Cranberrys Coffee Shop – SouthportI took my daughter for our evening meal there whilst on holiday in April 2008. This place is absolutely outstanding in every respect; cannot be faulted. The place oozes quality. Food was delicious and very reasonably priced. Service first class. Staff very pleasant and smartly turned out. Everything (including toilets) spotless. Lovely atmosphere. Very highly recommended; a must to visit.
Westminster Tea Rooms – SouthportI would not recommend the carvery at the weld blundell. It is always cold and each time I have been the 'chef' always makes every attempt to give you the minimum amount of meat possible. I went tonight 22.03.08 and the vegetables on offer were appalling. Apparently they were restocking and I can only presume they were using up old stock. The only thing I could recommend was the coffee. I like to give venues a few trys before I finally decide not to go again. Tonight I decided not to go again!
Weld Blundell Arms – SouthportHorrendous.. Have visited this restaurant lots of times since it became a carvery and it has been superb but after visiting it today I will not be returning. When arrived today I was informed that it was now a 2 for 1 ,I should of known then to leave. After being told that there was lots of things on the menu that weren't available was ordered and were told that all meals were 2 for 1 which when the bill arrived wasn't the case. We received the wrong drinks then wrong meals then meals with things missing not explaining until we asked that these things were out of stock. Basically don't go there
Weld Blundell Arms – SouthportThis pub is no longer an O'Neills pub, its name has reverted to the Hoghton arms and is being run as family business, it has been refurbished to make it light and airy and offers good food from 12:00 until 18:00, with darts, pool, quiz nights, TV, and guest ales...and the staff are very friendly.
Hoghton Arms – SouthportI found the service at lunchtime very poor, one hassled looking waiter serving between lunch & dinner periods. The food was decidedly average.
Mamma Mia Pizzeria – SouthportI was recommended this restaurant by a taxi driver. But was a little disappointed. The meal was quite bland, there was not much meat in it but it was smothered in sauce which I didn't like too much. Maybe it was an off night but I don't think I'll try it again.
Taj Mahal – SouthportThis restaurant is not only one of the best in Southport but equally as good as any London restaurant I have been to. I've eaten in some top places in London:- Oxo Tower, Smiths of Smithfield, Fifteen and Mezzo, places where a meal for two with drinks will typically set you back about £150 upwards. I make no exaggeration when I say that Cloisters is one of the best I've been to in terms of the quality of food, the choice and the personal service. A superb good quality menu and a formal setting and service yet relaxed atmosphere. I had such a fantastic meal recently accompanied by my wife and two friends, when the bill arrived I was absolutely convinced we'd been under charged. The only one thing they could improve on would be to stay open later, maybe thats a cultural thing, in London people tend to go for dinner about Eight onwards whereas here it seems many people want to be all done by seven.
Knightsbridge Restaurant – SouthportWhat is there to say about this place other than its absolutely my favourite restaurant in the UK, I live abroad and travel home 2 to 3 times a year and i always make at least one trip to the warehouse each stay, I have been going now for about 10 years and can honestly say that i have never had a bad meal. Mark the chef is amazing and all the staff are equally talented. I cannot wait until the new HOTEL opens this year. The food drink and whole ambience of the warehouse is well worth a trip.Hoping to get home Easter or Summer to have duck spring rolls or Tiger Prawns in chilli.. or maybe the thai inspired beef salad or to be honest whatever as the food is always exceptional
The Warehouse Kitchen and Bar – SouthportWe had a lovely time here, tea, coffee and cakes, my fiancee took me here as a surprise and i loved it, will come here more often when i can.
Westminster Tea Rooms – SouthportFantastic. we had our boxing day (2007) lunch there and the meals were great quality. The menu is varied and might appear a bit pricey but the food is cooked well, of high standard or presentation and much more importantly tastes tasty if you know what i mean. Excellent and will be going back there again. Its just a shame we didn't go there for our Christmas meal, which we had at the packet steamer down the road. Dont go there its rubbish.
Pheasant Inn – SouthportFood is excellent, cannot fault the food, every meal I have had is top quality and reasonably priced. Wine is excellent. My partner and I have been many times and with family. Its great for romantic or family occasions. The atmosphere is excellent, staff, you cannot fault them, staff are very efficient and attentive every time. I know very few restaurants who have the qualities:excellent food, excellent atmosphere, excellent staff and reasonably priced
Auberge Brasserie – SouthportThe Barking Frog was a wonderful surprise. We had just wandered in from a wine and cheese tasting at the Chateau Ste. Michelle on a Wed night and decided we just wanted a 'bite to eat'. Well, we decided on 'going for the gusto' and having the tasting menu with the wine pairing. The meal was flawless. If Michelin stars could be awarded here in the USA as in Europe, then barking frog is definitely at least a two star (three being the highest). There are meals that stand out and are permanently etched in your memory for me - a three star Michelin in the Netherlands, a two star Michelin in Brussels, the 'Lampreia' in Seattle and now the Barking Frog (in all my international travels) stand out as dinners you will always remember. The 5 course tasting menu dinner was highly original ...somehow not something I would expect in 'Woodinville'. The consome with foie gras and cherry was amazingly tasteful and well balanced. The pork cheeks were the most original in that the sauce was an equivalent of what's called 'speculaas' in Holland...cookies and many sweets are made of this flavour combination which is not found in America. It is a combination of anisette, and cinnamon and licorice - very surprising to find these flavours alongside the pork cheeks...this chef knows how to please the palate...it was absolutely delicious. And the mint ice cream with pure dark choc bits and REAL MINT ...wow... I will never be able to eat any other kind of mint ice cream again after having tasted this one ...makes you realize that everything else in the 'mint department' is so 'artificial' tasting by comparison. I have no faults to find with the meal we had...it was to be totally hones - absolutely flawless! Barking Frog you've got me hooked!
The Barking Frog – Southportvery good little Italian. modern approach fresh ingredients served with a smile. v good pasta!
Gusto Trattoria – SouthportThe restaurant has a good lively atmosphere with friendly well mannered staff. The food is excellent, averagely priced at about £15-£20 per head including starter, drink and coffee. One useful facility for a town centre establishment is a reasonable car park. I can also recommend their takeaway menu.
Kasturi Indian Cuisine – SouthportFuegos is a fabulous restaurant. My family and i visit often and it gets better every time!!! The food is fantastic and good value. The only problem is there is far too much to choose from! The service is great and we are looking forward to our next visit.
Fuegos – SouthportTRIED IT AND DIDN'T LIKE IT-OAP FOOD FROM THE 80'S
Forge Brasserie – SouthportEverybody seemed to be talking about this restaurant so we decided to visit. I must say we were bowled over. Everything was exceptional. The presentation of the food was amazing only surpassed by the taste. The service was also excellent. Smiling faces all around. This restaurant definitely has the full package. This must be the best place in the area. We will certainly be going back soon. Well done.
