Delicious food and a cosy atmosphere. Was disappointed to have to wait 1hr to be served our food as there were only a couple of other tables occupied. Staff welcoming and friendly.
The Smokey Cow – TelfordWe were a group of six at 7pm, there was only one other table in the restaurant at the same time. Extensive menu to which we were looking for to. We ordered starters and mains and waited excitedly. Brie wedges - lovely Nachos - lovely Potato skins - tasteless and luke warm 2 lots of chicken wings - acceptable but luke warm Pork Scratchings - ran out. Waitress was very apologetic but very professional. Mains 2 x Macaroni cheese - bland, running and the chicken on the top was cool. Steak and Kidney Pie was ordered, at this time we were advised they had run out! Reordered Beef short rib with jalapeno mash with crispy onions, peppercorn gravy and shropshire blue sauce. Meal arrived, jalapeno was just slices on the top, no onions, they had run out of peppercorn gravy and Shropshire blue sauce.......... How hard is it to make a gravy and a Blue sauce! Especially as there was only two tables and no one else arrived all evening! Smoked haddock and salmon fish pie, creamy mash, seasonal veg and lemon and tarragon sauce. Meal arrived look nice......... the seasonal veg was a slightly warmed cabbage with chopped green beans, the pie had lots of tasty fish but again not hot, the sauce...... they had run out! The other 2 ordered the sharing pitmaster. Ribs and short ribs were tough to the point they could not even nibble at the meat and they were full of gristle and fat. The chicken was ok, the brisket was tasty and hot, sausage was nice, pork and beans were cold, no coleslaw turned up and the corn was luke warm again. Desserts Amazing - everyone enjoyed every mouthful, it was the best course of the day. In short, front of house superb, they are efficient and polite with a smile. Unfortunately for them, they were relaying the apologies from the kitchen. Food - underwhelming, for so many issues to have been had with everyone's meal, it wasn't just one 'fussy' eater. Shame as we have eaten in many of the other branches and had much been food served. Not sure why a kitchen cannot make sauces or deliver food hot. Not an experience we will be returning to try.
The Smokey Cow – TelfordGreat food and great service, would defiantly recommend a visit.
The Smokey Cow – TelfordWow….great atmosphere, food really really good. I had the burger, it was …memorable. The Slaw is amazing. My wife had the salmon which was also outstanding. Cheesecake shared for pudding was also really, really great! Can highly recommend the Estrella too….only small niggle was very long waits between ordering and being served….nibbles never arrived and then main course showed up so had to remove the much anticpated olives from bill. But when we were served lovely friendly staff…. Will be back
The Smokey Cow – TelfordBeen to the pub many times recently, always such a great atmosphere, staff are lovely very tentative and always have a smile on there face. Milly and Eve especially. Food was amazing as always and wasn’t waiting long ! Will be returning again

The Smokey Cow – TelfordLovely meal with the family. Huge portions of good home cooked food. Staff friendly and nothing was too much trouble. They had ran out of quite a bit of dishes but they offered us alternatives which was fine. Reasonably priced. Will return.
The Smokey Cow – TelfordCome here regularly after my walks around the village. Good selection of larger and recently a much better ale selection. Only minor criticism it would be lovely to be open every day for lunch as sometimes it closed.
The Smokey Cow – TelfordCame here recently. I believe they had a different chef to normal in the kitchen, however the food was fantastic as normal. Great service, very attentive.
The Smokey Cow – TelfordWe really enjoyed our Valentine's Day meal. It was lovely to see a different menu than the normal weekly one. The amount of food was ideal (often we find the platefuls overwhelming) and it was very tasty. We were disappointed when we ordered gin and tonics to be told there were no lemon slices. However when we complained the waitress did manage to find a slice! We were also slightly disappointed that there was no attempt to decorate the room for Valentine's Day. You could buy hanging decorations from the community shop...
The Smokey Cow – TelfordBeautiful food, well presented and fairly good service speed etc. enjoyed all that we ordered. Will be coming back.
The Smokey Cow – TelfordHad a great relaxing night no one rushing you for your table back, staff really helpful , good food, drinks and music to top it all, will definitely return , thanks for a lovely evening
The Smokey Cow – TelfordOur food on Saturday evening was excellent, however, because it was so busy, we ordered drinks which didn’t arrive and were added to the bill. There was also a random serving of fries added to the bill, which we hadn’t ordered or received- not a deal breaker, we will return. The music man was a bonus- great sound, finished the evening off nicely. Thank you.
The Smokey Cow – TelfordArrived early at 7.10pm for a 7.30 reservation. Got taken to our table within 2 mins. Took drink order at 7.15pm took 15 mins to arrive. Food order taken at 7.30pm and food arrived at 8.10pm. There were plenty of staff on and the restaurant wasn’t full. Food was ok. Plates were cold so the meat element of my meal was only Luke warm. Got asked by the waitress if we needed sauce, we asked for mayonnaise which never showed up!!! Never got asked if we wanted more drinks. Waited 15 mins after finishing our meal and no service so didn’t order pudding. I waited another few minutes and went to the bar to pay. All the waiting staff looked very young and there was distinct lack of management. Overall it was a disappointing meal, the food could of been better, the service was slow and poor. There was a live singer on who was so loud we had to raise our voices to talk to each other. You don’t need a loud mic and the amp turned up full in such a small setting. We have been visiting this establishment for a drink in the beer garden over the last few years. ( The service is always slow) It’s a shame as it’s a nice looking pub with a good menu. We won’t be visiting for a meal again soon.
The Smokey Cow – TelfordOverall a good experience was a very loud atmosphere on arrival a lot of people speaking loudly to be heard over the other tables. Once the singer started everyone seemed to quite down the singer was great a nice change to just music over speakers. The starter was incredible unfortunately my partner was disappointed with the items that were unavailable that we weren’t made aware of until ordering. A few ingredients seemed to be missing off the starters as listed on the Menu but didn’t effect the overall starter tasted amazing! We waited for about an hour between starters to mains which seemed abit of a long time I understand it was busy due to a few larger tables and being valentines weekend but we arrived at half 7 got our starters 45 minutes after arrival and got our mains at just gone 9pm. The one member of staff we spoke to was really friendly and chatty who took our order she was great and was having a laugh with us.
The Smokey Cow – TelfordEight of us ate Sunday Lunch at the Smokey Cow. On the whole the food was good. We skipped starters and went for mains. My chicken, ham and leek pie was perfect. Decent portions and very tasty. My wife had a large 1/2 chicken, which was also spot on. However, my daughter was disappointed by her steak (@£24.50) which she said was a bit dry. The desserts were good, but my chocolate orange tart was a bit dry and looked like it was bought in and defrosted - not made on site. One amusing thing was the waitress, who admitted to a lack of knowledge of the wine list and insisted on calling sauvignon blanc, sow vin blank. We may go again, as the menu had other items we'd like to try.
The Smokey Cow – TelfordLovely friendly and relaxed atmosphere, food was tasty and plenty of will definitely be coming again
