Bustophers Bar and Bistro – TruroNo wonder this place was voted best bar in Cornwall, it was totally packed last weekend and I can see why. Great bar team, and food to die for with gorgeous girls upstairs. We're loving it!
One Eyed Cat Bar and Restaurant – TruroI was surprised how busy it was considering it was cold and raining and February. Food fantastic and the bar was great too. Went for a pub crawl after our meal but quickly realised the whole of truro were in one eyed cat! would definitely visit again and am telling all my friends.
One Eyed Cat Bar and Restaurant – TruroHad our second lunch here last week, both visits have been impressive. Last week my massive hunk of cod, pan fried with a tangy sauce and wedge of lemon was served with crisp fine beans and a light dauphanoise, excellent. Go and discover this place, a great addition to Truros eateries.
Bustophers Bar and Bistro – TruroI would like to write the first review on Bustophers since its renovation after a recent night out there with my wife and daughter. That horrid dark interior has now been replaced with a fantastically stylish, bright interior - they've spent a few bob on it I would imagine. But I'm sure it will pay off because as soon as you walk in the door, this place looks the business! The greeting was somewhat disappointing however - the bar and waiting staff are dressed in a traditional French brasserie style, which would lead one into hoping the service would be of a similar fashion. However, without meaning to be unduly rude I felt that, after spending a whole evening being served by these people, they are all looks and no brains (except for one young man, whom I believe to be the manager - his service was courteous and knowledgeable). The menu was appetizing - there are many dishes on there that I would like to come back again and try. That night we had parfait and moules to start, both of which were delicious, then the cod and seabass off the specials board and the duck off the main menu. These were absolutely exquisite! The seafood dishes are by far the best you can get in Truro - so fresh and flavoursome, with sauces to match. As expected, the duck was fantastic too. We are so glad that Simon, the head chef, has moved to Truro as now we don't have to travel half so far to taste what we believe is the best cooking in Cornwall - my wife and I are two of his avid followers! The wine menu I must say is just as excellent as the food menu - some real thought has gone into matching it with the style of the restaurant's food. The brandy and cider range were good too. Finally, somewhere exciting for adults to go out to wine and dine in style. I would definitely recommend a visit! Ian and Annie
Bustophers Bar and Bistro – TruroSimply the best place to go in the s west for a great night out. Food and drinks to die for and a fab atmosphere last Saturday in a building that is out of this world. 10/10 for everything
One Eyed Cat Bar and Restaurant – TruroI used to go to Piero's a lot but it has slipped in recent years. They try very hard, it has a great atmosphere and the service is ok (not amazing like it used to be). The food however is no way near what it used to be. As an example I had a vegetable pizza that came cold with large chunks of vegetable and a lump of fenal on it, the next time I had a Lasagne that had fatty beef and for some strange reason ham in it. The desserts are now brought in instead of made and they seem to have become very tight with breads, wine and spirit measures. Still ok and good for lunch but there are now many other great pizzerias in Truro to eat at that are cheaper and have better service as well as good food.
Piero’s Ristorante and Pizzeria – TruroA group of us went last saturday night for a meal and had a cracking time. Food was to die for and the atmosphere was brill, not to mention the cocktails that were out of this world! I think I had 3 too many, however all in all a great great night.
One Eyed Cat Bar and Restaurant – TruroWent a week or so ago and really enjoyed our night. great cocktails and vast menu for the restaurant. Music a bit loud but none the less a cracking atmosphere and as Arnie once said...I'll be back. great stuff One Eyed cat- odd name but quirky
One Eyed Cat Bar and Restaurant – TruroDelicious Pizza with unusual toppings. Good atmosphere and friendly staff. Nicely designed but not sure about the red material on the chairs doesn't quite go with the rest.
One Eyed Cat Bar and Restaurant – TruroOn my visit to Carbonara, I found the service to be friendly, the atmosphere welcoming and the menu varied enough to suit most tastes. All food is cooked fresh, and the waiting staff do everything possible to ensure that you enjoy your meal. The restaurant itself is quite small, however, clever placing of tables means that you have your own space in which to enjoy your meal and do not feel at all cramped. As well as the fantastic starter and main menu, there is also a delightful desert menu for those who still have room for it! Over all I would highly recommend this quaint little restaurant to anyone in the area who would like to have a pleasant meal in a friendly but not intrusive atmosphere, at a price reflected in the food and service.
