Weld Blundell Arms – SouthportCelebrated our engagement some 28 years when Mario and Rebecca first opened. Always high standard of food and wine. Excellent service even when busy. Very good value for money. One of a few in Southport to last, perhaps reflects how people and footballers feel about it.
Mamma Mia Pizzeria – SouthportI love these Tea Rooms and I've been going here for a couple of years now whenever I visit Southport. It's quite an old fashioned but quaint sort of place. It seems to be popular with many older people as I suppose because it's a nice quiet relaxed atmosphere. The service is good and the staff are friendly and efficient. The food is excellent, especially the home made soups which are the best I've ever tasted. It's very good value for money.
Nostalgia Tea Rooms – SouthportBeautiful Italian freshly cooked food - the only place I can find in Southport that serves spot on Italian food - with fresh ingredients in every dish, beautifully presented and with great care and attention to detail - and stunning salads - so fresh.
Gusto Trattoria – SouthportService very fast, too fast, like they don't want you in there. Had some squid stuffed with prawns that was excellent, everything else was average. The beef with chili garlic, duck and pineapple and sweet and sour chicken all seemed to have same sauce and everything had lots of carrots.
New China City – SouthportMust be the best pub in the northwest. The food is fab and so are the staff
Hesketh Arms – SouthportGreat fun, great food, great place, staff couldn't do enough to help, not the cheapest but well worth it.
Gusto Trattoria – Southportwe have had lunch here quite a few times. The service is good, the food fast arriving and really tasty. They really seem to cater well for those of us that are taking lunch in a rush. I have tried many things on the menu and never been disappointed i don't know how they do it for the price.
Jasmine Tree Restaurant – SouthportWe went in for lunch. We arrived early within 20 minutes the place was packed always the sign of a good restaurant! The food was fine I had the obligatory spaghetti bolognese (something i always do to gauge an Italian restaurant before returning for something more adventurous.) The atmosphere good I would definitely return if only because the place felt special. The only draw back was the hike to the loo upstairs!
Casa Italia – SouthportVisited Wednesday night for my mothers birthday. Excellent service, excellent food and immaculate interior. The steak was the best I have ever tasted, one of our party asked for a pasta dish that wasn't on the menu which they made no questions asked and it was the best they had ever tasted, the lasagna came in an earthenware dish piping hot straight from the oven and again there was no complaints here it was outstanding. Will visit again when ever possible
Mamma Mia Pizzeria – SouthportYou cannot put a price on friendly honest service and I can honestly say the service here is second to none. The food was excellent. The mixed platter for two was very generous and the pizza's authentically light. They did fit us in without a booking but others later were turned away so I would book first.
Gusto Trattoria – SouthportI went to fuegos last night and lets just say i will NEVER go back again. After making my order, i was made to wait 40 minutes before the food, sorry dog food was served to me which i could have shat out onto a plate myself. Service was awful, they can take criticism and between them i don't think they even know where mexico is. From now on i will be sticking to Old El Paso food from the supermarket.
Fuegos – SouthportOne of the very best. Excellent wines, Quality food. Limited space though. Think you should ring before so not to be disappointed. Fish stew sensational.
Volare – SouthportWhat a wonderful little Italian rest the staff could do enough for my wife and i and we felt like we were actually on holiday. the food was as fine as i have had in any rest visited previously, well done guys keep up the good work.
Volare – SouthportOrdered the most expensive steak on the specials menu, asked for it to be well done and it arrived in a suspiciously fast 5 minutes together with our other meals. Not surprisingly the steak was rare, so rare that it was almost mooing!! Pointed this out to the waitress who, without asking what we wanted or explaining what she was going to do, whisked the plate away. 5 minutes later the plate was returned with the same piece of partially eaten steak having been thrown back on the grill and cremated! When we told the waitress that we weren't happy with this she told us that it would take 20 minutes to cook a fresh one! We asked to speak to the manager and when he eventually appeared we voiced our complaint to him about the standard of food and waitressing. He immediately became angry and defensive, raised his voice and tried to accuse us of being rude, stating that it is normal practice in every restaurant to reheat food and again tried to deflect attention away from himself by accusing us, his customers of being rude for raising the complaint. He eventually walked away, calling over his shoulder with as little grace as he could muster that he would refund the cost of the steak! AVOID AT ALL COSTS UNLESS YOU APPRECIATE BADLY COOKED FOOD, UNHELPFUL STAFF AND LICENCEES WITH A CHIP ON THEIR SHOULDER.
Hesketh Arms – SouthportWe have eaten here several times, the staff are always attentive and the food is always superb. I would recommend it to anyone without having to worry that they might find the place having a bad night. I have eaten there both at, Christmas menu time, lunch time and in the evening and the quality is always the same, excellent!!!!!.
Auberge Brasserie – SouthportWe have been going to this restaurant regularly over the years and have never been disappointed by the standard of the food or the service. The atmosphere is always brilliant and you are always guaranteed a very warm welcome (not always a table though if you don't book at the weekend). We have eaten in many Greek restaurants and are still waiting to find one in this country that can beat the Crete Taverna!
Crete Greek Taverna – SouthportWow!! This restaurant is amazing. The food is cooked so beautifully it`s well worth the money. I have been a few times and have loved it every time. The only disappointment at the moment is they have taken the duck off the menu for summer. Can`t wait for it to return in the winter! In the meantime I`ll have to console myself with the delicious Choc hazelnut brownie!! (make sure you leave room for that you will not be disappointed!)
