Marston Green Fish Bar – SolihullWhat a disappointment. After reading the reviews I decided to take my girlfriend there for her birthday. When I walked in I felt like a had walked back into the 1970's with the most hideous decor and complete lack of any ambience. For starters my girlfriend had prawns in garlic butter and I had chilli meatballs. The garlic butter sauce was so strong and greasy that it made your stomach turn. The meatballs were tough and I thought I would have some bread to help it go down. The bread had obviously been cut and left out all evening as it was so dry and tough. That was enough for us. We didn't wait around for the main course. After telling the owner of our disappointment she was most put out and said this had never happened before. With the standard of food I find that difficult to believe. After being charged for just the drinks we ran across the road to the Boat for some good solid pub grub.
Longfellows – SolihullI was very cynical about visiting restaurants in Birmingham as the food in Melbourne, Australia where I live is outstanding not only in quality but pricing. I found the food at The Jade Wok on my visit quite comparable and easily measures up quality wise to a good Chinese restaurant in Melbourne. Very good indeed. GB, South Yarra, Melbourne, Australia

Spicewoods – SolihullDuring peak hours, the food and service is excellent. Some issues with food quality and availability if you go in the last hour or lunchtimes midweek.. Also annoyed at the practice of putting a fiver on prices during the festive period.
