The Kitchen – SpaldingWe biked in advance for Sunday afternoon. We were greeted by being told they had run out of all Sunday lunches and could have fish , sausage or pie. The rest of the menu was very limited to basically sandwiches. Very disappointed as this was a birthday meal.
The Kitchen – SpaldingPleasant Sunday Lunch experience- food was tasty, pork especially tender and lovely surprise to get a chunk of delicious crackling, a favourite of mine. Yorkshire pud and good and fresh veg completed a very good Sunday roast with super roast potatoes and gravy. 10/10 and staff were very attentive.
The Kitchen – SpaldingI booked here to have a meal at lunchtime with some visiting friends. A real positive here is that many pubs around here are closed on Mondays and some on Tuesdays too due to working over the weekend, so it was good to find The Kitchen as an option. It was very busy and it took quite some time before we were approached even for drinks, so we went up to the bar to order and soon after the drinks arrived and food order was taken. Food arrived quite quickly and all four of us really enjoyed our meals. “Hunters Chicken” can vary so much as a pub meal but three of us chose that option and it was excellent and well worth the price. There was plenty of space between tables and sanitation stations located at various points. Overall we were impressed.
The Kitchen – SpaldingWhen we visit our family,we always come here for a ploughmans . So we came in yesterday but was very disappointed as it has changed, the pate was strong, not nice. No coleslaw, no Apple, ham was dry . Also it was put on a bigger plate to make it look more. Not as nice as it use to be. Shame as doubt we will come again as very hard to get a decent ploughman's.
The Kitchen – SpaldingWe had the fish and chips, very greasy and batter not cooked inside felt queasy after.
The Kitchen – SpaldingGood food and service. Quite busy so worth booking during popular times
The Kitchen – SpaldingWe can’t fault The Kitchen for what it is. It’s a great place for a catch up with friends and good for a sit down for lunch, on a shopping trip. The staff are always friendly and welcoming and can’t do enough for you. The food is fresh and presented well and I would say good value for money!
The Kitchen – SpaldingBooked a table online for a birthday meal on a Sunday, limited meals available on a Sunday which was ok, 2 of the meals were a Sunday lunch, didn’t check with the waitress if the gravy came separately in a jug, (it didn’t ) every Sunday meal we have been to in a restaurant, they have served the gravy separately, the meal was swimming in a thin tasteless gravy, 2 roast potatoes, (didn’t taste like potato) 1 piece of broccoli and 4 carrots, 1 deflated Yorkshire pudding, all of the food must have been pre frozen from a packet and then heated in a microwave, my Sunday lunch was only lukewarm had to be sent back to be reheated again in the microwave, I’ve never tasted such an awful tasteless dinner, - for the price,; I think was shocking, £12.00, 1 of our party had a sandwich , with a small handful of crisps and 3/4 strands of rocket lettuce on the plate £7.00 again , I think the price is expensive for what we had. We had a jug of water to drink with ice cubes and lemon -great, but they gave us all warm glasses from the dishwasher, so the water wasn’t cold ….. it’s all these little things that could be thought out before serving. Unfortunately it was a bad experience and won’t be visiting again,
The Kitchen – SpaldingIt’s really sad to see that most of reviews on here are negative. However people are often more “empowered” to right a negative review than a positive one. The kitchen at Springfield’s has a nice menu that isn’t fussy and is easy on the pocket. The menu is designed in a way that ensures you get your meal quickly, hot and on budget. They understand that they are attached to an outlet which is visited by many bus tour operators so it’s visitors want something to eat but will be on time limit. The kitchen is a hybrid of a garden centre tea room and a pub garden. Nice wooden tables and chairs all round, nicely spaced inside. The staff are friendly, professional but busy, - remember that! So they will take your order quickly, bring your drinks, meal, and receipt when your finished. If you watch them for a while they never stop - doing something. I emailed The Kitchen in advanced requesting a private / quiet area and they provided us with just that. Like all businesses they will try their best to accommodate all requests but due to the foot fall from the daily coaches they may not be able to accommodate you on the day unless you contact them in advanced. Thank you to all of the staff who were respectful and professional when accommodating for our request. It was so very much appreciated. I’m sorry the reviews on here seem to be negative - people are more likely to complain than praise - it’s the British way ;) So for anyone thinking should I go here the answer is yes. Just think of the hundreds of people they serve weekly from coach trips that are not in the habit of being online and writing reviews and would have been happy customers. Out of the hundreds of people they serve daily for the most part they get it right - of course some people may not enjoy their meal or something goes wrong. It does happen and those people often feel the need to complain - and that’s ok. Just bare in mind the 100’s of people that don’t have access to write reviews and have left happy customers! Well done team the kitchen. There is a nice outdoor area which is lovely on a summers day. The inside is clean and decorated in a nice neutral palette of colours. They have a private area if you are hosting a party which is a lovely feature.
