Eagles Head – UlverstonWonderful pub. Stayed the night and was made welcome by the regulars - The Ship became my local for the night! Conversation ranged from onion-growing to football. Comfortable room, great real ale, great food, great hosts. Can't praise The Ship highly enough.
The Ship Inn – Ulverstonwe highly recommend the ship inn at bardsea, we stopped for Sunday lunch and really enjoyed the friendly warm atmosphere. The food was excellent and the staff professional, this is a real country pub and we will be returning
The Ship Inn – UlverstonMy friend and I ate here in June but had mixed feelings about our Rossini experience. The mixed starter was very nice, especially the pate. Our main courses weren't that good however. My steak was quite fatty and my friend's chicken dish was mediocre. The service could have been better, it was a quiet week night and the restaurant was less than half full but it took about 25 mins to get the second glass of wine we ordered. To sum up it was OK but could have been better.
Ristorante Rossini – UlverstonOne of my favourite cafes in Ulverston. The best coffee in town, lovely cakes, and the sandwiches are fantastic. Last time I was in the cafe I had a stilton and pear sandwich. Delicious and the bread is to die for. My friend loved here pork and apple sandwich as well.
Sting in the Tail – UlverstonBeautiful setting and fantastic service cheese/meat board superb. we went for a friends birthday and had a £30 voucher, thank god we did as the £102.00 bill was double what I would of liked to pay for the standard of the food. We eat a lot as a couple and a family at the Duke of Edinburgh in Barrow which is the sister pub of the Mill , this place needs a few lessons from them guys. Lots of potential people but the second time we have give you a try and come away saying "close but no star". Keep trying...
The Mill At Ulverston – UlverstonMyself (male) and two male friends decided to try Italian and went to Rossinis in Ulverston last March (2010). The menu was quite impressive for just a market town in the wilds of South Cumbria. We all decided on Pizzas and we swapped and "picked and mixed". They took a while to arrive but were cooked fresh from original ingredients. You could tell from the taste. While we were waiting the helpful waiter brought us complimentary marinated mixed olives - delicious. We were taking turns to drive so stuck to soft drinks but we noticed that they have Peroni on draught - so next time? Anyway for us there will be a next time - definitely. They do take away as well, but you have to phone ahead. Pop, Paul & Pete.
Ristorante Rossini – UlverstonDelicious food and a great little cafe for people who like to find 'a hidden gem' in a back street. This is one place that is definitely worth searching for. So much much better than many of the other cafes in Ulverston.
Sting in the Tail – UlverstonWent there last year on holiday, was very impressed, so much so drove from bowness in may holidays to try their food again, once again great fresh food served well, great service and choice. Well done all involved, loved your heroes pie, can I have the recipe?
Old Farm House The – UlverstonI went here to console myself on my 40th (gulp) birthday on Tuesday, with two friends. We had a fantastic afternoon, complete with afternoon tea and dainty cakes, which we had to take home as the portions are so generous. As busy working mums we all decided to make this our guilty pleasure on a more regular basis. Thankyou Gillams, this is a little vegetarian oasis we could idle an afternoon away in - my daughter is also in love with the strawberry lemonade!
Gillams Tearoom – UlverstonWe booked a table but arrived late - (after they'd closed). We were made really welcome and found the manager really helpful. One of our party has a wheat intolerance and was pleasantly surprised that she was offered wheat free pasta!!. I had their homemade pizza with a salad, both tasted really fresh. We had a couple of bottles of chianti with our mains which was equally delicious. I'd recommend Rossinis to couples and groups - there's a fantastic vibe and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. 5 stars!!
Ristorante Rossini – UlverstonOne of the Lake Districts little gems..... Get yourself to the next beer festival!!!
Anglers Arms – Ulverstonwe have a house in cartmel so im ALWAYS looking for great places to eat , this is a FANTASTIC place! the food is delicious , the drinks are excellent, and the staff and environment are equally pleasing!!!!! well done gillams!!!! 5 stars!!! * * * * *
Gillams Tearoom – UlverstonA very friendly atmosphere, brilliant food and where possible-locally sourced, have returned many times & never had a bad meal yet. competitively priced. cannot fault. would imagine an ideal place to celebrate xmas. would be confident to recommend to anyone. good luck for the future and looking forward to regular visits in 2010 when the caravan season re-starts & we return to Cumbria. from Dave & Rita - York.
Rusland Pool Hotel Restaurant and Bar – UlverstonI'm sorry to have to write this but my wife and I had a meal at the Anglers Arms Haverthwaite on Friday 21st August and it was absolutely disgusting. The starter was a minuscule portion and very bland. The main course is probably the most bland stodgy and nondescript meal I have eaten since my school dinner days. To add insult, the manager offered us a ten percent discount off our meal.A dreadful experience we will never go back again
Anglers Arms – UlverstonAs far as mexican restaurants go, Amigos is by far the best we have ever visited. The food was delicious and came quickly. I recommend the Loaded skins for starters and the Pollo con Jalepenos. They also have a range of frozen cocktails which tasted fabulous. The waitress (Emma) is a wonderful hostess and instantly made us feel very comfortable. After finishing our meal, we insisted on commending the chef on the fabulous food. The chef (who is also the owner) was very friendly and keen to talk to us. We would recommend this restaurant to couples and families alike. Despite the fact that we came up from Manchester for a week, this has highlighted our holiday and we will definitely be visiting again. Please note: The entrance is at the rear :-) xxx
Amigos The Mexican – UlverstonWe went as a group of 13 on sat. night for a birthday celebration. We had pre-booked our meals and they came named to avoid any confusion. Food was great and the service was excellent and very good-humoured. Would definitely recommend and visit again
