courses. The food is fantastic (very large portions so be warned). Bedrooms are also very comfortable and reasonably priced - two executive suites with hot tubs! Decor is cosy with plenty of modern, colourful touches. Make sure you book at busy times otherwise you could have a long wait in the bar as it's VERY popular.
The Tempest Arms – SkiptonMeal in the restaurant Saturday evening. Did not realise that it was the set menu only for £38 each. Absolutely lovely and would highly recommend.. The staff were friendly and helpful. Will visit again but for the brasserie and save the restaurant for special occasions.
Angel at Hetton – SkiptonWould highly recommend, very generous portions and the best lamb my partner has tasted. Comfortable, clean and full of character. Will definitely be back
The Tempest Arms – SkiptonWe visited on the 16th Jan 2011.We where greeted by very friendly staff,We sat in the snug which had a woodburning stove and was very cosy. There were 7 in our party and we all fully enjoyed the homemade wholesome food.I would highly recommend a visit. P.S hope you got your piano.
The Old Swan – SkiptonSmall and cosy pub, on the canal at Skipton. Good home good food, decent portions and always piping hot. Reasonable prices, the chili is a personal favourite of mine, but they also serve an excellent roast dinner. Try, you wont leave hungry!
Royal Shepherd Inn – Skiptonfeels like they go for quantity not quality. vege pizza looked like they had just thrown every thing they had on it. my request for no olives was written down by the waitress but the pizza came with millions on it.
Oakleys Grill and Pizzeria – SkiptonThis was an extraordinary experience from start to finish. 2 hours of sheer perfection. From the moment you step into the lounge area you are looked after like royalty. The staff are so highly trained to the Burlington standards that it is a pleasure to be served by them. Their sheer professionalism in serving you is a delight to watch. Every course is described to you in detail personally at table. The miniature (not on the menu courses are amazing) e.g vichyssoise with smoked haddock, mustard ice cream and a quails egg, that was 1 of 3. Superb wine list with Nigel's expert guidance. Yes, it is expensive but you have to experience this to believe it. The only problem is that the Burlington has set the bar so high that I feel I may not experience quality like this until I hopefully revisit next year. I am saving the pennies......sorry pounds.
Burlington Restaurant – SkiptonThe Narrow Boat is one of the excellent small chain of pubs, Market Town Taverns. It sells an excellent range of real ales, ciders and continental lagers. The food is of limited range but usually very good. The service is very friendly.

Bollywood Cottage – SkiptonWent for dinner at the Old Swan and was really impressed. The food was great, portions massive if i had known I would have stuck to main course to leave room for pudding! Food ranged from traditional pub grub to my favorite Mussels! Really friendly atmosphere would recommend anyone to pay a visit and sample the great food!
