Lovely food Fast service A little pricey
House of Zen – SunderlandNice atmosphere, very friendly staff. We ordered the sharing platter which I’ve had many times it was still very tasty but the portion sizes have reduced. The chicken satay, boiled fried rice and garlic toasted potatoes were lovely. My husband chose Thai special curry which was very bland. I think overall it was overpriced !
House of Zen – SunderlandDisappointing first visit. Overpriced for quality of food My partners Duck in Terryaki sauce was mainly fat and gristle. I told the server, and asked her to pass it on to the chef..we were still charged £16.80. My chicken dish in honey and chilli sauce(not a sauce more of a juice/soup) was chunky ,like chicken dippers. My sweet of black lava buns with condensed milk possibly the worst thing ever, again a waste of £8.95. Our hot plates(wonderful) arrived 15 mins before our meal, although were readily replaced when asked…as cold when food arrived. Servers professional ,but very little communication, and at no point did anyone come and ask how our meal was. I would not have chosen to pay the 10% added tip. Our visit came recommended, but I doubt if we will return.

House of Zen – SunderlandWe attended this restaurant and the experience overall was lovely. Waiter/waitresses were very polite but the food was pretty box standard. Bland as ever with a big dump of crumbs on top to hide that fact that the salt and pepper chicken was flavourless. Crumbs were nice though. Very overpriced for what we got
House of Zen – SunderlandA nice meal. Lovely location and views in daylight. Less attractive in the dark. Food and service were very good.
House of Zen – SunderlandFood was excellent enjoyed by whole party and great cocktails. We did have a new waitress and you could tell she was still learning as seemed nervous but we all have to learn and I’m sure after a few more shifts she will be great. Definitely be back.
House of Zen – SunderlandFabulous experience from start to finish. Highly recommend. Extensive menu, delicious food, great staff. Bonus sea view of sitting in window.
House of Zen – SunderlandMixed feelings about our visit. The food came out very fast - we literally ordered and within minutes the starters arrived. Starters were nice but we got soup. I always order the House Speciality Fillet Steak dish but it tasted more like Liver and was such a small portion for £20! We were in and out in 40 mins - felt rushed but looking at all the other comments we are not alone.
House of Zen – SunderlandService prompt but not much friendly conversation very clinical communication The food was good but very small portions on the main courses and extras ! Not sure on the 10% added service charge and don’t think it was well deserved!! Would have have questioned it but was with my son but if I was with the girls would have disputed it was deserved due to the service. Quite a young waitress so communicating was obviously a bit difficult
House of Zen – SunderlandFood is always great. One of the only Chinese near me to cater for a gluten free diet as I’m Coeliac.
House of Zen – SunderlandBirthday meal for my wife. Service was good. All who we spoke with were friendly. The food was lovely. We had starters and mains. The restaurant was clean and comfortable too.
House of Zen – SunderlandFood average but ruined with extremely poor service. Made incorrect cocktail and rather than just accepting the mistake and discounting the bill, insisted on still charging 50% and wanting to place blame on one of the young waitresses, when ironically it was the managers fault. Extremely unprofessional, could have left with happy customers if they weren’t so frugal with £5 worth of drink, which would have been poured down the drain anyway.
House of Zen – SunderlandExcellent service, friendly staff and amazing food, would definitely recommend and looking forward to my next visit
House of Zen – SunderlandFood was amazing and staff so friendly. Will definitely be returning.
House of Zen – SunderlandFood is always great and value for money it’s our go to place for food
House of Zen – SunderlandReally enjoyed everything, lots to choose from, price was perfect ( apart from the add on service charge this should be optional as would have tipped anyway ) food was fab.
