Sing Faye Chinese Restaurant – St.HelensWe went on new years, booked in line which was fairly easy to do It was very busy, but we were made to feel very welcome The food was very good, the service great Would definitely visit again
Sing Faye Chinese Restaurant – St.HelensFood was lovely really well presented and service was really great. What we loved the most was how we wasn't rushed and was able to take a break in between the courses if we wanted to which made us enjoy the food more enjoyable.
Sing Faye Chinese Restaurant – St.HelensStunning food. Fave Chinese by a mile.
Sing Faye Chinese Restaurant – St.HelensDelicious food as always. Waiting staff lovely. Would recommend to anyone.
Sing Faye Chinese Restaurant – St.HelensAttended Houghwood with the family, with ages ranging from 14 to 78! We'd booked ahead and were met by very attentive and friendly staff who showed us to our table. We settled in and ordered a few drinks whilst reviewing the menu. Staff were very approachable and we were given such a lovely welcome. Starters we had included Prawn Cocktail, Melon and a Winter Veg Soup. All were very well presented and tasted delicious! The soup in particular was a real winner! All but one of us had the Christmas Dinner, with the Sea Bass being the other option chosen. The Christmas Dinner was simply devine! Beautifully seasoned and every element was cooked to perfection. The Turkey was succulent and there was plenty of it. The roast potatoes were crispy yet fluffy and the vegetables were cooked just right. The gravy was also exceptionally well seasoned! Various accompaniments were offered and the Cranberry Sauce was equally very nice indeed. The Sea Bass was also cooked to perfection and very well seasoned. Desserts followed. We chose the homemade Cheesecake (which was recommended by our wonderful waitress) and also the Christmas Pudding with Brandy Sauce. One of our group just wanted a small portion of Ice Cream (not on the menu) and they were more than happy to do that. Nothing was too much trouble. Drinks were topped up throughout and the surroundings were very festive. We all left fully satisfied with the food, service and settings - highly recommended. We've dined at Houghwood on several occasions and not been disappointed once. I expected a lot from their Christmas Menu and it certainly delivered. Beautiful.
Houghwood Spikes Bar and Restaurant – St.HelensFood was spot on. One thing I didn’t appreciate was being pester for a tip by the waiter service.
Sing Faye Chinese Restaurant – St.HelensMy partner and I had Christmas lunch here on 8 December 2023. We both opted for Pate and turkey, he finished with a brownie and I had christmas put with brandy sauce. The pate was served with a spiced apple chutney and fingers of white toast garnished with rocket. We found the Pate to be a little lacking in flavour, but the trimmings were all very good. The main course was thinly sliced turkey crown, accompanied by 3 roast potatoes, 6 sprouts, 2 thin slices of roast carrots and a small piece of roast parsnip, accompanied by a 'red wine jus', pigs in blankets and stuffing. I would have liked to have seen a few more veggies but can't complain at the portion of turkey we received, although I'm not convinced it had been sliced from an actual turkey crown on that day. The sole pig in a blanket was a little underdone and tasted of frankfurter rather than pork sausage, and i found the gravy very bland but I suppose I'm nit picking really. The main course was served piping hot, which is a real bonus when an establishment is catering for numbers. On to the sweets. The Christmas pud is an individual one served with warm brandy sauce, and my partner's brownie was served with ice cream. All in all, the meal was pleasant enough, and reasonable value for money, but I wouldn't choose Houghwood above other establishments in the area. I think maybe we were spoiled by being regulars when Houghwood first opened and was beyond excellent. We abandoned ship when they stopped silver service, and whilst the staff were efficient and pleasant, we probably will try somewhere else next year. To end on a positive, we founds drinks to be very competitively priced.
Houghwood Spikes Bar and Restaurant – St.HelensHad an excellent meal here last night. Food was piping hot, fresh and delicious. Best restaurant in St Helens by far. Second time we’ve been and second time we’ve thoroughly enjoyed it. Will be back again at some point :)
Sing Faye Chinese Restaurant – St.HelensWe would definitely recommend if you enjoy Chinese food, beautifully cooked, generous portions and reasonably priced, but what really makes this restaurant stand out is the service, you are made to feel very welcome and nothing is too much trouble.
Sing Faye Chinese Restaurant – St.HelensSlow service and some staff seemed very unsure. Had to ask 3 times for boiled rice which was not brought with order, meanwhile food going cold. Hot plates went cold while waiting for food so we had to get them changed. Nobody came to take orders for dessert and coffee, it was hard to attract waitresses' attention throughout the meal
Sing Faye Chinese Restaurant – St.Helens4 friends, and I enjoyed an excellent meal last evening .Nice atmosphere Efficient staff and delicious food.
Sing Faye Chinese Restaurant – St.HelensExcellent value for money, tasty menue and good service
Houghwood Spikes Bar and Restaurant – St.HelensBeen twice now and although the food is good, the service isn’t great. Waited 15 minutes to be seated even with a booking and then waited 45 minutes after we finished our starter to get our main course. Cost of starters a bit ridiculous for what you get £8.50 for prawn toast. Isn’t a good deal.
Sing Faye Chinese Restaurant – St.HelensFirst time dinning out at Sing Faye it was my Husband special birthday. What a lovely place inside decorated Lovely and a nice relaxing atmosphere. Sing Faye Chinese Restaurant – St.HelensWe absolutely love it here had a fabulous night, food is the best chinese weve eaten. The staff are lovley and we a had such a laugh with the girls x
Sing Faye Chinese Restaurant – St.HelensHave been past many times and thought we’d give it a try. Service good, food was delicious but quite pricey. We ordered 2 of the starter platters £10 (minimum 2 people) and wasn’t really much of a portion. Same with the lemon chicken as a main £13 for a piece of chicken with slices of lemon but then have to order egg fried rice separately. Vermicelli was delicious and one of the best we’ve had. Would recommend but be prepared to put your hand in your pocket as was £95 for 2 adults and 1 child. Didn’t appreciate the comment about the 10% service charge either as we did leave a tip.
