Pagoda Cantonese Restaurant – WakefieldMy apologies about previous review! It was for the salute at rothwell NOT the plough inn at warmfield.
Plough Inn, The – WakefieldThis was our first visit to salute, I ordered the chicken and bacon spring rolls, but found them difficult to cut because the were so hard. My husband and I shared a pizza which was very doughy and under cooked. The service was friendly but rushed? We also disagree with the 10 service charge which is added on without you knowing! For the amount we paid we expected better quality cooking, we are sorry if we've offended anyone but it was not a good experience and probably won't be returning.
Plough Inn, The – WakefieldAte there last Friday 5pm. Food good but whole experience not positive. Wrong food (at kitchen' s discretion!?); long wait for drinks (barman went missing!?); overcharged for drinks; long wait to pay. So nearly very good.
Fox and Hounds – WakefieldWakefield best ever Indian restaurant.
Kashmiri Aroma – WakefieldBeen to the Cowshed a few times and always have a lovely time. Our waitress we had last week (Rebecca or Rachel) was very sweet and really made the effort to make us feel special. Would always recommend to a friend.
Cow Shed Restaurant and Grill – WakefieldExcellent food and service. Value for money too in this day and age every penny counts and it was well worth it. The service was really good and the lamb chops were tasty. Mains were delicious! Best I've had in a long time. Thoroughly recommend this little gem in Normanton.
Arooje Restaurant – WakefieldHave been eating here since they opened and have never been unhappy till now. The prices have gone up the food has gone down and the service even worse. The staff were all Chinese but sadly now all young English people who do not have the pride the Chinese have in their work. When I complained the young man at the till shrugged his shoulders and carried on as if nothing had been said. I would rather travel to Castleford than return to this place. Very sad indeed.
Saw the best Band Ive ever seen There called The STAT Band. This Band must be one of the best Band's around. Incredible musicianship, harmonies a great choice of song's (all my favourites) look out for them , you won't be disappointed..
Admiral Duncan – WakefieldWe visit the cinnamon lounge at least once a week. the staff are very friendly, service is second to none. The food is excellent and presented very well. A great dining experience
Cinnamon Lounge – WakefieldThe New Inn, Walton Wakefield Yorkshire. Having undergone a complete refurbishment both internally and externally followed by an outstanding transformation to the menu, variety of choice offered on the daily specials and willingness to adapt or alter, one would have questioned what else could be done. A further visit saw the soft furnishings, drapes and both stunning yet subtle festive decorations. Presumably the intention to create a cosy and friendly ambience with first class service and beautiful food has not only been achieved but surpassed.
New Inn Walton – WakefieldHad a late Sunday lunch with the family, was surprised you could choose from the specials board as well as from the traditional Sunday menu. I had chicken in a garlic mushroom sauce which was delicious, the veg were cooked to perfection too. My eldest son chose the New Inn Burger and declared it the best he had ever eaten, it came on a wooden board with all the trimmings, and the most divine chips ever! The rest of the group chose Sunday roast , lots of good quality meat, and 4 well cleared plates were handed back to the friendly waitress! For some reason the pub has been re-furbished again - within a year by the new owners, lots of guest ales to choose from and quality wines, and the entire place has a really welcoming and cosy atmosphere. Came in at around £34 for food for 4 of us, amazing for the quality and portions. Compliments to all, especially the chef! We will be back!!,
New Inn Walton – WakefieldPicking up on the positive reviews and looking for a local pub meal, my wife and I called in Sunday and were thoroughly impressed! The pub is beautifully presented inside and has some really nice touches like the candles on every table which really create a warm and cosy winter atmosphere. We ordered 2 starters and 2 main courses and I would particularly recommend my homemade Pâté (excellent) and the delicious, well cooked steak which my wife enjoyed. The bar stocks plenty of real ale (I particularly enjoyed Ossett brewery movember) and the warm welcome is what we find so important in a country pub. If we had one complaint it may have been slightly more knowledgable service - particularly when we asked for a wine recommendation.Overall however, very good indeed - we will return.
