Thaikhun – SpinningfieldsWe were very excited to try Manchester House and it very much lived up to our expectations of it. As the flaship foodie restaurant of Living Ventures, and with the big billing it has had with Aiden Byrne at the cooker, much praise has been heaped upon it. It has been made quite clear a Michelin star for manchester was the aim. The food was really first class and deserving of that accolade. We had frogs legs, snails, venison and hare. The venue's ambience and atmosphere were exactly what we wanted. Great design, plenty of space, cool subdued lighting and a huge open plan kitchen. Great to choose to look into the kitchen or the dining room. Very extensive wine list and the prices were good considering the quality within it. Service was good and I would have been more than satisfied if it wasnt for the fact that Manchester House has pretensions for excellence. Questions of providence, about the wine list and how many chefs there were etc, were met with startled looks. Some waiting staff definitely needed training and we were surprised that this wasn't taken as seriously as the food. Do not let this put you off. We spent £166 for 2 with a good bottle of wine 2 courses and a shared dessert. For the experience we had I see that as very good value and we normally pay a lot less than that for a meal out.
Manchester House – SpinningfieldsAmazing recently built old style pub in the heart of uber contempory Spinningfields. Great outside space and I must say the best Guiness I can remember having. Didnt eat but will next time.
Oast House – SpinningfieldsThe entrance to this restaurant is reminiscent of le Louvre in Paris. Through the glass pyramid you descend to a unique and stylish subterranean bar & restaurant where everything is cream. We enjoyed a drink at the bar before being shown to our table which was at the far end of the restaurant, directly in front of the glass wall which separates the restaurant and the kitchen. It was fantastic watching the food being prepared and a sign of confidence by the management I always think. Our waiter was extremely attentive and knowledgeable about the food & more than happy to offer advice or make suggestions. You can choose a selection of smaller dishes or stick to the more traditional starter & main course. If you like fish, this is the place for you however there are plenty of vegetarian and meat options too. The food was amazing - we opted for 8 smaller dishes to share which arrived in a steady flow rather than all at once which suited us. I can't wait to go back - lovely experience.
Australasia – SpinningfieldsHad another lovely meal there. And to make it even better all Vegetarian Main Courses this week are 2 for 1 with this voucher. Happy Days! :-)http://www.giraffe.net/classic/promotion/89/manchester-spinningfields
Giraffe – SpinningfieldsI was completely stunned and in awe with this place, from its subterranean location and entrance to its interior. This is one hell of a cool place. I popped in for a beer after work. I had a good chat with the bar staff who knew plenty about their product. I wandered around the place, checking out the huge open planned kitchen which looks right. The colour scheme of the interior is like nothing I've seen before, you need to go and check this place out, i know it'll be right up your street. Ive yet to try the food but the menu is full of everything that good in the culinary world at the moment. this place will blow you away.
Australasia – SpinningfieldsWe didn't eat but enjoyed excellent whisky Sours in a cool atmospheric environment. Will return for a meal but I here they do a mean breakfast too.
The Alchemist – SpinningfieldsEnjoyed my spaghetti With clams in this bright and cheerful spinningfields restaurant!
Carluccio’s – Spinningfieldsi visit this restaurant last week with my friend, was really nice and the staff very friendly.
Gourmet Burger Kitchen – Spinningfieldswent to GBK last night and sat outside in the sun. Awesome burger as ever - had the greek lamb with hummus. Nice fat chips. Good beers to wash it down with. They've done away with the annoying order at the counter idea so that's another bonus.
Gourmet Burger Kitchen – SpinningfieldsI love this place and the spicy chicken ramen noodle soup is the perfect hangover cure.
Wagamama – SpinningfieldsWagamama at Spinningfields is just so good!! Always great value for a brilliant meal that is tasty and satisfying. Must visit at least once a week, don't like going anywhere else.
Wagamama – Spinningfieldswe found giraffe through a mention in Heat mag, and decided to go after work. Firstly, the staff were brilliant, made us feel really welcome & talked to us about the menu and made some recommendations etc - we chose well, nachos to share as a starter which came with all the usual toppings but taster fresher than i remember from elsewhere, the chicken schnitzel burger (how massive??) and the spicy turkey enchilada which had the boyfriend quiet for 10 mins. we had a couple of cocktails in their 'barbuddy' 50% off thing midweek and overall an excellent night and i would highly recommend this place over any other restaurants in the area. it's got the x factor for sure!
Giraffe – SpinningfieldsWould not recommend this chain, the food was very bland and not the cheapest of places to eat. Great to have an open kitchen but not so great to see your mains waiting before you've had your starters! There are plenty of better restaurants in Manchester
The Slug and Lettuce – SpinningfieldsThe burgers are gorgeous but on the pricey side at £7+ for most burgers. I've only ever had the blue cheese burger when I've been to GBK and it's delicious. My husband had the pestarella which was okay but not as good as the blue cheese. I guess my only real gripe about the place is that the fries are £2.65. For a small portion of obviously frozen, pre-processed chips that you could get in any fast food place it's extortionate and lets the meal down. They'd be better off doing real chips or potato wedges. For 2 burgers, 2 portions of fries and 2 cokes the bill came to £26 which isn't particularly good value in relation to the quality of what's on offer.
Gourmet Burger Kitchen – SpinningfieldsWent for late lunch on Saturday afternoon. Excellent for a chain bar/restaurant. Open kitchen. Excellent service. Good food. Very quiet at the moment. Guess it's busier during the week and week day lunchtimes for the office staff around there.
The Slug and Lettuce – SpinningfieldsWe have visited HaHa three times since it has opened and the service is fantastic - the best we have come across for a bar chain. It is a little quiet as I think a lot of people are not aware that it is open, I hope the quality of service and food will continue to be 100% when it gets busier.
The Slug and Lettuce – SpinningfieldsThe food here is great. The burgers are probably the best I've ever tasted. The beef is delicious, soft, and just perfectly done. There is a choice of about 25 different burgers. The majority of these have Aberdeen Angus Scotch beef as their main ingredient, but there's also a choice of several chicken, lamb, venison, chorizo and vegetarian options. Drinks-wise, there's a selection of bottled beers (including a couple of interesting New Zealand ones), soft drinks, milkshakes (which are just amazing!), soft drinks. Didn't see the wine list, but there is one available to look at on request. The welcome is friendly, and the ambience decent enough (very good for a burger restaurant!). We were shown to our table and informed it's a 'order and pay at the counter' set up. Slightly irritating, but fair enough. Food arrived quickly, and was just lovely.
