Rom Mai Thai Cuisine – South LondonThe restaurant has just opened, but the things seem to be perfect. the foods are delicious.
Rom Mai Thai Cuisine – South LondonI recently visited Crystal Palace because of work and went in to the Monkey Bread tree. It was empty when I walked past and fancied a quick bite to eat so I decided to pop in. First impressions where the decor was slightly weird, someone had basically just thrown a few tins of paint at the walls but I guess that could be "artistic". I waited for about five minutes to be seated but there was no one around, this coupled with the fact the place was FREEZING cold I decided to leave. I'm not sure if there is a lack of staff there or they do not pay for heating but it really put me off! Such a shame.
The Monkey Bread Tree – South LondonWe dropped in for a late lunch on Saturday afternoon while dodging the freezing weather after a walk at the Horniman Musuem. What a treat, !!!The decor was rich and vibrant and a spacious, bright and WARM, homely venue. We enjoyed some excellent starters and mains and the food was fresh, punchy and delicious!! The hosts were most friendly and service was just perfect - they cook everything to order. The menu really tantalised us both and we were not disappointed. We will be back very soon and it appears the menu changes and evolves and some classics always available. Gluten free and veggie available. The best part was the price - excellent food and drinks and such fantastic value for money. See you very soon!!!
The Monkey Bread Tree – South LondonWe ate at The Monkey Bread Tree the other day. Its on Westow Hill right next to the closed down American diner. Its also family owned and run, so it has a very particular homely vibe about it. Very relaxed and warm. The place is quite quiet for the time being, although they did say that they've opened without any marketing, so I'm sure as word gets around it will get busy. Its decor is really vibrant and arty - the entire place is covered in all sorts of colours… and the menu matches it - it has a really great eclectic mix of items, and its really quite affordable. Its all made fresh (including the rolls which come with the pates), and they apparently keep changing the menu items to keep it unusual and a fun experience - so it won't remain the same all the time. Looking forward to trying more out on the menu, kind of felt as if we played it too safe on our first visit… we want to try to come back as they change things because some of the dishes they described as coming onto the menu soon sound really exciting. The chicken dish I ate, which was really succulent and well cooked, came with this potato filled pastry and a balsamic cabbage salad. I don’t know where it comes from, the type of food, but it was really great and unusual. I guess that’s why they say the restaurant is more international cuisine than anything else. It made for a really fun change on Crystal Palace high street, so I hope they hang around and get settled. They also make their own ice creams - some of which sounded really exciting like the apple and rosemary ice cream or Chinese apple. We settled for the Bakewell Sponge for dessert though, it was wonderful and really filling.
The Monkey Bread Tree – South LondonJust went for dinner @ The Monkey Bread Tree, never again. On first inspection it seems promising, inexpensive menu, nice wine good lighting, however it soon became clear, with the arrival of my main, that things were not as them seemed. The portions were tiny! And for£8.50 iI don't expect pretentious cuisine, I was very disappointed but thought that the pudding would make up for it, after waiting nearly 20 mins for it, it finally arrived a new twist on a bakewell tart I was promised what was delivered was a dry over cooked sponge with some very sorry looking fruit underneath, to add insult to injury I was also over charged, when I made it clear I was unhappy I did not get an apology I got excuses about how they've just opened, to me that is 30 quif down the drain, the only redeeming quality was the beer. I would not recommend it unless you've already eaten and enjoy spending money on pretentious, small portion food and slow service.
The Monkey Bread Tree – South LondonA great venue for the view across the River Thames but the restaurant was rather soulless and lacked atmosphere. The food was lovely and good value for the money. The serving staff were rather flat - almost tourist - weary which was a shame as the venue deserved better.
Tate Modern Restaurant – South LondonVery good food. The taste was just amazing.
Varanasi Chefs – South LondonBeen to this restaurant I was impressed with the food. Wanted to go back again for wife's birthday. No opening times available online or or on the shop window. I tried to call, telephone just rang and rang. Not happy:-(
Little Ochi – South LondonTried it out with my partner the other night and had a lovely time. The food was fantastic and the service was great. We were made to feel right at home and ended up having a drink with the owner at the end of the night. Cant wait to go back.
Sorsi and Morsi – South LondonHave eaten at L Ochi now twice. Love it. Choose your fish, I recommend the butter fish. Small variety of sides but the fish is fresh, tasty and saucy. Reasonably priced
Little Ochi – South LondonWell if you can't treat your staff well by exploiting them and employing them on zero hours contracts the food has to shit. It's enough to make one puke. DISGUSTING. YOU RICH BASTARDS SHOULD BE ASHAMED.
Tate Catering – South London10 stars to Spicemerchant Tandoori. Cant describe in words how good the food was. you must try the food as it speaks for it self. I also got free popadoms, onion salad and side dish. Also got vouchers to spend next time. A must try.....
Spice Merchant Tandoori – South LondonI found a very nice restaurant that also offers a home delivery service. The surroundings where tasteful but relaxing
Cool Sushi – South LondonI was exited going to this place , to say the least , it really put us off food especially meat . Do not ever go near it !
Nabrasa – South LondonTend to be in this restaurant once every 2 weeks or so. Food is fresh & tasty if the service is a bit haphazard. Family run & always busy! Would thoroughly recommend the lamb chops & the chicken kebabs are superb :-)
Cappadocia Ocakbasi – South LondonCame here for food before the NBA game. Considering that time was short and the restaurant was packed, we found the service to be excellent and the food to be perfectly cooked - very impressed indeed.
Las Iguanas – South LondonGreat atmosphere, vibes and good food. Easy pick up for chics ;) Ask after Fatima!