New Inn Walton – WakefieldVisited the New Inn last night, there were 9 of us dining, not a single complaint. The food was great, I had the rump steak cooked to perfection . Great atmosphere as you'd expect from a quaint village pub, will return again.
New Inn Walton – WakefieldHaving visited the new inn the night before last (7/11/12) I couldn't have had a more different experience to the one that "mike" talks about in earlier comments, I too had the "New Inn Burger" that was truly fantastic value for money, and cooked to perfection. My partner enjoyed the homemade spicy goulash - discribed as mouthwatering.I will return to the New Inn for sure and would recommend anybody who wants to enjoy great food, a huge range of local real ales and a warming country pub atmosphere to visit it right away. It's refreshing to see a pub on the up inspire of the difficult economic climate....... WELL DONE!!
New Inn Walton – WakefieldSorry tonights food was poor. Starter Onion Bhaji no taste other than flour and that did not taste nice someone forgot the spices. Machli Biran last time I ordered this it was one piece of fish not cut into chunks and dry, over cooked.
Red Chilli II – WakefieldWe have been to the Castle almost every week since finding it, and it proved to be a good find. Food choice is varied, if a little dear for a pub. Food was of reasonable quality and decently cooked, that is why we often went for a change from our usual restaurant venues. However, our last visit on Sunday the 16/9/2012 and I mean THIS WILL BE OUR LAST EVER VISIT, was an UTTER DISASTER.Let me say first, the Young lady who served us was Polite, Efficient, Conscientious, Friendly and could not have been better or nicer… No, the problem was with the Kitchen entirely I had the Duck Breast, a couple of the centre slices were edible, just, but a couple at each end were over cooked and very hard. My wife had the Pork which was overcooked and dry and chewy, as overdone pork invariably is, so we left almost all of the meals. But as we were paying the full price for it, we asked to take the meats home for our cats. Even then we were not too upset, as we are retired we dine out several times a week, so are used to the occasional slip-up.Out came the meats for home, rapped in a bit of Cling-film. My wife said it looked very small for what we had left, so she opened it at the table.. Some comedian in the kitchen had put just a bit of the overcooked Pork fat and the very end dark hard bits of Duck in the cling-film…. The rest of the meats were missing. Obviously this had been done intentionally, and shows a total disrespect for the Customer, and what can happen if you send anything back.. As we always have drinks and wine with our meals, The Castle has lost approximately £60 – 70 on a regular basis, this may not matter to them, but there are many venues happy to cater for customers better than this……
The Castle – WakefieldFirst used the restaurant shortly after the new owners took over and was impressed by the meal and the menu. Made a second visit a few weeks later and the meal was a bit disappointing. Last night (11/9/12) five of us decided to go for a meal, it was early and we were the only diners. I was disappointed that the menu was the same as earlier in the year when we first visited. I ordered Garlic Mushrooms and when it came it consisted of no more than two mushrooms thinly sliced and swimming in a cream sauce, i was luckier than one of our five though, her starter (ribs) had been forgotten and only arrived when the rest of us had finished. When it did arrive instead of falling off the bone the meat had to be forced off with a knife and my friend just gave up on it.The main courses arrived, well four did, this time it was me who was forgotton. My New Inn Burger eventually arrived and it was as if it had been left on the side and then thrown in the microwave before serving. The burger was dry, the bread roll was hard round the edges and the chips had been warmed up.As we all had something to complain about we decided not to risk dessert and asked for the bill. Talk about adding insult to injury, two guest beers had been added to the bill, we had been drinking wine and soft drinks so it wasn't ours, fair do's it was taken off when we complained. We have probably had worst meals in a greasy spoon or motorway cafe but I cannot remember when, I am not suprised that we were the only ones in the restaurant.