Bar Q Dos – TruroI have eaten at Chantek on many occasions, mainly at lunchtime. I would agree that the evening prices are more expensive but I have never had any complaints about the size of portions. The extra menu available at lunch is a real bargain. You can have a starter and a main course for a set price or a main course with a drink. The main courses include either noodles or rice. You get a generous portion of food for both courses. Food choices are large and the flavours are authentic. I am lucky enough to live locally so I have even had excellent take aways from Chantek.
Chantek Thai and South East Asian Restaurant – TruroAs a big fan of Indians, I have tried them all in and around Truro and can say that for a consistently high standard, interesting varied menu this is the tops in my eyes- recommend it - very stylish ambience- not the flock red wallpaper of so many and the staff are excellent and very conspicuous in their service- recommended
Shanaz – TruroHave eaten in Chantek about 5 times in 2006 and have never been disappointed. I am vegetarian and virtually all dishes have a V option which is wonderful with so many choices. You can certainly take a tour of Asia through the menu and I have now sampled various dishes away from red and green curries. I have particularly enjoyed sweeter dishes such as Massaman and Penang curries or a contrasting taste in the spicy Pacific Jungle Curry. The Papaya salad is recommended too. The food is certainly authentic and if you opt to sit near the kitchen you can watch the Thai chefs at work. The staff are great too and knowledgeable about the menu. The rice portions served with main dishes are a little on the small side but then you have room to sample the desserts! My wife is Thai and she loves the food..a home from home!
Chantek Thai and South East Asian Restaurant – TruroMy wife and I eat out whenever we can and have taken to visiting the BABA as a first option. The food and staff are above average and you are always made to feel a special customer. The owner maintains a very high standard at both restaurants. My only complaint is the menu. It's so big and under the soft lights the glossy finish makes it impossible to read. The food will certainly compensate for this little frustration.
Baba Indian Restaurant – TruroGreat place in a stunning location. Service is informal and friendly. We took our 3 kids out to dinner which can always be an effort and were made to feel more than welcome
St Mawes Hotel, Cafe Bar With Lounge and Rooms – TruroChantek in Truro was recommended to us by a fellow holiday maker, and we will be ever thankful to that couple. Holidaying in nearby Hayle with our 5 month year old baby, our top priority was to eat out as much as possible and as well as we could afford. We have not had such an authentic and tasty Thai meal in the UK. My partner and I are both Thai food lovers and holidaying one year in Thailand we discovered green papaya salad which became a daily staple. We were delighted to find this on the Chantek menu, and it was the best we have had in this country - a refreshing mix of green papaya, dried shrimps and peanuts, in a lime dressing. We sat outside in a courtyard, pleasantly decorated with exotic plants. We shared a plate of fresh grilled seafood from the daily specials menu with a dip that was hot and sour but not too sweet. A Malay yellow curry seafood dish was made less hot for a breast feeding Mum; it included more than we expected, with crab claws and tasty prawns. My partner found a King prawn green curry evidently very moreish as he ordered extra rice with which he could soak up anything remaining. Lunch was made complete by a lovely desert of yellow bean Kanang moreng and pineapple fritters with local organic ice cream. I was particularly pleased, as the restaurant offered brown rice, rice noodles offered as an alternative to egg noodles and herbal tea catering to my highly selective palate The restaurant was atmospheric but relaxed with coral lights that I would have liked for my own home and some revealing photographs of Thailand. The food was good value and reasonably priced. By chance we got chatting to a couple of the staff who were very friendly and particularly admiring of our baby which wins points with us. To any Asian food lovers who find themselves in Truro I would suggest checking out Chantek.
Chantek Thai and South East Asian Restaurant – TruroCool as you can get. Great service from some lovely looking girls, had one of the best pizza's I've ever had and my girlfriend had Tandoori monkfish! Brilliant, and love the interior design, toilets are a nice finishing touch too.