The Kitchen – SpaldingDisappointed with the limited choice on menu and availability , the restaurant was nearly empty no ambiance , serving staff were just ok but waited quite a while for our drinks. We also found it very pricey for the amount on the plate. It’s a shame as it used to be great, but we will have rethink coming back.
The Kitchen – SpaldingI was taking my elderly mother shopping and booked here for Sunday lunch. Food was good. My mother I has hearing aids and found the noise from the music too loud as the room echoes. She asked if they could turn the music down which they did for 2 songs. If you want to have Sunday lunch with someone and a catch-up with people you have not seen much of over the past 18 months then go somewhere else. Mum had to take her hearing aids out and continued to eat in isolation as she couldn’t hear me if I talked to her.
The Kitchen – SpaldingAfter the fiasco of our booking this email is a joke. We arrived for them to have no record of our booking due to it apparently being a new system with a glitch. I have confirmation too. Kitchen was closed and we had to elsewhere. They knew there was a problem, so why hasn't it been sorted?
The Kitchen – SpaldingSunday lunch again lovely cannot fault the meals and good service from friendly staff.
The Kitchen – SpaldingFriendly accommodating staff with good food at a sensible price
The Kitchen – SpaldingWe booked a table for my daughters 7th birthday. The reason we chose this restaurant was because online the menu included a childs afternoon tea which my daughter wanted for her birthday. Upon arriving we ordered and were told they no longer did a childs version but we could order an adults one if we wanted. We had no choice but to order the adults as my daughter had her heart set on afternoon tea. When we were ready to pay i asked if we could get military discount, which could but when the bill was paid they didn't add this so we had to pay full price. Over all what should of been a lovely afternoon for my daughters birthday was not as great as expected.
The Kitchen – SpaldingVisited for the first time and had a lovely lunchtime special fish goujons chips and peas for £5.50. Clearly home cooked the batter on the fish was light, crunchy and very tasty. Service was excellent too. I will certainly visit again.
The Royal Mail Cart – SpaldingHi, afterall we don't have so many discos in Spalding so it's a pity, that Punchbowl is run by such boorish , rude and violent man. Yesterday with a group of friends I went there. We were enjoying ourself in a small circle just a few steps from so called “DJ “ Punchbowl Pete. One of our friends touched Christmas decorations which were dangling above his head .Then Punchbowl Pete without any word of explanation or warning approached him rapidly from behind and hit the back of his head with his fist. Then equally rapidly he withdrew himself back behind the console. So when our friend turned back he could not even see who the hell hit him. And rest of us who were in front of him, even if we could see it all very well, we gazed confused and surprised by such state of affairs. I have to say I've been to many places and I've seen many things but I've never encountered such outrageous behaviour of a owner of the establishment towards his customers. To me such thing is no more no less but a criminal offence. However, all of you who are reading this review, please be advised, you don't have to expose yourself to this kind of treatment
