Aneesa’s Buffet Restaurant – South Shieldswow! delicious food, beautiful restaurant, excellent well spoken staff, immaculate and clean. travelled from middlesbrough for a change will definitely be going again nothing in middlesbrough comes even close cant wait to take the rest of my family.thank you to all at aneesas for making our visit such a nice experience.
Aneesa’s Buffet Restaurant – South Shieldsthis is Our favourite restaurant in South Shields, we have eaten here on numerous occasions and we find it ideal for a special occasion or just a quick pasta or pizza. There is a good choice on the menu. We ate here last Friday 18 September and My Wife ordered the Halibut from the A la Carte Menu, which was excellent, as was My Red Snapper from the Specials card. There is always a good choice of Daily Specials on offer. The Staff are really friendly and polite. If you want quality, try this restaurant, you won't be disappointed.
Bravi – South ShieldsI have never been a fan of Indian buffet's as the food is always bland and stale. However aneesas is better than any Indian restaurant I've been to never mind Indian buffet's.I think the curries are cooked the way Indians would cook it for themselves and not the way they cook it in your local take away. I would recommend the lamb rogan josh and the lamb on the bone if they still do the lamb on the bone as last time we went it wasn't available , but to be fair i think all the food is first class and at £10 a head you wonder how they make money i suppose it's down to how busy it is.
Aneesa’s Buffet Restaurant – South Shieldsvisited this restaurant with the family for the first time yesterday & we haven't stopped talking about. Everything was first class. Good food, Excellent service & beautiful decor. Would highly recommend.
Aneesa’s Buffet Restaurant – South ShieldsAs Ian wrote, they have the best food I've ever had in a restaurant in the UK. Credit goes to the owner for making it so affordable that I would probably like to visit it more often than any where else.
Aneesa’s Buffet Restaurant – South ShieldsJust been back to Aneesa's, as promised (above) and we weren't dreaming. It really was as good as the first time: or maybe even better because there were 16 of us this time and food always tastes finer with good company. Here's to next time.
Aneesa’s Buffet Restaurant – South ShieldsWe had our first night off in 12 tonight (we're in the entertainment business) so we decided to check out Aneesa's; the new Punjabi buffet restaurant at Laygate in South Shields. WOW!! That's all I can say! Well, it's not really all I can say....... I certainly don't think that I could praise it highly enough, though. Everything about it from the very modern, comfortable décor; to the service and the huge choice of food (including seven or eight different pizzas for a bit of variety) was absolutely top class. Forget everything that you think you know about buffet restaurants: this one really is pure, traditional quality. From pickles and chutneys to raitas and salads, chicken tikka, sheek kebab, lamb or vegetable pakoras, lamb ribs (the meat from which melted in the mouth), chicken wings, popadoms and naans: they really did have almost every starter you could want. We were almost full from the starters alone and so, had to take a rest before resuming with the main courses. Choices of plain or pilau rice, chicken korma or madras, lamb rogan josh or methi lamb, vegetarian curries, palak paneer (a delicious spinach and cheese dish which I had seen on many a menu but never tried until tonight) and several other main meals, each of which I we felt it was 'our duty' to sample and all of which were as delicious as both the last and the next. For desserts there were chocolate or strawberry gateaux with cream (if one so wished), fruit, sweet vermicelli or rice pudding. Soft drinks were reasonably priced, though the restaurant (because of religious beliefs) does not serve alcohol! This is not a problem though: you are more than welcome to bring in your own alcohol and they have no problem with supplying you with glasses from which to drink your 'carry ins'. We were trying to decide whether we'd ever had a better meal out, in this country and came to the conclusion that we haven't. We have eaten out, on average, once a week for more than eight years so, as you can imagine, this is high praise indeed! The restaurant has been open for only five weeks: I hope that these high standards are maintained. Anyway... we are off again on Monday and are planning on revisiting just to make sure that we weren't dreaming. We'll be taking a crowd of friends with us to share the joy though.
Aneesa’s Buffet Restaurant – South ShieldsUnfortunately I have been to the Sundial 3 times and have never yet been able to get any food. The last time was a Monday night at 7.30pm, I checked with the staff if food was still available and I was told it was until 9pm. By the time we sat down with our drinks and decided what to have the staff told my partner the would not take any more orders. The Sundial seems to stop catering on a whim, granted it was a hot day but it was definitely not at capacity. Avoid at all costs as you will probably be wasting your time anyway.
The New Sundial – South Shieldscalled in one day during the week just the two of us for lunch. £3.95 for 3 courses the missus had chicken chatt which she said was superb i went for onion bhajis (2) wonderful. Main courses were 2 chicken madras once again delightful, onion pillau chips.(extras) 2 plain nan breads. One ice cream and one coffee(part of the 3 course menu)2 pints of Kingfisher and 2 cokes £17 wat a bargain Fantastic> Why a lot more people don`t write about this place is beyond me.Fantastic food and a nice relaxing atmosphere
Star Of India – South ShieldsI tried the Dilshad after I was recommended by a friend and I have to say I was not Disappointed. I have now been there 3 times in the past 2 months and ave received excellent meals with great service.

Spice 1 – South Shieldsno reservation for busy Sunday night but managed to get a table Service and staff friendly Food was best we have in quite some time in any Indian Would definitely recommend this to friends
Cafe India – South ShieldsQuite simply a different class - there is not a curry to match the taste of what you get here !!
Tandoori International – South ShieldsExcellent food, a chicken Vindaloo to die for superb. Tables down the sides are separated for your privacy, although the waiters keep looking to see if you are finished which is a bit of a pain. All in all a very good meal for peanuts really.
Star Of India – South ShieldsGreat meal tried others no comparison.
Tandoori International – South ShieldsGood food, good service, and excellent value for money. We have been going there regularily for years and have yet to find better value for the money.
Royal Tandoori – South ShieldsAbsolutely love this place!! Top food, great service and a gentle warm feeling to the place whether dining in the very attractive restaurant or having a drink at the bar. Everything about the place is great and a nice homely feel to it. Certainly one of my top favourite places to dine in the North East without a doubt!!
